Seir is uninterested in the human condition. He's always been content to watch the world suffer from afar.

Thousands of years on Earth have left him cynical, jaded, and unsympathetic to the plight of mortals, but when a mysterious woman seeks his help, he's unwittingly thrust into what could become the end game between Heaven and Hell. Within Ava lies an important key--one this fallen angel must protect in order to survive. The stakes are higher than ever before, and the most dangerous force of all may be the tumultuous past Seir is forced to confront.

The hosts of Heaven are starting to descend, and some of them are none too happy with the choices he's made.

As angelic and demonic forces collide, the world's fate hangs precariously in the balance.

Adriana Noir is an avid fan of dark fiction, taboo subjects, and tortured anti-heroes. She also tends to write about these things. Most of the time she can be found plugging away at the computer, guzzling coffee and energy drinks, or mumbling to herself as she sorts out the twisted plots and character conversations in her head. She's also been known to binge read or slip into Netflix comas whenever time allows. Adriana has a weakness for all things Australian. Tim Tams and red licorice are her kryptonite. She's also mildly obsessed with the Cheshire Cat. When Adriana isn't reading or writing, she's usually spending time with her family, sharpening her culinary skills, or interacting on Facebook.

I had the honor of an advance copy of Requiem:Book of the Fallen. This is no typical story of good and evil. Noir's Angels, divine and fallen, jump off the page with endearing quirks and gut wrenching angst in this apocalyptic tale. The author paints an eerie picture of what the world is like after "The Collapse." In the light of recent economic times and world happenings, it is easy to imagine the world she creates.

Requiem: Book of the Fallen introduces us to a young woman, Ava, that holds the key to humanity's salvation or their downfall. Neither side truly knows the power she possesses, as they jockey to be the one to control her. Both sides are on edge as she chooses to walk a fine line between her heavenly guardians and the dark forces that seek to destroy all. One thing I would've never imagined is the sarcastic, scathing, humor of the main character, the fallen angel Seir. His sometimes bitter, but blunt, take on all involved in the battle will make you think, and surely make you laugh even in the darkness. The connection he forms with Ava is perhaps even more surprising to him than to the reader.

The battle between good and bad, light and dark is a story older than time, but told here with an intensity and skill that will send a chill down your spine and make you think. Noir's descriptions of the residents of Heaven and Hell are beautiful and horrific, the battle being waged believable, and all the more frightening for it.

Seir is unsympathetic to the plight of mortals. Thousands of years on earth have left him, cynical, sarcastic, and jaded. As angelic and demonic forces start to collide, the world's fate hangs precariously in the balance. Unfortunately, as Seir soon finds out, so does his survival. The time has come. The battle for our souls has begun"

My Thoughts:
I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads and must say that I was impressed. The age-old battle between good and evil, light and dark is a story older than time, but it is told here with an intensity and skill that definitely sets it apart from others and makes you think. Noir's descriptions of the residents of Heaven and Hell are beautiful and horrific, while the battle being waged is quite believable making it all the more frightening. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and finished this book in one sitting as it is a very fast read. I will be looking forward to future work from Adriana Noir.

The narrative is lovely and so detailed it's obvious great care was put into crafting not only the story but the world contained in this novel. Seir is the anti-hero you've always wanted, twisted and torn in all the right ways, and the back-story on fallen angels and demons, while complex, is incredibly enthralling. I love how the narrative flowed and ebbed, and the build-up to the finale was fun.
The one thing that disappointed me a bit was the female antagonist, Ava. I kept hoping she would pull out some kind of bad-assery to make herself useful, but she didn't. She cried and shuddered a lot and looked lost most of the time. I want to keep reading the series in the hope that the time I spent getting to know Ava wasn't wasted, and I hope she finds a new gear at some point to make her more interesting.
The rest of the characters were so richly developed and their characters so consistent and I wanted to feel the same way about Ava but I just couldn't. The story itself, however, is more than enough to keep me reading.

This book is a dark fantasy, a love story, an in-depth look into a world that has lost its function, and most of all, a character study with psychological insight. Then, better yet, the storytelling together with the skillful use of the language is exquisite.

The plot weaves around fallen angel Seir's indecision, as Seir fluctuates between falling further or choosing the light because of his increasing love to the half-human Ava. Pulled in two directions by the dark forces and the light, a hopeless, grouchy, and morose Seir vacillates in anguish, in spite of the help offered by the angel Gabriel.

Although the storyline captivates the reader with demons, angels, fights, and non-stop action, this novel's art is in its insight into good and evil, showing how anyone can become conflicted when caught in between opposing choices.

This is a thought-provoking novel, thick with action, impressive characters, and full of insight. I recommend it to people who like to read books that move their readers and leave something with them even after they are finished.

This was one of the most emotional, deep, amazing books I have ever read. You are a bit confused at times, but the plot is amazing. Seir is a great character to follow! He is someone you can often connect to more often them not. Gabe is also so kind and always willing to help others out of the kindness of his heart. Loved this book!!! can't wait for the next one!!!

It is easy to imagine the world the author created in the pages of Requiem. After the collapse of the economy there is rampant pillaging and plundering in the cities and towns. There is a shortage of food and the soup kitchen is running out so fast that many are left to starve and the ones that don’t are normally the ones up front of the lines pushing, shoving, and being abusive. The weak and poorest of all are left defenseless.

In this story there are two kinds of angels. The fallen and the heavenly. Seir is one of the fallen, but there is more to his story than meets the eye. He is not your typical fallen angel. Ava runs the soup kitchen and goes to Seirs establishment (that use to be a restaurant) and request stores and other food items that might help her to save the starving. Little does she know that to make any kind of agreement with the fallen and it will be your undoing. Even the smallest of agreements with them have their cost.

Seir is fighting to control having a relationship with Ava against her heavenly guardians. They want her to stay away from the dark side and the dark side wants her dead. She is something no one understands. Maybe a mix of angel and human or a mix of the fallen and the heavenly. No one knows for sure, but neither side wants to take any chances in her learning of her own power and using to her advantage.

Noir does an amazing job of telling the story that is older than time. The battle of good versus evil. It is intense and will open your eyes to the power that is around us every day all day long. This is a truly great book. It is riveting and will cast a spell on you from the moment you begin to read to the minute you put it down. She does an amazing job of introducing you to the good and the bad in the other world not our own, but a part of it. I have one suggestion for you… Read it.

Requiem: Book of the Fallen is a dark and edgy urban fantasy with a twist of horror. It's written from Seir's point of view, a sarcastic and sometimes cruel fallen angel who has no interest in mortals or their affairs.

Below is a brief synopsis. I hope you give it a read and enjoy!

This is an angel book with a edge! I loved it. The author is known for dark fiction, and this paranormal book is straight in that vein for all you Dark lovers out there.

The viewpoint being exclusively from the main male character, Seir, was one of the things really working for this book. The description of how the angels drew their power and also the emotions involved with their relationships was excellent. The tormented psyche of Seir is a beautiful thing to read- does that make me cruel? No, a Fallen angel is going to be torn heart and soul by the heaven they once had and the reasons that made them turn from it. The loneliness and sadness of Seir made you as a reader really feel for him. He is an antihero, which are the most delicious kind (to me). I am really looking forward to the next book!

Once I got past the strange formatting on the Kindle version I enjoyed the story line and the conflict between what is perceived as good and evil. The lines are slightly blurred when it comes to the main character, and I guess his story develops further in the next book.

There was enough pace to keep me interested, and it doesn't pull it's punches in the violence stakes, so you never quite know who will still be in one piece at the end of the book. I read the story in one day, and I'd probably give the second book a go too.

All in all, a pretty good read.

wow!!! this is not my typical read. long ago I found myself pages drop in hush hush and Fallen have I found a book that pulls me in like this one did.
I felt the pages come alive, with a world that I've never seen before. even in all its darkness the author filled it with so much light that I could see it when I read the words from the pages.
I hurt for the fallen, I felt his pain and I long to feel it again in book two.
