GRATEFUL DEAD IS A PEAK STAND AND A PEAK MISSION. i really loved the choice that they don't show prosciutto before so when you see the old man you go omg that's an old man but NOPE. i am always going to love with mista gets to do shit but mista AND bruno doing shit?? A DREAM COME TRUE! i love sex pistols so much (shout out no 5) but wow. what a stressful experience but bruno hitting that ARRIVEDERCI just made it... MWAH.

I got a kick out of Pesci's little arc. It's always enjoyable to see villains grow in this sort of series. The way he slowly grows in confidence was nice to watch. This is the closest and character in Jojo has come to a sort of DBZ style power up moment (aside from maybe Koichi). That doesn't happen in Jojo. People don't suddenly awaken a hidden strength or train. It's all about the characters' wit in the spur of the moment. The idea of "power levels" means nothing. What can you think to do with your stand's abilities? How does it interact with that other stand? You can't train for that. And the only sort of sudden power up comes in the form of a creative breakthrough. A character realizes something about the enemy or comes up with a specific strategy that leads them to victory.
I have to question shooting Mista in the head though. I just can't buy that a single piece of Sex Pistols was able to stop all three bullets. One yes, but not three. Either have get shot once and let No 5 block that, or don't shoot him. Creating an unwinnable situation that the character survives just because is like trying to have your cake and eat it too. And it hurts credibility when you put your characters in mortal peril (or actually kill them), because I've been conditioned to expect that they'll somehow survive due to some stretch of logic.
I really liked when Buccellati and Fra started throwing down. Sticky Fingers ability led to some memorable moments, like when Bruno unzipped his head to dodge a punch or when they were hanging outside the train.
The Grateful Dead "arc" takes up over a full volume. Nearly two, if you count the chapters where the gang boards the train. But it never feels like a slog because things are always changing. The conflict quickly goes from one setup to the next. In the space of 12 chapters, Sticky Fingers, Grateful Dead, and Beach Boys are milked for all their worth. The story is cycling through these new ideas and uses at such a pace that it never feels like things are starting to drag. It's then capped off with an intense, hard hitting final standoff between Bucciallati and Pesci. This was one of my favorite fights in Jojo.
