Memes in this volume:

Ok all this Fugo pagetime kind of gave me big Fugio feels and it's a very underrated ship but they just complement each other so well? I wish they interacted more in Part 5! How hard will I ship them after I read Purple Haze Feedback?

It's Coco Jumbo, with his ability Mr. President!

god golden wind is so good. like all the characters are great and the villains are fun and I'm just having such a great time reading this. abbachico's backstory is also sad. i feel very bad for him and it makes sense with how he acts. all of them are very smart and had the right moves to get the win in the end. what a great showcase of whits. AND NOW. NEW MISSION! and we are in a turtle. on a train. and the villain revenge group after then. and fucking grateful dead? beach boy? both amazing and both really cool fucking stands... AND ITS UP TO MISTA AND BRUNO. BEST BOYS. to save the day

Great end to the Man in the Mirror fight, plus includes the Grateful Dead arc, one of my favorites in the series!! Mista and Bucciarati go through high stakes!!

Finishing with the mirror man we head to the train adventure and the turtle mystery. Up to now it seems promising.

There's some stuff I don't really get with this volume. There are two particular things that put a damper on the end of Man in the Mirror's battle.

The way certain parts of Abbacchio get taken out by certain slivers of mirrors isn't particularly clear. Even with the benefit of 3D animation, I still don't think it would be easy to follow as a reader. I also don't understand how Giorno was able to create a snake that happened to have the antidote for Purple Haze's poison. I think he was trying to imply that because the snake was created in the presence of this poison, it developed an antidote. But that was not very clear at all, and even if it were the case, that feels like a stretch. I was very tired when reading through this section, so it's also possible I missed something.

I want to once again praise Purple Haze's design. With some color changes and some slight tweaks this thing feels like it could be the villain of a horror series. That stitched shut mouth with drool hanging out. The ominous eyes with white pupils. The way it moves. It's great. While I'm at it, Grateful Dead is another great design.

I really want to know where Araki gets some of his ideas. I have no idea how he came up with a secret hideout inside the gem on a key, which fits into a slot carved into a turtle shell. But here we are. And the things is, I didn't even find it that odd at first glance. I had to take a step back before realizing just how wacky that is. Jojo is good at getting me into this mindset where I'll accept any off the wall concept. Which is kind of a double edged sword. It's great because the story can now go in weird directions without worrying about suspension of disbelief. But I worry that part of what makes the series special will be lost if I become inoculated to its offbeat brand of weirdness.

In the Grateful Dead fight, we get to see Mista in action some more, which is never a bad thing. I enjoyed seeing him sneak around the train like a spy. I've latched onto the gangster stuff in a way I hadn't expected. Beach Boys is a creative idea that ends up working better than you might expect in the format of a manga. It's surprisingly easy to track the continuity of motion between Mista and Beach Boys, despite them being so far apart. If you stop and think about it, this is an impressive accomplishment. But in practice, it means that the reader can just focus on the action without worrying about the logistics of it.
