Love can be a lifeline.

Play Doctor, Book 2

As thrilled as Luke Malone is for his best friends, Kurt and Becca, enough is enough. The couple welcomed him into their lives, and their bed. But lately, he’s feeling less like a participant in their happiness…and more like an intruder.

Yet when a beautiful woman comes to his sexual psychology practice, Luke is forced to turn her away. It’s not that he doesn’t want to help her, it’s that he wants her. Too much to stay impartial.

Brielle Norris would rather have a root canal than see a shrink. But she’s had enough of letting the scars from an abusive relationship rule her life. Knees knocking, she steps into the psychologist’s office—and runs right into a tall, handsome man whose gilded perfection makes her own quirky faults even more painfully obvious.

She never expected he’d hand her off to one of his colleagues—then take a personal support role in the unconventional treatment she needs to heal.

In tandem with Kurt and Becca, Luke strives to teach Brielle that not all relationships end in disaster. At least this one won’t—if he can keep her safe when her past rears its ugly head.

Contains scenes of outside-the-box therapy involving a ménage a quatre. Closed course, professional drivers; do not attempt without…ahem…expert supervision.

I finally managed to finish it, and only my deep dislike of not finishing a book helped me through this ordeal. It's been a very painful read...
Quite nicely written, perfectly edited, but I just hate all characters, find the setting stupid and nothing believable or interesting in the story. Why, o why do we have another erotica with a mean ex trying to hurt the heroine? How, o how could the hero fall in love (not lust) with a woman after meeting her at the veggie section of the supermarket, while she's totally traumatised about men? How could such a traumatised woman accept what she did in a matter of days? How can head of psychology in a big university consider that sex is the answer to any problem?
And the sex is not even tepid.
I really disliked this book, which I could not recommend, even though it has some qualities others do not manage to achieve.

I was actually cool with the f'ed-up heroine and the therapist-patient thing they had going on. I like WTFery just fine, it's the slut shaming that grinds my gears.

MERCY, this was a hot story. I liked both Brielle and Luke and thought they were good together but thought it really unrealistic that Luke fell for her at first sight. Seriously ? Nice fantasy though.
I really liked their interaction with Becca and Kurt, especially the kinda orgy scene between the 4 of them. I think they all will be indulging in a lot of that in the future. I wished there had been more of that in the story. I think it would have been great during that time to see a little f/f action just to spice things up. hehe
Throughout this book I pictured Marvin Gaye popping up singing Sexual Healing. lol
It was also fun to see some of the characters from the author's Men in Blue series. Made me want to go back and read those books.

I’m taking a break from the Jayne Rylon books. The sex is great, but there is just so much trauma that her female characters have to overcome. This book especially.

I didn’t know until several chapters in that this is the second of a series and I didn’t read the first. Apparently in that book, Luke started having sex with his best friends Kurt and Becca. At the start of this book, he has found that boring. He is amazed by how much Kurt cares for Becca, how he wants her orgasm more than his own. Luke wonders what it would be like to love someone that much.

Then he runs into Brielle at the grocery store. There’s an instant mutual attraction, but all that happens is she helps him buy produce and he buys her a candy bar.

And then it turns out she is one of his psychiatric patients. They have to stop that after the first meeting because he’s too turned on to be objective, so he has Becca become her psychiatrist instead. (It’s also against policy for her to be friends with a patient, but at least this is better.)

Complaints not related to The CWs below:
- Brielle is poor but thanks about starting a blog for making food on a budget. We never find out how that went or if she was able to make some money on her own.
- there is talk of her having sex with Kurt and Luke at the same time, but this is never shown
- also, why not a coed foursome? I was really hoping the four of them would get it on, HIPPA violations aside.

Brielle’s past is full of CWs
- her mother died when she was a child
- her father kept her in a closet while he did whatever in the apartment
- she witnessed an almost suicide
- grown men watched her bathe
- her father was killed while she was in the closet and she stayed there for a few days until he stunk so much the landlord’s son came in
- her rescuer became her boyfriend
- he cheated on her and kept her in a closet

Also later there is slut shaming, someone holding her hostage, sex with her psychiatric team, a photograph she didn’t consent to, a kidnapping, helpful police officers, and a fairytale ending where anybody who hurt you is dead or in jail. And of course the general theme that love and great sex give you better treatment from your trauma than therapy.

Luke is one of my favorite main characters. It’s amazing how men can decide they’re ready to settle down and the next woman they run into is his soul mate. lol I’ve seen this happen in real life too. I just didn’t buy that a girl who was so traumatized would jump at the chance to suggest 3somes and all four in such a short time. ( 2 therapy sessions) . I know it’s fiction but this bothered me ,I really thought they were going to talk her into it as part of her therapy. I do enjoy this author and working my way through her books.

The last thing Brielle Norris wants to do is see another counselor. But she is smart enough to know she will never get past the nightmares of the abusive relationship she was able to escape without help. She wants to live a normal life, and that includes a healthy sexual relationship with someone, in the future. But when she goes to Dr. Luke Malone’s sexual psychology clinic, he feels honor bound to refer her to another practitioner because, as much as Luke wants to help Brielle, he can’t be objective with her treatment; he wants her for himself, and that would be unethical. He does refer her to the best in the field, after him, that is; his friends, Drs. Becca and Kurt Foster.

When he proposes that she sees Becca, and let him go with her, Brielle agrees to the arrangement. As she opens up, it becomes clear that Brielle could greatly benefit from Kurt’s invention, the Dream Machine, to help her overcome her fears and insecurities. As the attraction grows, Brielle discovers that some of the desires she has are perfectly normal, if a bit on the, well, kinky side, and that Luke shares in the things that interest her. As the unconventional therapy continues, can Brielle let go of her fears, and move on to a happy future, preferably with Luke? Will Luke find what he’s been searching for with Brielle? When her past comes back to haunt her, will Brielle crumple, or stand tall and conquer those fears once and for all?

Healing Touch is the second in Jayne Rylon’s Play Doctor series, and it was worth the wait. The world Ms. Rylon has built is highly sensual, and not for the faint of heart. The characters in this are strong and well crafted, with only one new character being introduced here. This is a book filled with passion, and tension of many kinds. I enjoyed seeing the characters interact, both in and out of the bedroom/laboratory. Nothing is left to the imagination in this one, and the characters’ strength is the one thing I found to be constant throughout the story.

Brielle Norris begins this story as a confused but determined woman. She wants so badly to live a ‘normal’ life, but her many fears tend to overwhelm her at times. She is smart and has a fantastic sense of humor that sees her through her darker periods, and has learned to compensate accordingly to avoid her hot buttons. I liked watching as she opened up to Luke, revealing her fears and dreams/nightmares to him. I love her courage and her willingness to follow through with every direction that Becca proposes. As she gets closer to Luke, I love that she is seeing that all men are not like her father, or her ex Brad.

Luke Malone is strong, intelligent and gorgeous, but he has been alone for too long. After his friends, Kurt and Becca, finally found their happily ever after, he wants what they have, and is less interested in the sharing they are used to. I enjoyed watching as her came back to the vibrant man he should be under Brielle’s attentions. I loved his loyalty, and above all, his determination to help Brielle overcome all her fears and nightmares, even the ones she has kept buried so deep, she didn’t realize they were there. His gentleness with her shows that a man can be strong but sensitive and caring too.

This is an intense and passionate book, with nothing left undone. If you want subtlety and innuendo, this is not the book for you. Brielle and Luke have a chemistry that leads to many extremes, and their bedroom scenes burn the pages, they are so detailed and hot.

This one is for those brave and adventurous readers who like their romance super hot, with no-holds-barred participation by all the characters at some points, and with a happy ever after at the end.

I am a huge fan of Jayne Rylon's and have yet to be disappointed by anything of hers that I've read thus far. This book was certainly no exception. After reading the first book in this series, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this second installment. I fell in love with Luke Malone in "Dream Machine" and fell even harder in this book where we get to know him on a much deeper level and witness his perfection in all its many glorious ways.

I was reeled in to his book from the start and continued to be captivated and super turned on for its entirety. Such a great love story with some of the hottest sex scenes I've ever read (and let me just say, I have read A LOT of erotic romance novels). That ménage scene with Luke, Brielle, Kurt and Becca involving a certain "fisting" incident was single handedly the most arousing piece of erotic fiction I have ever experienced. After reading that scene, I can honestly say I felt a little dirty and very very turned on. I didn't even know that was possible but I can say that I am now very intrigued. I loved how the characters I grew so attached to in the first book played such an active role in this one as well. I will say though as steamy as this book can get, it truly is a love story first. And let me just say, the love story is enough in and of itself to keep you riveted through the very last page. Everything else is really yummy icing on an already sinfully delicious cake!

I must say I wasn't sure about Brielle at first. All her "issues" had me worried that she could become extremely annoying very quickly. However, that never happened. With a past as traumatizing as hers, its a miracle she hasn't just given up. The fact that she is willing to fight for a different future and face her fears head on is awe inspiring and extremely admirable. She's equal parts fierce and fragile and I loved that complex dichotomy in her character and found myself connecting with her in a genuine way. Initially, I wasn't sure how a relationship between her and Luke could possibly work out. Yet, they seemed to fit perfectly and complemented each other in a beautifully deep way.

Even though some might find this as a purely superfluous read, when Brielle's life is put in danger and Luke is grief stricken, panicked and out of his mind with worry, the emotions are so raw and intense that you literally feel everything along with him. I was so enthralled with this book that by the epilogue, I honestly had tears in my eyes at a particularly passionate and romantic moment that gives these characters the HEA ending they so deserve and I so craved. This is by far one of my favorite books that I've read in a while and can only wish this is not the end for these characters.

I should start by saying I’m a huge fan of Jayne Rylon’s work! I have read all that she has written, and just plainly love her writing style!! I love that she is willing to skip what should be “normal” for her characters. Healing Touch is the long awaited sequel to her very first novel Dream Machine, and boy was it worth the wait!!!!

Luke Malone is growing tired of his life the way it is. He has been joining his best friends in their bed for the last year, but he even that isn’t as enjoyable as it once was. He wants what they have, that deep everlasting love that make the passion between them even greater. Then he literally runs into the one woman to stir his blood like no other has ever done in the grocery store, and again in his office as a patient he knows he can’t treat. So he enlists the help of his best friends and colleges, Doctors Kurt and Becca Foster.

Brielle Norris has lived a life that no one should ever have to experience. She finally is ready to get help for her fears left over from the years of abuse. She is finally able to work up the courage to get the help that she needs. She is attracted to Luke as a man in a way that she never has before. She agrees to work with his friends, because she sees that they can help her get past her horrid past to have a possible future with Luke.

I absolutely love the true beautiful patience that Luke shows Brielle, and how he shows her to embrace all that she longs for. The relationships between these four are beyond great! I love that Luke and Kurt’s friendship has truly evolved to include their great loves. This is probably one of my favorites by Jayne. I love how she took at truly broken woman and built her back up with the love and patience of a great man supporting her. I hope y’all love this one as much as much as I have.

5 out of 5 Licks

Luke *sigh* poor, sweet, unhappy with life Luke. Watching his two friends happy and sometimes in the bedroom used to be enough, but now he wants more. He wants a love like theirs. I fell in love with Luke when he first appeared in Dream Machine. I knew he would be one of those deep souls who would eventually realize he wanted more. I can relate to Brielle because I am also claustrophobic. As a matter of fact I came close to having a panic attack on an elevator that Jayne Rylon was riding on at RT 2011 (I still refer to those things as the elevators of death *shudder and not in a good way*). Ms. Rylon had me crying before I could even finish the second chapter. She captures the fear aspect very well. There were times when I felt as though I was stuck with Brielle and was close to panicking myself. There is no other word to describe how Luke cared for Brielle from the beginning other than love. They may have not realized it yet but they were in love the moment they first saw each other and I absolutely loved watching them discover it. Kurt and Becca play a pretty big role in this book too and I was thrilled to see them continuing with their happy ever after.

I have come to expect nothing less than crazy, hot sex from Ms. Rylon's books and she certainly delivers. Theres this one scene with Luke, Brielle, Kurt, and Becca where...well I'll let you read it to see how that played out! Let me tell you though it was sooooo good! ;) The end of the book is exactly the kind of ending I adore. Brielle is definitely able to replace some of those bad memories with good ones for her future claustrophobic episodes. And Ms. Rylon could leave the series at that BUT according to her website she has more in this series coming!! I can't wait to see what happens next! I know a lot of people waited a long time for this book and it is so worth the wait. As always Ms. Rylon never disappoints.

Interesting story, Brielle is a woman that has been physically and mentally abused and has developed a phobia of small spaces. Brielle has a chance encounter with a handsome stranger at the vegan store and she is amazed at the way her body zings at the thought of him. She then decided to stop being afraid and seek help for her hangups. Luke's instantaneous attraction to Brielle has him thinking that he can't wait to visit that little store again. When fate seals the deal and her appointment with a psychologist turns out to be with the gorgeous Dr. Luke, he intends to make sure she doesn't slip away. He sees that his attraction is going to get in the way of her treatment so he enlist the aid of his very, very good friends, also doctors that specialize in all things kinky. Luke has a special relationship with these doctors and their research into dreams and sexual stimuli is quite interesting. Luke and Brielle almost spontaneously combust due to their off the charts chemistry. Brielle, considering her past and all her misplaced trust is a hot mess but it doesn't keep her from doing what her body wants to do (she is not shy, even though she is inexperienced)and Luke almost has a hard time keeping up with her. (No play on words there, honest.) It was an unconventional love story and the helpful doctors dedication to helping their friends live out their personal fantasies for the work of science was at times a stretch, but oh well it was hot.....

"It was okay" trifft genau den Kern des Buches.

Wow, that was good! I have to say I enjoyed this book immensely, the sense of fun overplaying the despair was perfect, and the cameos from those men in blue, sigh....... okay back to Luke and Brielle! I really, I say that a lot, but I really do like the sense of hope that Brielle brings when she could be all doom and gloom. Luke's silly side is amazing to counterpoint Kurt's darker side and Becca's seriousness. I love this couple, they are fun and silly and romantic, just darn perfect!

Loved loved loved this story! I enjoyed Dream Machine as was excited to learn about Luke's story. It was great that Becca and Kurt were in this one as well. I loved getting to see how things had progressed for them while at the same time having their past make an appearance. I can't say enough good things about this one!!

Eh. Not as good as the first one. It's okay. The probability factors were just a bit too extreme for my reality driven mind.

The addition of ALL the Men In Blue felt a little forced. Well, it felt natural right until Jeremy was involved. Jeremy was a tech dude, he wouldn't have been on patrol at all.

Other than that, it was alright.

Good book

This second book of the series was an interesting read. The storyline is rather unique. The couples involved are likeable. The sex is intense. Worth purchasing.
