A Scandalous Marriage

Rate this book
The longer William and June go on without June's conceiving, the more concerned she becomes. Especially since William's old flame is now free to marry again and, according to his mother, would make him much the better wife. And then a handsome charmer turns his attentions to June. Pushed apart by jealousy, William and June must fight to keep their marriage alive. Sometimes, it seems, their mutual passion is all that holds them together . . .

This is my first book by this author and definetely not the last will try to get more books by her, this one i liked it a lot

the issue taken is the hero is married to heroine, has always remained faithful and loves and adores his wife but then ex-flame comes claiming that the hero has fathered her daughter which brings rift among hubby-wife and along with the mystery element the story was good to read

The ex-flame is one manipulative vile woman who wants hero back in her bed, there's no love from her side its all about money, but she plays her cards really well and hero's mother does'nt likes the heroine a lot and supports the ex-flame and helps her in a way by giving her details of her son's social gathering so that ex-flame can come there at the same time as the hero and the mother in law is helping the ex-flame cause she thinks the heroine is barren,so many years have passed the nursery is empty so even if this is a bastard child but least she will be a grandmother

The hero and this ex-flame were betrothed to be married but the woman choose another man with more money and hence the betrothal was broken, there's mystery also involved will not give it away

The hero-heroine both love each other but since the ex-flame starts to make it plain to everyone she wants hero back and with heroine's insecurities and child issues she starts doubting and mother-in-law another story and then there's another man starts to flirt with heroine which creates more rifts and distance between them

what i really liked was hero is one moralistic man,a good husband has never been unfaithful or shown signs of straying and always makes it clear to his mother he is happy with his wife even if they don't have children he will always be contented and happy with his marriage but with rumours starting it becomes more n more difficult for him to fight

This is a 5 star story but i gave 4 stars cause i was a little disappointed after a while the wife in between stops to fight to save her marriage and her trust starts to shake and she also has low self-esteem,if they both would have remained united till the end then it would have added more sparks to the story but anyways they get their much deserves HEA

It was a good read

A different plot for the regency romance era, the couple is already married from.the start. Thought it was interesting and fresh.

William and June have been married several years but have no children yet. This and the arrival in town of William's former fiancee lead to rumours and heartache. Good read.
