Well I have finished the excellent introduction. And will now be dipping into the subsequent pages to enhance my knowledge of the City of London. What a magnificent series!

It's a pity this was already out of date on publication and of course dates further on an almost weekly basis ... but its serves its purpose as an authority one can use and quote willy-nilly without having to go into county records, surveys, building plans, planning applications, English Heritage entries, academic treatises, subscription-only journals and giant coffee table tomes, all of which seem to use 'Baldy' anyway. And,er, Bradley, and Cherry,et al.

This is a wonderful and very, very thorough series of architectural guides to London. They aren't, however, very convenient for carrying around with all the other tourist junk that needs to go in a bag.
