Maintenance Night

Rate this book
"Maintenance Night." The very words make a submissive woman shudder in dread – and anticipation.

Lacey has always been just such a woman, and now she’s also a spanked wife, subject to her dominant husband’s rules, his discipline, and most of all, his desires.

She loves Troy with every atom of her being, and can’t get enough of him. But if that’s the case, why does she persist in disobeying him? For a loving couple in a serious D/s marriage, disobedience has its punishments – and its rewards.

And it’s on Maintenance Night that her husband decides to take Lacey’s submission to a deeper, even more intimate level.

Warning – this BDSM short novella features the following themes: spanking, caning, Dominance/submission (M/F), sadomasochism, bondage, explicit sex (including anal), a Dom who loves his wife, and a sweet, but disobedient sub who might be in over her head.

Most people look forward to Friday night because it's the beginning of the weekend. Lacey both dreads and loves Friday nights because it is Maintenance Night. Lacey and her husband Troy practice domestic discipline. Every Friday's, Troy takes Lacey to task for any mistakes she's made or even perceived ones. It's basically for Troy to keep Lacey reminded to be a good wife.

In case anyone thinks Troy created impossible rules, theses were all pre-negotiated by Lacey with Troy. She's just a little surprised how well he's taken to it, specifically the enforcing and doling out of pain.

Lacey hate the pain yet she craves it which is evident by her constantly leaking pussy. It's not often a male writer nails the woman's voice down so well. Trent does a pretty good job. His presentation of Troy is a bit disconcerting. Troy comes across at times cruel and unloving in the eyes of Lacey. It makes Lacey wonder if she's changed her husband for the worse. It plays on an easy fear strong women who want to submit. If a woman is submissive and enjoys impact play, will her beloved husband no longer respect her? Will he cease to love her? Will she just be something he enjoys beating and won't care for her anymore? Will he lose the soft and loving side?

This is the second book I've read by Trent. This book is much better in the writing. The story is tightly written with a clear beginning, middle and end. The main character is easily understandable. The BDSM scenes are hawt - very nicely done. Can't wait to read what will be written next. Recommended for kinky lovers who enjoy some pain with their domestic discipline.

Oh yummy! You all know how much I like the M part of the S&M. I can completely handle DD (Domestic Discipline) even though I'm not that fond of the punishment concept. Nah..don't try to figure me out--just accept it. I really enjoyed this tightly written very sexy story. All parts of it were nailed (including the lady haha!). Nothing detracted - because it was not written as if it was a full story of their entire lives. The title indicates what it is - and it is dead.bang.on. Interesting characters - a husband that might be enjoying the whole discipline thing a little more than wifeypoo would have anticipated. Very hot pain/sex. So in other words - I was completely lovin' it. Well worth the purchase! Recommended!

Edited to Add the following to help clarify:

In general I dislike the punishment dynamic that comes from a mindset of someone knows better than me how I should behave and is going to hit me to get me to do it. This is separate from non-con impact or from books that use punishment in a very erotic way (even with extremely harsh punishment).

Upon reflection (it is hinted at in the review above) I realized why I liked this so much. Because he WANTED to give her pain - he got off on it. That skews it completely for me and removes it from solely DD type and puts it back in the realm of sadism more and I love it. There is something for me about taking pain for another that pushes all my buttons. I don't necessarily think it is "masochist" although I am that. It's one part of submission that thrills me. Pain (and only pain) that someone gives because they can, because they enjoy it, because they like to see the reaction. I felt it very strongly in this one.

So for me it wasn't about the concept of a punishment at all - I was looking at the darker dynamic underlying what was occurring and that is why I liked it. It reminded me a bit of Tria and Prima. The shortness of it worked for me because it was basically just a scene with some background - any longer and I'd of been complaining it was incomplete. I thought he kept it very tight to the actual scene while providing just enough info to get some understanding of the overall picture.

"Shh, just be quiet, little girl. I don't need your words. I need your cries."

Troy knows just how to get what he needs from Lacey too!

There isn't much background story given with this one. Yet, the love and trust between husband and wife is obviously well-developed. It's a fast read and gets to the point quickly...my kinda fun.

As Troy pushes Lacey's (and his own) limits, the blend of fear, desire, need, and pain is felt from both the dominant and submissive perspectives beautifully. Add in the right spice of bondage and it's a perfect how-to for anyone looking for a DD romance.

Okay, just to be fair...trying this at home could lead to lots of standing for awhile...but who's complaining ;)

After reading several beautifully written and thoughtful comments on various aspects of the BDSM lifestyle by this author, I looked forward to this short, slice of life story by Trent Evans. Troy and Lacey are married and, as a result of Lacey's request, have added domestic discipline - both maintenance and punishment - to their marriage. It is clear that Lacey is a masochist, and, at least to some extent, submissive. Troy has taken to this lifestyle change like the proverbial duck to water - clearly embracing his inner sadist.

I have difficulty with the concept of punishment in general, and I'm completely mystified about maintenance. I knew that this book was going to be, at least to some degree, uncomfortable to read. I'd hoped for some insight and understanding about maintenance - why it is used, and what it accomplishes. I'd also looked forward to an enjoyable, erotic read - let's face it, if I really want more clarity on this subject I'd be better off choosing nonfiction. ;)

This book simply didn't work for me. Emphasis was on the punishment scenes themselves (to my count, there were 4 distinct and extreme "punishments") and very little on emotions. We are told Lacey loves Troy, that she is confused by the extent of punishment she is receiving, and that she dreads, hates, and is humiliated by various methods Troy uses. He certainly has chosen to throw the book at her this particular night. The pain, and Lacey's physical reaction to it, is described very effectively, but I continually wondered "why". Why so hard, why so much?

Punishment was added to their Friday night maintenance (I wasn't clear on which part was maintenance and which punishment, although I don't think that is particularly important), because Lacey had neglected to tell Troy her period had ended. She found it humiliating that she had to tell him when it started and when it ended (I have no idea why a wife would find it humiliating to tell her husband about her period). No explanation was given as to why Troy required this, and it seemed a rather silly thing to be punished over.

No, it wasn't the fact that Lacey was punished that bothered me, she clearly wanted it and Troy wanted to dole it out. It was the extent, and intensity - in my opinion way over the top. I didn't quite feel that law enforcement should be called in, but I did wonder if Lacey was suffering from some form of spousal Stockholm Syndrome and perhaps needed some kink aware counseling. She is confused and concerned about why Troy has gone so far with punishment. Her confusion isn't really addressed, just stated. We don't get Troy's point of view, which may have helped. And, in an explanation that drives me slightly batty, it was all okay because she was wet.

Troy comes off as cold, callous and cruel - not loving and caring. I had a particularly difficult time with the use of a sexual practice as punishment - that strikes me as a good way to make someone view something intimate, as something hated. Troy does ask Lacey if she needs to use her safe word - but it felt more like a dare than anything else. She begs him for mercy, he gives her none.

Lacey's feeling at the end of her ordeal is one of relief and some pride in enduring the experience. I couldn't help wondering if, when the endorphins clear, Lacey will decide that next Friday night will be better spent elsewhere - far, far away from her husband. Certainly, it is hard to imagine her ever saying TGIF in the future.

"Maintenance Night Meant She Would Be Spanked"
 photo 1457544664950_zpsr2hrqhvc.jpg

“What were the odds; Lacey-the-twisted-closet-pain-slut finds the man of her darkest, fevered dreams? The man who not only knew how to fuck (oh Christ, did he), but a man who complemented her need to feel pain, with his need to give it?”

I love all types of Bdsm books. But my absolute favorite are the ones involving married couples (D/s Marriage) That are normal everyday people and not some hot billionaire and young lady. I loved Troy & Lacey's story. But the only negative thing I will say is, it seem like they both were knew to this. Troy at times seem to take it a little to far, using the whole safeword against her, and the whole period thing was very strange to me (he needs a little more education/experience) Lacey needs to speak up more. I know all to well about wanting to please your husband but you can talk about your fears...
Remember, in this kind of relationship, the most important thing is; "Communication!"

A married couple. Friday evening. It’s Maintenance Night. Are they doing DIY? Well, in a sense, yes. They’re engaging in the ‘upkeep’ of their relationship. It just so happens that their form of nurture involves some spanking and caning.

This is the first Trent Evans book I’ve read and I have to say I really, really liked it. Maintenance Night is relatively short, weighing in at just fifty-one pages, but it doesn’t suffer from what I like to call ‘small book syndrome’ (a tale as threadbare as a two-hundred-year-old rug or a story that’s so ridiculously overstuffed that it's afflicted by literary indigestion). The plot is strong and simple – as mentioned above, it focuses on a single night in the life of a married couple – and the action is centred on them connecting with one another through D/s.

Maintenance Night touched on some concepts that resonated particularly strongly with me. Firstly, courage and open-mindedness. I wanted to cheer Lacey, the female protagonist, for having the bottle to speak up and ask her husband to spank and discipline her, and Troy, her other half, for being so accepting of her needs. (No baulking from this man.) Secondly, the extremely positive portrayal of impact play (and BDSM in general) within an existing, committed relationship was extremely refreshing. Bluntly, it was nice to see two people, already together, still discovering and challenging one another. What a great way to be!

The author also makes a concerted effort in Maintenance Night to highlight that what goes on between Lacey and Troy follows the ‘safe, sane and consensual’ mantra, which, for me, instantly increased its appeal. As they play, Troy consistently checks in with his wife and, when he raises the stakes, he reminds her of her safeword – and, thus, of her choice to participate. He’s a thinking Dom who knows when to hold his hand – and when push it.

‘His low voice was back at her ear. “Do you need to say it?”
She shook her head, feeling the first tear track down her cheek. Her hands twisted in his grip, so determined were they to swipe away the evidence of her defeat.
“I’ll be right back.” He pressed his slacks against her, his huge erection hard against her soft, burning bottom. “Keep them there. If you move an inch, we’ll start over.”’

I made the fatal error of giving this book to my husband to read on my iPad while we were waiting for our kids to finish swimming lessons. By the time he’d reached the end of Maintenance Night half-an-hour later and we were due to collect them, he was as worked up as I was. We spent the rest of the day squirming in our seats with no possible outlet. So clearly this book appeals equally to both genders!

There was only one thing I felt was missing from this story – Troy’s point-of-view. Maintenance Night is written in the third-person and focuses on Lacey's thoughts and feelings. While the narration is wonderful, I would have liked to have known what was going on in Troy’s head. (I got a pretty good idea from the way he behaved but what can I say? I like to crawl around inside the minds of my fictional characters.)

Finally, a guilty secret. I’m not sure why, but I tend to buy erotica written by women rather than men. Possibly because I unconsciously (or not so unconsciously) make the invalid assumption that I’ll have a stronger connection with the sexual and emotional feelings expressed by female writers. Maintenance Night has shown me how ridiculous I’ve been in not embracing more male erotica authors. This is a great story and a must for those who enjoy tales of domestic discipline (DD) and/or Dominance and submission (D/s).

And Mr Evans? Great cover.

Or maybe a cold strong drink and a hot night with my hubbie! Oh my goodness!
I did see two typos. But lord have mercy if I can remember them! This book is HOT!
Erotica the way you really want it. Beautifully written. Flows smooth and delicious.
An actual story with solid characters. Lacey and Troy are intense.
And this is just the prequel! I don't know if this old body can take the heat.
I may just spontaneously combust.

I have never heard of this author named Trent Evans but now that I have read this book, I am addicted to this author. I opened the e-book and never once put it down until the last page.

Lacey craves pain and to be pushed beyond her limits by her husband Troy. Troy loves pushing her beyond her limits because he knows she wants it but really she needs the pain, she craves to see how far past her limits she can be pushed. She knows Troy loves her and all she would have to do is say their safe word but just when you think she is going to say it and stop all the pain, she keeps right on pushing through. In some peoples eyes the pain in this book will be construed as abuse but it's not. Some people crave candy but Lacey craves candy in the form of pain. I wondered at times if Lacey didn't do as she was told because she knew Troy would punish her in a way she truly wanted.

You can feel the connection between Troy and Lacey. Even though Troy seems to become a man without no feelings while he is punishing Lacey but you can still tell he loves her and does this to her because of that love. He wants her to be happy and pushing her beyond normal limits makes her very happy. I thought even though some of the scenes seemed rough, even through all the pain, I could see the beauty of wanting to please your spouse in the way they needed and wanted.

The ending was very unexpected but I am sure people who live this lifestyle have to find a way to deal with what life throws at you. Troy and Lacey are characters who I fell in love with right away. Troy is tough but gentle all at the same time. Lacey wants to please Troy but knows if she doesn't do what is expected, Troy will bring her to the brink of breaking but oh the rewards are well worth it.

I loved this story - that about wraps it up. Beautiful cover, nicely written, good, tight story. I liked Lacey very much, she seemed very real and her reactions, fears, and desire to please her husband were all believable. I liked Troy very much as well and would have loved to hear his thoughts too. Punishment scenes were hot and sexy and it just truly delivered. Well done.

Phew! This story is a hot and intimate glimpse into the domestic discipline arrangement in Lacey’s marriage. Their DD focuses on a regular night of spanking that her husband, Troy, likes to call maintenance and Lacey both fears and revels in her Friday Maintenance. Troy has instilled some humiliating demands into their marriage providing good excuse for punishment when Lacey fails to meet them.

There is a twist to the story at the end, a twist because Lacey does not clue the reader into her deception from the beginning. I had a slight problem with this. Her motivation for lying in the first place is not entirely clear. Is she lying to ensure her husband punishes her? That would make sense, but her thoughts on the subject led me to believe otherwise.

There were some lovely turns of phrases in Mr Evan’s writing, some very natural thoughts from Lacey, and the detail of Lacey’s punishment is very erotic. Anyone who enjoys reading DD will love it, and anyone who doesn’t will probably enjoy it anyway, despite any reservations along the way.

Overall a 5. I’ve read this twice and it’s still very hot the second read through!

Oh My! I feel like I need to go take a cold shower after reading this. Maintenance Night was an intense read that had me squirming in parts and needing to take breathers.

It's maintenance night and Lacey is dreading it as always. She knows she agreed to it but it doesn't make it any easier to handle. She loves Troy and trusts him but on this night he will push her submission to the limits.

Troy is the Dom of our dreams. He is firm and unrelenting with Lacey. He doesn't take no for an answer and reminds Lacey that unless it's her safe word that is uttered then she would be best keeping her mouth shut.

I was drawn in from the first few pages and couldn't put it down until it was finished. Evans writes intense detailed scenes that drag you into Lacey's world. At times, you feel her pain and also her gratification towards her husband. I plan to read more of Evans work in the future.

All pain and shame

I was really disappointed in this story. I've read Domestic Discipline stories before where the couple has a "maintenance night", which is usually a moderate spanking that has nothing to do with punishment, which is usually handled separately. But this guy used maintenance night as an excuse to beat his wife in "punishment" that she didn't even understand. She thinks repeatedly that she doesn't understand why he's being more cruel than usual, but she refuses to safeword, out of what seems to be a misguided attempt to prove herself to him. He seemed to make it all about meeting his need to flaunt his power over her. Just once I'd like to see some of these types of doms have to take the pain and humiliation that they so eagerly dish out.

This was my first read by Trent Evans and all I can say is WOW! I have read a few domestic discipline stories but this one had me urging Lacie to use her safeword. It was emotionally raw for me. I knew Troy would know when Lacie reached her limits. I couldn't understand Lacie's mindset when she confessed at the end and why she didn't tell him right off about the lie. I enjoyed this but also found it hard to handle. For a short story, it had me thinking a lot about what Lacie went through. I always know a good story when it has me thinking about it long after I finished reading it. Great job Trent.

This was a very short read but it was quite enjoyable. I really liked reading this type of book written by a man, honestly I didn't think I would like it as much but I absolutely did. Lacey is happily married to Troy & some time ago suggested he start spanking her, he agreed & after time he made Friday nights maintenance nights to keep her on track. The book takes place on a Friday night & Troy has some new things he wants to try with Lacey & even though she is a little reluctant she is also very turned on.

This book is hot from start to finish. I was sucked in immediately and was literally panting by page three. The writing is crisp and clean-- Trent Evans weaves the internal conflict deftly into vivid sex and punishment scenes. The sadism of the punishment is so perfectly balanced with love and sexual satisfaction that it never crosses the line into too much. I simply loved this little book and would recommend it to any spanko!

Maintenance Night was a quick, hot read. This is a BDSM book involving a married couple and I haven't come across those often. I enjoy reading about that sort of dynamic.

I love an alpha-male and we certainly get one within these pages. Love, sadism, masochism, hot sex all packed into a tight short story. Certainly fun! I love that it was written by a man; often these books are written by a female and I really enjoyed discovering the small and slight variations in perspective.

Maintenance Night is a love story where both partners had agreed to the roles of the relationship and committed themselves to the relationship. Troy is always aware of Lacey's limits and what she needs. He pushes the limits and gets her to go further and takes very good care of her all the way to the end of maintenance night. The details of the relationship expressed by the characters, draws the reader into the bedroom with them as they play. I loved the twist at the end.

I've read quite a lot of DD books and this seems as far from that loving kind of relationship as possible. DD is about loving discipline and not until the very end of the story do you even get a hint that this guy loves his wife.
I'd heard positive things about this author, but so far I'm not impressed. I'm gonna read another book of his and see if my mind is changed. I'm very relieved this was a free Amazon prime book.

Loved it! It is demanding BDSM and the participants revel in it which makes it all the better

The build up is so good, and you realize she craves his attention and actions. The ending really wasn't all the unexpected with the hints dropped but that wasn't the arc of the story

It is short but it is good, definitely worth a read

I was going to give this book one star. But the ending had me laughing, so I gave it two.

There was no story line, but a night of 'punishment' and sex... that was it. A very short book indeed. Half hour reading, if that.

It was in the females point of view !
