Donald John Trump is an American politician, media personality, and businessman who currently serves as the President of the United States in his second term.

Trump received a Bachelor of Science in economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1968, and his father named him president of his real estate business in 1971. Trump renamed it the Trump Organization and reoriented the company toward building and renovating skyscrapers, hotels, casinos, and golf courses. After a series of business failures in the late twentieth century, he successfully launched side ventures that required little capital, mostly by licensing the Trump name. From 2004 to 2015, he co-produced and hosted the reality television series The Apprentice. He and his businesses have been plaintiff or defendant in more than 4,000 state and federal legal actions, including six business bankruptcies.
Trump won the 2016 presidential election as the Republican Party nominee against Democratic Party nominee Hillary Rodham Clinton while losing the popular vote. During the campaign, his political positions were described as populist, protectionist, isolationist, and nationalist. His election and policies sparked numerous protests. He was the first U.S. president with no prior military or government experience. A special counsel investigation established that Russia had interfered in the 2016 election to favor Trump's campaign. Trump promoted conspiracy theories and made many false and misleading statements during his campaigns and presidency, to a degree unprecedented in American politics. Many of his comments and actions have been characterized as racially charged or racist and many as misogynistic.
As president, Trump ordered a travel ban on citizens from several Muslim-majority countries, diverted military funding toward building a wall on the U.S.–Mexico border, and implemented a policy of family separations for migrants detained at the U.S. border. He weakened environmental protections, rolling back more than 100 environmental policies and regulations. He signed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, which cut taxes for individuals and businesses and rescinded the individual health insurance mandate penalty of the Affordable Care Act. He appointed Neil Gorsuch, Brett M. Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court. He reacted slowly to the COVID-19 pandemic, ignored or contradicted many recommendations from health officials, used political pressure to interfere with testing efforts, and spread misinformation about unproven treatments. Trump initiated a trade war with China and withdrew the U.S. from the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement, the Paris Agreement on climate change, and the Iran nuclear deal. He met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un three times but made no progress on denuclearization.
Trump refused to concede after losing the 2020 presidential election to Joe Biden, falsely claiming widespread electoral fraud, and attempted to overturn the results by pressuring government officials, mounting scores of unsuccessful legal challenges, and obstructing the presidential transition. On January 6, 2021, he urged his supporters to march to the U.S. Capitol, which many of them then attacked, resulting in multiple deaths and interrupting the electoral vote count.

Trump is the only American president to have been impeached twice. After he tried to pressure Ukraine in 2019 to investigate Biden, he was impeached by the House of Representatives for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. He was acquitted by the Senate in February 2020. The House impeached him again in January 2021 for incitement of insurrection. The Senate acquitted him in February. Scholars and historians rank Trump as one of the worst presidents in American history.

Love or hate him, Trump ran his presidential campaign simultaneously with an empire ranking him #334 on Forbes 2016 Billionaire List. The book's 2 most-repeated quotes reveal much :
1. “Make it happen in your life.”
2. “Insist on perfection."

However, unlike the candidly raw Art of the Deal, this book seems to be largely ghost-written.

“My principles" :
————————
1. Do the best job possible
2. Build as quickly as possible
3. Spend the least amount of money needed to meet your standards

Other Notes
----------

“Don’t waste your life on work you don’t love.”

“Because I love what I do, I do it vigorously, and I do it better.”

“Remember the saying ‘It’s lonely at the top’ ? I don’t agree. Someone who didn’t want any competition probably coined it."

“It’s okay to start small… you’ll build momentum, and move forward in a natural, comfortable progression.”

“I’m tough, determined, and persistent, and there’s no way I would have become successful without these traits.”

A tip to toughen up : “Become a planner.”

“It’s rare I go out for lunch… going out for lunch interrupts the day.”

“The value of preparation cannot be overestimated... Be prepared to work every single day at full capacity."

"Don’t give up, ever. Be tough and tenacious."

“Surround yourself with beauty… Beauty and elegance are products of personal style that come from deep within. Contact with beauty… exposes successful people to an excellence from which they can learn, grow, and improve their lives… Instead of delivering good, serviceable items, this new understanding can drive you to furnish only the best.”

“The key to striking a deal is persuasion, not power.”

“Make your adversaries feel that they are your partners, not your victims.”

“Be meticulous… Know the minimum you must receive to make the deal, and the maximum you will pay. If you can’t strike a deal within that framework, be ready to walk away… Get proof, documentation, and solid figures.”

“You must practice, practice, practice.”

“If you don’t have problems, then you don’t have a job.”

“Whoever works for me has to move fast.”

“Where there’s a will, there’s a win.”

“Swim against the tide. The comfort zone can pull you under.”

“The easiest way can be the mediocre way.”

“Plug into your own energy.”

“I believe if you remain true to your beliefs and work diligently, good things will occur.”

“Each new project is an adventure… a blank page that I can’t wait to fill. I get excited because I love to investigate, dig in new areas, acquire information, put it together, and gain an in-depth understanding of something completely new. I’ve had this feeling at every stage of my career. It’s how I begin every successful project. I consider it a sign. If I don’t feel excited, I usually pass on the opportunity, even if it could produce huge profits. My enthusiasm drives me to learn, and what I learn gives me more control.”

“Remain open.”

“In my life, I want each day to be full of discoveries. And I frequently wonder what I’ll be learning each day… When I learn, it makes me feel great, alive, and excited.”

“Since everything always changes, constantly re-evaluate the big picture… Make the changes work for you… I decided to adapt by doubling my work hours. It wasn’t a big sacrifice because I love what I do, and I’ve always been a hard worker… I’m happier, and more productive than ever, and those who want to compete with me have to keep up. Always move forward, or you’ll be left with crumbs…”

“Make it your goal to create a business that will remain in business for many years.”

“Don’t be stagnant, complacent, or rest on your laurels, no matter how successful you’ve been. Giving 50% is not enough. Your clients and customers deserve more. They deserve your best.”

“Leadership is not a group effort. If you’re in charge, then be in charge.”

“Keep everyone moving forward.”

“Live on the edge.”

“Business is all about patience and timing… Although speed is tempting because it can mean big and quick profits, it can also cause early exits. So wait for the right deal.”

“Impatience can give the other side the upper hand. For some projects, I’ve waited upto 30 years until all my requirements could be met. For others, I’m still waiting… When the terms aren’t right, stand firm, be strong, and don’t give in.”

“Control the tempo, and you can usually control the game…. You’re in charge. Others must respond to you when you set the agenda, and the speed at which the game runs, which increases your chances of winning.”

“Invite change into your life and business… Don’t be so rigid that you can be broken.”

“Once we counted an average of 400 calls a day to my office.”

“Speed kills the competition.”

“Being concise is polite. It shows you respect other people’s time.”

“Busy people work in soundbites.”

“Always do more. Constantly try to top yourself.”

“Begin by working with your internal processes, how you greet each day. Before you get out of bed, take a few moments to welcome the day. Think of the reasons why today can be special, or important to your future.”

“No person who is enthusiastic about his work has anything to fear from life.” - Samuel Goldman

“Being satisfied can undermine you, and keep you from reaching your potential.”

“You don’t know what pressure is until you owe billions of dollars to banks and they all want their money at once.”

“Take good care of those that help you, and they will take care of you.“

“Be in the zone… a certain level of performance where everything comes naturally, easily, and seems to flow... When I make deals, I make them in the zone. I feel like I’m doing what I was born to do… a feeling I savor and try to repeat.”

“Results matter more than routes. Let people follow their own path.”

“Not really trying cheats you, and everyone you work with.”

“Are your habits consistent with your ambitions and values?”

“Approach your work as an artform. Work brilliantly.”

“Don’t be afraid to ask what you’re worth. Create goods and services that you’re proud of and can stand behind.”

“The most successful entrepreneurs compete with themselves to be the best they can be. They know competing with others could lower their own standards.”

“If you accept glory, be willing to accept blame.”

“Eliminate all distractions and give your full attention to your work. I’m constantly surprised at how easily people lose focus…”

“It takes courage to persist… it means working day after day, year after year without becoming discouraged, worn down or bitter.”

“Join the Explorer’s Club. Learn about the mysteries of life.”

“I didn’t say it was easy, I said it was simple.”

“Confidence is a magnet that will draw people to you… uncertainty can destroy your chances of success.”

“Never let anyone undermine your confidence, especially yourself.”

“So many successful people never want to retire… Experts hate to give up the mastery of their business.”

“Working fast also helps me build the stamina to maintain and strengthen my pace.”

“I consciously think about my momentum. I monitor it, and work hard to keep it going.”

“When you sense the onset of inertia… treat it like negative thinking and zap it at its first appearance. Don’t let inertia hold you back, because it can be murder to shake.”

“I firmly believe in constraints, and I diligently monitor and try to control my momentum… Harness your energy… As your momentum carries you, stay in control.”

“Rarely is anything that’s worth doing problem-free.”

“Since everyone makes mistakes, try to be understanding when other people fail. Don’t immediately give up on them. You wouldn’t want anyone to write you off without a fair chance.”

“Dealing with trouble promptly is usually the best approach, and usually more cost-effective…”

“Reach within to rise above.”

“Achievers have motors that drive them forward at all times. They don’t have neutral or reverse…”

“Never, ever give up. Your higher self continually needs to be fed so it can grow. That part of you must constantly strive to build a productive, fulfilling life that is rich in the things that are most essential to you, which doesn’t necessarily mean money.”

“Concentrate on the target, not on the weapon.”

In true Donald Trump fashion, each 3- or 4-page chapter is very straightforward descriptions of mentalities to have. These are great if you seek to be a driven, productive worker, and would definitely require an immense amount of energy to accomplish.

"Energy is the key to accomplishment. Harness your energy and you will have the ability to achieve your goals" (161).

I think many would read this book and say "well, I don't have the freedom or flexibility in my job to put these into practice," to which Trump addresses in the very first chapter "Don't Waste Your Life on Work You Don't Love," and until then, there will likely be a disconnect between application of these 33 conceptual chapters and our own work lives.

As a Trump fan I really enjoyed this book - 30 lil golden nuggets and important lessons from the perspective of a billionaire as well how they applied to his own life and real business examples ... Giving you albeit small , yet nevertheless important insights into Trumps world and his way of thinking. The Q and A section at the end of each chapter with answers directly from The Donald himself further helped this too

I also really enjoyed how we were treated to Trumps typical schedule and what his day goes like with commentary of what he got up to - which was randomly peppered amongst the chapters throughout the book - again giving us a peek into the world of a billionaire and how actually ones day would look like with such responsibility and wealth - and you can see the man is busy as well puts the man hours in throughout his daily schedule juggling one thing to another in business aswell as personal family life

I'd recommend this whether your a trump fan or just entrepreneur / biz owner looking for more inspiration ...

To Our Continued Success!

I'm a fan of Trump. I will admit that. But this is a book of practical advise about how to make yourself a more positive and focused business person.

Also, Mr. Trump gives you a look into the way he makes deals, things he looks for and even the fact that he alludes to a meditation practice.

All in all, if you are not a fan of Trump, you may not like this book. But if you are a fan of business, this would be a good book to read.

Passion is absolutely necessary to achieve any kind of long-lasting success. If you don't have passion, everything you do will ultimately fizzle or, at best, be mediocre (p.2).
"Playing golf with business associates crates a relaxing atmosphere where everyone has fun. It gets them away from the office and into the sunshine and beauty of nature (p.3). See if any of your interests can be turned into a viable source of income. Don't begin a career solely for money or to please others, especially if it isn't what you love (p.4). Passion is a double-edged sword; it's a great motivator, but it can blind you and prevent you from seeing flaws that others can quickly spot (p.5).

"Ask yourself 'what is the standard for which I want to be known?' Identify that standard and follow it. Don't shortchange yourself. Set the high!" (p.8)

Don't limit yourself. Don't build a single-family house without first seeing how much more it would take to make it into a multi-unit building or even a development (p.12). "If you're going to be thinking, you might as well think big". Start with small steps and work your way up by taking bigger and bigger steps (p.13).

Being tough doesn't mean being nasty, difficult, or unreasonable. It means being tenacious and refusing to give in or give up (p.16). Things of value rarely come easy and usually require lots of preparation, time, and hard work.
"What if Michelangelo had said 'I don't do ceilings,' and walked away from painting the Sistine Chapel?" (p.18).

If you enter a deal without sufficient knowledge, you will be throwing away your time and money. Study your area of business. All business involves risk, but risk can be greatly reduced when oyu learn everything you can about what you're doing (p.26).
Ignorance is inexcusable; it's the surest way to fail. No acceptable reason exists for not being well informed. "The seeds of learning can grow almost anywhere, and you can never know too much about what you're doing." (p.30).
Make files to save important information you read. File the names of authors and business movers and shakers. Contact successful business people, authors, experts, and insiders and try to meet them or ask for their advice (p.31).

If your business is to move forward, unproductive people must go (p.33). Never fire an employee when you're angry or when other workers are present. Don't blow up in front of your employees. When you're displeased with a worker, discuss your feelings with him or her privately, not in an open, public area or where other employees might watch and overhear (p.34).

"Change is good and necessary....Repetition can put you to sleep." (p.44).

Determine what you have in common with anyone you deal with and lead with it. If you take the time, you can create a bond that didn't previously exist (p.52).
"When you're prepared, there's no reason to be nervous. Treat any speech or any pitch as an opportunity to shine--and you usually will. Always deliver the goods by giving your audience valuable information, no matter how many people are in the room."(p.53)

If you're starting a small business 1) Know the market 2) Do you research 3) Go with your gut. Trust your instincts 4) Be prepared to work every single day at full capacity 5) Don't give up--ever. Be tough and tenacious (p.54).

When you're exposed to beauty, you will want to bring elements of it into other parts of your life. That can help you rise to higher levels (p.57).
-If you want to learn the truth, try to bypass the agents and handlers go to the owner. "I believe that the key to striking a deal in persuasion, now power. Persuasion is diplomacy at its best--the ability to convince people to accept your ideas. You don't want to force people to accept your ideas. That's a recipe for disaster. Instead, you want them to think that the decision was theirs, which gives them a greater sense of power and control. Your objectives should be o make your adversaries feel like they're your partners, not your victims." (p.60)

"Don't let your expectations confine you" (p.61). "Know what the other side wants. Learn your adversary's strength and weaknesses (p.62).

"A leader has the right to be beaten, but never the right to be surprised."- Napoleon (p.66)

In the workplace, comfort will hold you back. When you begin feeling comfortable, it should sound an alarm that alerts you that you might be falling into a trap. Ask yourself "Have I stopped moving or have I become stuck?"(p.82). Ignore the expectations of others (p.83).
When dealing with stress, acknowledge the problem, and move on to things that are more positive(p.84).

Making money should not be your primary purpose because if it is, you can end up with little else. (p.85)

The main objective is to produce a string of hits and have your company survive. Although speed is tempting because it can mean big and quick profits, it can also cause early exits. "So wait for the right deal; think about the long term, which requires planning, patience, and discipline." (p.102)
"When I'm in negotiations, especially if I really want something, I often use timing to get an edge. One of my tactics is to lay back and act as if I'm not sure whether I want the deal or not. This throws off the competition and gives me more time to asses exactly what I want and how to get it. When I hold back, I ask myself, 'Why do I want this deal?' 'How much do I want it?' 'What is motivating me?' (p.103).

If during negotiations you seem overly eager or show your and too soon, the price can skyrocket and the terms can change. Impatience can give the other side the upper hand, which usually makes it harder to strike a deal. (p.104) Control the tempo and can usually control the game. When you play at your tempo, you're in charge (p.105).

If you insist on following fixed patters, i can limit you and your future (p.106). Don't get too secure in your comfort zone. When you get too comfortable, you can become complacent and never grow or broaden your experiences. Staying you may give you a secure life, but it can also be dull, stagnant, and unproductive (p.107).

Business is no place for stream-of-consciousness babbling, no matter how colorfully you think you speak. Whatever you do, keep it short, fast, and right to the point. Being concise is polite; it shows that you respect other people's time. When most folks have to listen to endless discourses, they squirm, their minds wander, or they frequently, don't listen. Instead of making their points, long-winded talkers turn off their audiences (p.114). "If you can't write your idea on the back of my calling card, you don't have a clear idea." -David Belasco. Brevity is important, but do not shorten information to the point that you become unclear. In communications, clarity is always the top priority (p.117).

"I don't mind working hard, but I see absolutely no reason to work stupidly" Review your habits and make sure that they are taking you in the right direction. Are your habits consistent with your ambitions and values? Are they providing the results you want and producing them in the right way? (P.131). Results are what matter; the rest is style (p.132).

Solving problems is the key to running a successful business (p.140).
"Don't find a fault, find a remedy"- Henry Ford (p.141).
Learn to be an invaluable team player (p.142).

"Courage is grace under pressure"-Ernest Hemingway

You won't be successful following someone else's route. So spend some time focusing on your own path and your own purpose. (p.149) Uncertainty can destroy your chances of success. (p.156)
"I always expect problems. Rarely is anything that's worth doing problem free.

Interesting to pick up this book which is kind of a primer text for what was the Trump University courses. Donald Trump is an easy target for critics as we see everyday and much could be aimed and his homilies presented in this book. However one thing has to be admitted, though some wouldn't, that he does manage to get things done more so than most.

The book is divided into short subject topic in which Trump expounds on his personal philosophies of success and business. Many of the ideas are simplistic phraseology that emphasize giving it your all, and to get it tiger. Things like that nearly every motivational how to book will lay upon you. Though one may snicker at these directives there is still the common thread that effort produces results, and enthusiasm generally wins out over sarcasm.

Trump is never short on self promotion in the book and his ego driven life that we witness everyday is on full display here. Yet when one reads between the lines and looks for some of the cracks in the strategies they are also apparent. Like the failure of Trump University itself. And the infamous bail out in which he was rescued by the banking gods, when he could very well have been bankrupted. And with this we would have seen probably a different day, and certainly not the ascension to political power.

Reading this book one thing that I can describe is “inspired”. In this book is about the interview of one of Trump’s university interviewer asking him about business and some questions along the way also provide a glimpse into his schedule of a week. This book Trump talks about his business journey in terms of up and down and how he dealing with everyday problems occur to him.

Trump talks a lot about advice business but one advice that keeps getting mentioned from his is “Instinct” and he also mentioned due to that instinct that he had always winning big deal that he made and of course knowledge and experience are apart of it. Trump also share his dedication and perspective to his brand:

“I’ve worked hard to make sure the Trump name is only on projects of highest caliber and finest quality. I won’t approve anything that isn’t the top of the line because when people see or hear “Trump”, they expect the best. That’s just basic marketing and good business.”
-Donald J. Trump

“Trump 101, The Way to Success” I say it is a good book. Provide a lot of good advice which can apply not only business but in your life. Although I quite disappointed about how short the book is. Book is quite easy to read and understand because he also mentioned in this too about how he’s like make it simple not jargon.

Reading this book of a man I formerly loathed, i descovered some interesting facts. One of the biggest discoveries was that Trump is definetly a half-retarded hillbilly as the media tried to present him. He is smart, well educated, classy and highly capable individual. Secondly, everyone can learn a lot from him. The smaller downfall is that his books are sometimes too general in learning you secrets, but it's hardly a downfall when you realise he wants to learn you some common sense. The biggest problem I have with this book is that it promotes the mentality of never satisfied desires. It is never enough of riches and power - never. That is a shit and dangerous way to view the world, but again, what to expect from one of the world's most successful businessmen? Besides that dissagreement in our worldviews, I still think there is a lot to learn from this highly comphrehensible book.

Mr. Trump's wisdom and advice is invaluable. His writing are of a man who is playing a very big game, one much larger than most of us will ever achieve in business. However, he inspires you to find your way to the top like no one else, and that is why I enjoy his books.
I particularly liked this one as it was written during the time his son Barron was born, and you get a sense of how even a man with so many projects and a large enterprise to run still has time for his wife and child.
This book is consistent with his other writings, which is why I trouble listening to his modern day critics as they clearly do not understand where he is coming from. To fully understand him, you need to start by reading his books.

Set aside for moment whatever you think or feel about the author. This was written in 2007.

Clearly outstanding advice on success in life for everyone in any profession. This book is of benefit to those starting out in life as well those still in the arena. Certainly the emphasis is excelling in business but there is a strong focus on human relationships. I found the advice apropos to my military career, thus testifying to universal application. Place this is the self-improvement section on your personal bookshelf. I personally have matched this with "The Art of the Deal" and "Think Like a Champion" as Trump's best books,

This book spoke much about character growth and the essence of a leader. As a businessman to keep forward with passion, persistence, and courage even with fear being present. To also do your research and never be satisfied with the knowledge one has but to always be hungry for more. To be strongly driven. Overall I enjoyed my reading time as I gained new knowledge on Donald J. Trump’s POV of life.

Succinct, engaging.

“...courage... means working day after day, year after year, without becoming discouraged, worn down, or bitter. It means persisting, carrying on without letting up, and consistently giving your best.” p. 145
