In my opinion, this was a solid Star Trek fic. It had great character development for and between Kirk and Spock and plenty of interesting ‘missions’ along the way that really helped harken it back to the old show (which was important considering it’s set in Abrams ‘verse). However, I have to admit there were certain things that just didn’t gel with me. For example, I never really felt much of a connection between Kirk and Spock.

Well, no, I take that back; I felt a connection between them but it never really strengthened enough for me to believe certain aspects of the story. Which sounds weird but – I don’t know. It just didn’t work for me like it did for others. I suppose I just like more emotional development, maybe? Again, though, I don’t really know; I guess I just wasn’t completely sold on their connection.

Anyway, though, I really liked this fic. It was well-written, slow paced, and had some great Star Trek moments. Definitely worth a read if you’re in the mood.

2.5 bits of good story but overall inconsistent quality. I don't regret reading this but I am glad it's over.

This story has great plot with good character development. Less one star for slow pacing and not allotting enough scenes to the awesome Enterprise crew.
