An introduction to Romanesque and Gothic art and architecture in Western Europe between 1050-1450 ranges from the ecclesiastical splendor of vast churches to resplendent tapestries, manuscripts, and stained glass.
An excellent overview of Medieval art forms. With a heavy emphasis on architecture, it is written with the novice in mind (such as me!). I have had this on my bookshelf for years as a reference work, but this is the first time that I have read it in its entirety. Shame that I did not do so earlier. It is the second of a seven-volume set and I am thinking about checking about the rest of the series.
