The continuation of Megan and Antonio's story was an enjoyable read for me. I have liked both stories in this series which features a young adult hero who just happens to be the son of a mob boss. The storyline is very interesting and I like how intensely Antonio feels for Megan. I am happy to say the editing was better for this book because the first book is riddled with editing and grammar mistakes but I liked the story enough to overlook them.

Just a warning, there is a lot of violence related to mob business in both books. The lead couple finally makes love in this book but it happens off screen which was disappointing to me, if I can read about someone getting his leg broken I should be able to see the leads get their freak on :)

I am looking forward to the third book!

The second book of the Mobster series picks up right where the first left off. I love Megan and Antonio! Their story is fun and romantic. I also loved getting to know Vito. He's a fun character and adds some laughs to the story.

This is a great series. The author does a great job of getting into mobster mode and making the thoughts, actions, and even the vocabulary seem real. There were many twists and turns in the story to keep me captivated. I just wish the books were longer! I am very much looking forward to see where this series goes.

~~~ 4 stars~~~
description
The story continues from where it was left off and it's quite entertaining - YA mixed with Mafia business. The last 40% of the book really swings into high gear and I loved it.
Antonio:"I'm ready to kill. I've been primed for this my whole life. It's kill or be killed."
My baby alpha is growing up, I'm so proud. ("wink")
Going with 4 stars on this one and that rating is solely for Chapters 11 - 18. The first 10 chapters deal with situations that (I guess) needed to be handled, but which I had no interest in. Antonio and Megan are still great together but all the characters were trying my patience for the first 10 chapters. You had Antonio being the uber alpha male where Megan was concerned, Megan not knowing whether to be turned on or annoyed, Erin dealing with PTSD and alternating between being catatonic and having nightmares (I REALLY had no patience for that even though it's understandable since Erin is younger) and Vito acting like a jerk to anyone who even looked at Erin. I do love Vito but I was ready to kick them all off a cliff. Really, I had resigned myself to chalking this one up to a loss and then Chapter 11 happened.
Chapter 11 is what we've been waiting for all along. We're back to the ACTION and Antonio being the badass leader that he is. Don't think. Just do. Even my girl Megan steps up to the plate and proves she's a true ride or die chick. Through the nonstop twists and turns, Megan and Antonio's bond is strengthened and new alliances are formed (I like that Antonio and Megan's best friend Troy now have a healthy respect for each other). Patrick (Megan's father) makes an appearance, not a moment too soon, and Mr. I-so-wanna-have-his-babies Vito proves time and time again that he has Antonio's back no matter what.
In the final scene, it is clear that Antonio's 'team' is falling into place. With new directives from his father, he has now turned the corner from enforcer to 'boss' and man, I cannot WAIT to see how things play out.
Eagerly awaiting Book 3 Mobster's Vendetta. I want Troy to be part of the team too. Like an outside consultant lol.
I LOVED THIS BOOK! Antonio, I love you! I really wish you existed in real life. I love it how he's so over possessive, protective of Megan and I love how he's still jealous of Megan's best friend Troy in this book. Whenever Troy got close to Megan, Antonio actually physically ripped him away from her. Gotta love a dominant hero ;)
Megan was not an annoying heroine. She had her shit together unlike her sister Erin although I can't blame her. I loved how Amy got a story line (somewhat) of Erin and Vito. I LOVED IT !! I COMPLETELY FELL FOR BOTH OF THEM!
I just loved this book! I loved the story line and everything!
The only problem I had with it and the reason why I couldnt give it 5 stars like Mobster's Girl is because, IT WAS SOOO SHORT. Amy, I want more! It was dam dam short. Great story, but short. I think it would have been better if it was longer!
Despite this, great stry! Can't wait for the next book! I wanna hear more about Vito and Erin cause their story ended rather abruptly and I DESPERATELY wanna know what happens to the both of them as well as the betrayal to Antonio's mafia family.
(Amy, THAT BOOK BETTER BE 300 PAGES :D )
Loved the book!
Fabulous second in series.
This picks up where the previous book 'Mobster's Girl' finished Patrick O'Neill, Megan and Erin's father has asked Antonio to take them away and keep them safe, Vito comes along as well and they all set off for Notre Dame.
This is a short book at only 112 pages but again I really enjoyed it, I read it in one sitting and was up until the early hours finishing it.
I loved the characters and how much Antonio loves Megan, how much she loves him and I adore Vito.
The story kept me hooked from the first page to the last but it really kicked into gear around chapter 11 so you've been warned once you get there you won't be able to put it down.
So why not 5 stars?
Erin. I understood why she's suffering like she is but I felt at times it was too much and overshadowed Antonio and Megan.
Can't wait to start the next book 'Mobster's Vendetta'
Awakening the Mobster is a continuation from book one titled Mobster’s Girl and is a YA Romance written by Amy Rachiele. I read this as a R2R with We ♥ YA Books! As always, a special thank you to the mods and author for allowing me to participate.
Sweet, Fun and Exciting! A Great Afternoon Read!
The Review:
I like this series. It just keeps getting better! Book one left off with a cliffy and I really wanted to see how the next book would go. I wasn’t disappointed. The second book was a great read and I really enjoyed it but I had the same problem with this book I had with book one. I’ll start with the good points first.
Awakening the Mobster picks up right where book one, Mobster’s Girl leaves off. It’s a short read, coming in at about 120 pages. Antonio, Megan, Erin and Vito are on the run from the bad guys. Antonio and Vito are in charge of keeping Megan and Erin safe and between shoot outs, explosions, injuries, jealousy, betrayal, developing romance, new love interests and trying to enjoy the college experience; the guys have their hands full.
I really like Megan and Antonio. I fell in love with them in book one and was in the corner cheering them on. Their developing love is fascinating to read. It’s intense and sweet and so much fun. Antonio doesn’t put up with any crap on a normal day and he certainly doesn’t put up with his girl, Megan, getting crap thrown at her. His protectiveness towards her, her sister and Vito is a beautiful thing.
In this story we also get a little side romance as it appears Vito has an interest in Erin. She’s a bit young and was having a really hard time adjusting to the event in this book and though I hate how weak she was, I really enjoyed watching Vito fall for her.
Now, my complaint…
As much as I liked this book, I have the same complaint I had in book one. The writing is like watching a movie in fast forward. Characters come in, they say their bit, they exit quickly. There’s no detail, no description and I had a hard time connecting with the scenes. I wish the author would take the time and describe the setting, the emotions and the characters in more descriptive detail.
The Wrap Up:
Awakening the Mobster was a great read. It did start out a bit slow but it was necessary to build up to where it needed to be. Once all that was out of the way, it was -Action.Packed-! Wow! I was really impressed with the author’s ability to pull me in and keep me reading through the afternoon. This book, like book one, left off with a cliffy and I can’t wait to read book three, Mobster’s Vendetta. I’m so excited!! ;)
Ahh!! I loved it!! I read this book in about 3 hours or so this afternoon. I got the first book in the series, Mobster's Girl, for free and it left me dying to know what happens next. I bought this book on smashwords this afternoon and read it all in one sitting.
The story totally sucks you in. I love the romance aspect as well as the action aspect. I really enjoyed getting to know Vito in this book. He's such a cool character. I kept wondering: does he have a thing for Erin? He was so protective of her. Troy really got on my nerves in this book. He was such a sarcastic dick, but I guess it stems from the whole jealousy thing. He did get better towards the end.
Now I'm just dying to know what is going to happen to Megan and Tonio. This book leaves you with such a cliff hanger...it's unbearable. I hope Amy Rachiele is furiously writing the third book as I type this. I just have to know what happens next!
Here's to hoping I don't have to wait too long! :)
I really enjoy Amy Rachiele's writing style. I'm so expert on writing or the terms you're supposed to use. But I know what I like and I really like reading Amy Rachiele's writing. There's just something in her descriptions and dialogue that make it all flow so easily.
I kept hoping something would come of Vito and Erin..perhaps in book 3?Each character left a great impression..sometimes authors have a hard time introducing characters but not Amy.She is able to do it and it's as if the characters have been there the whole time,but they do not overpower the main characters.Oh and the shower scene was molto caldo.Without giving spoilers away..You know what?Im not giving spoilers away.Read the book.Its so worth it.Im waiting on pins and needles for book 3.I cant help but hope to see a wedding in Antonio and Megan's future.Thank you Amy for writing an amazingly great series and characters that I have fallen in love with.
Well what can I say about this book except I LOVED IT!!!! Once I had finished the first book I just downloaded this straight away I enjoyed the first book that much that I just needed to know what happened in the next one!!
Another great read that again I could not put down I found myself reading it on the bus on my way to work and on my way home lol.
This story continues well with the story of Antonio and Megan, I enjoyed this one as it showed you more about the mobster side of the characters but it also showed you the deep love between the two main characters.
I must say tho that this book has got me intrigued and I now want to know more about Vito!!!!
I am now eagerly awaiting the next book.
This book deserves the 5 star rating I have given it and I would recommend it to anyone!!!
Although I really loved Mobsters Girl (book 1 in the series) much more I really felt like Awakening the Mobster was really good in the sense that it was a nice thread for the story line. I enjoyed that I got to see Antonio's softer side but, what i really enjoyed was the glimpses of the toughness megan has inside her and I have a strong feeling this plays a major role in the series! I have to say that although I love antonio I also found myself loving Vito and his protectiveness of Erin ( do I detect a romance?! hmm...). I love the suspense and the backstabbing in the story since, although you expect it, you never know who it will be. Great book! I'm definitely ready to continue the story Now I just gotta wait for book 3.... :)
Dang it Amy why do these have to be so short? Your killing me.
Once again I am totally in awe at how much I love this story. I know that sounds horrible. To be perfectly honest I have never been one to root for a mobster but this book has me fist pumping for Antonio and Vito.
Antonio and Megan are electric together. Megan is the peace to Antonio's inner mobster and Antonio is Megan's savior. I am dying to see what happens to them in the next book. I hope their love can survive.
I am also dying to see what happens with Vito. I didn't notice him too much in the Mobster's Girl but I have much respect for him in this one.
Awesome Job Amy you have me hooked.
Oh my God! All I can say is, I can't wait for book three. I thoroughly enjoyed book two. The romance and love between what we would think of as two " innocent " kids is real. But the life they have lived and what the future will bring is nothing innocent. Megan sheltered from the "life" making her a victim, and Tonio the Mobster's son, runs full circle. What should not be for Megan is a natural fight or flight reaction, even subconsciously she is one of them! Weird when you have lived a life like this or somehow connected, you feel their pain! I know! Can't wait for the next one. Please don't stop at book three. This should be an ongoing series!! Thank you!!!!!
REALLY liked this one too and just as good as Mobster's Girl (bks 1). The only reason I left off the 1/2 star this time is I wish it had been a longer bk. Looking forward to bk 3. Not sure how many the author plans for this series. Possibly by the time this is all through, one l-o-n-g bk would have been a good idea. Would like to keep the momentum going without stopping and starting every few months. Yes, a cliffhanger ending here but not a nail biter. At least Antonio/Meagan are together...now it's just the plot that's hanging.
This was a good short story. The mob background was fun and the characters were interesting. I liked the definitions at the start of each chapter. The story had a well developed plot, even though it was only a piece of a larger narrative. I'm interested to see where Antonio and Megan go from here ...
Disclosure: I received this book for free from Goodreads, however this had no impact on my review. I rated the story for the quality with which it was written.
Even though the main characters are Megan and Antonio and I love them to pieces, I'm kind of starting to have a thing for Vito. I mean I picture this great big Italian guy, but when it comes to Erin, he seems like such a teddy bear. All in all, enjoyed the book, the writing I think has improved since the last installment, and I'm kind of sad that it's over already!
I received this book from the author for an honest review. Thanks!
I read Mobster's Girl a few months ago and was excited for the chance to read the next book in the series. Awakening the Mobster starts off right where Mobster's Girl ended, with Megan, Antonio, Vito, and Erin going away to hide at Notre Dame. But going away does not mean they are away from danger. Antonio's father, the mob boss, has him on a job to collect money from a runaway in Chicago. But all isn't as it seems, and they can't trust anyone, even family and friends may be betrayers. They are stuck in a dangerous and deadly battle of mob against mob, family against family. And not all will make it through unscathed.
This book involves the mob, so there is a lot of action and killing going on. Even though Antonio is training to be the mob boss someday, so you know what he does and is capable of, I couldn't help loving him. I think it is because of the love he has for Megan. And Megan is a strong female character that doesn't fall apart while at the same time is trying to keep her sister Erin together since everything going on is affecting her mental state. Vito is sexiness all in himself. He is big and tough, and caring, and will do anything to protect the girls. I think that is what I love, how uber protective Antonio and Vito are with family and those they love and have sworn to protect.
This story obviously involves the mob, and some heavy violence, and there are a few bedroom scenes, but Amy Rachiele keeps it from getting too detailed. So I would recommend this to 17 and older. I can't wait for the next book!
This was another short but enjoyable read. More like 3.75 stars.
Brief Summary:
Vito, Tonio, Erin, and Megan are on the run from whoever has betrayed Antonio's crime family. They are hiding out near Notre Dame, and we again meet Troy, Megan's old family friend. Megan and Tonio's relationship heats up, and there appears to be a romance brewing between Vito and Erin. Although it's pretty obvious from the start, by the end of the book we know who has betrayed Antonio and a little about why. Full out mob war in book 3?
Things I liked:
-Megan in survivor mode. She's starting to realize how tough she really is.
-Antonio also in survivor mode. Seriously, he should just give up his mob work and go into the secret service.
-The romance...however, it would be nice to see more of the not just physical part of their interaction.
Things I didn't love:
-Needy Erin. I reminded myself, though, that she's only a 14 year old character.
-I wanted to see Megan and Antonio grappling more with the moral ambiguity that is their lives. Shouldn't Megan be more concerned about how far from normal her life has drifted? Shouldn't Antonio be more conflicted/disturbed by all horrible things he witnesses/is a part of?
I need more meat with my potatoes, please. Even with that said, I am sooo going to read book 3!
4 1/2 stars this is book two in the Mobster series which picks right up were book one left off. Meghan, Antonio, Vitto and Erin are on the after finding out Meghan and Erin's dad is the "cleaner" for Antonio's dad. So to hide out they all go to Notre Dame to visit Troy, there they learn that not everyone is who they claim to be and that some who claim to be loyal are working against them. A wonderful part of this book is that we get to see Antonio and Meghan's relationship grow and develop in this book. I loved Antonio he is the perfect hero he is ruthless in his protection of Meghan he will do anything to keep her safe and happy and won't let any man get in his way. And the care he shows for not only Meghan but her sister Erin was heart warming. But I have to say I fell in love with Vitto in this book he was captivating in this book, the hint at his love interest was perfect and I can only hope that Amy Rachiele either gives him his own story, or really continues giving him his voice in this series. I can not wait for book three Mobster's Vendetta to come out this is a fantastic story that I will follow till the end. All I can say is Bravo Amy Rachiele!
I love this Mobster’s series. Each and every book is action packed, and thrilling from start to finish. More of the story continues to unravel in this second book just mounting the obstacles and dangers ahead of this young group. As Antonio and Vito struggle to keep Erin and Megan safe; the bonds between these four character will grow and transform into something much deeper. The addition of Vito and Erin was an added bonus to the romantic suspense of the story. Still a mystery readers will be eager to see what will come for these two characters. The motto no one is safe when it comes to the mob, and this is proven time and time again in this series.Greed and Power is a dangerous combination in this world, and their always seems to be an abundance of power hungry vultures just around the corner. Just like the first book I was very happy with the nicely formed conclusion, but I am anxiously awaiting the continuation. Amy Rachiele stories offer a powerful and addictive story that is more than just a budding romance; the violence and mayhem pulls me through the stories will lighting speed.
The story takes its course where the reader left Megan, Antonio, Vitto and Erin in the previous book. On the run...No time to look back or to dwell on the past. The heroes are already facing new dangers that await them. Explosion, bloody fights, jalousy, nasty betrayal and passion.
If the scenery changes as the action moves from the campus of the University of Notre Dame into some streets of Chicago, the protagonists themselves remain the same. A greater part is given to the duo Erin-Vitto. I admit I liked the humor and the playboy side of Vitto from the first part of this series but I have trully fallen under his spell in this second volume...
Also a great success in the action full of dynamism. Without dead time, the reader will not get bored.
As the story is short, it adds a sense of speed, chain reactions intended by Fatality or Destiny.
Less violence while maintaining a great bloodshed and fighting to keep the reader glue to his reading in suspense. In this story, I was again taken into the world of the mafia avoiding the usual clichés and I loved it.
I can not wait to read more in the third volume "Mobster's Vendetta" ...
The author provided me with a copy of this book for my honest review
The second book in the Mobsters series takes up right where the first one left off, Megan, Antonio, Vito and Erin are hiding out trying to stay safe. Antonio and Vito are trying to find out who in the organization betrayed them and is trying to kill them. New secrets and enemies emerge as Megan and Tonio get closer, Erin is still having problems dealing with what happened in the first book. This book is not as fast paced as the first one, it's more focused on dealing with the fall out of the problems from the first one. I don't want to say to much and spoil the book, so I will just say this was a good book. It was entertaining, emotional and a nice quick read. It's not a light read, it still has violence and there is some mystery. There is a cliffhanger so if you read it make sure you have the third book ready.
I've completely fallen in love with Antonio and Megan. And yes, now I'm hoping for something to happen between Vito and Erin. I think he'd be good for her. It looks like that's where the author is headed for those two.
Where the first book ended is exactly where the second book picks up, and even though they go to South Bend, it doesn't stop the Mafia action. I guess once you're in, you're in for life, but its not like they're trying to get away from the lifestyle.
Antonio is still doing things for his dad behind Megan's back, and when she finds out, she's accepting. I still want to know why Megan's mom is the way she is, and I'm hoping that comes out in the third book.
Overall, the book was another quick, enjoyable read.
I love this series so much. It has everything that I look for in a teen romance novel. The story is well written and keeps you entertained. What I like most about this series is that it has grit. I love that you don't know if the characters are going to come out of a situation all scratch free (if you know what I mean). It adds substance to the story. Overall this is one of my favorite series and I can't wait to read the 3rd novel. ^_^
Another great story from Amy Rachiele. The story of Megan and Tonio continue from Mobster's Girl and their relationship strengthens and continues. They find themselves on the run with Erin and Vito. Not knowing who to trust or to turn to this story takes them on a dangerous rollercoaster.
I am happy that there will be a book three - Mobsters Vendetta. Again, i wish the books were longer, i love reading them and Amy's writing style : )
Contains violent scenes.
