Rate this book
New Beautifully Illustrated Edition of a Well Loved Classic Tale of God's Love

God Loves You. Chester Blue was originally written as a children's chapter book. However, since its launch it has become an inspirational story for all ages.

What if when you most needed help, a blue bear appeared with a note from God One night, Miss Millie of Blossom, Ohio turns her face to the stars and asks God for help. The next day, a package arrives on her doorstep containing a blue teddy bear and a very special note. God will meet us where we are... Over the course of a year, this remarkable blue bear travels across the country, showing up just when he's needed most. During his journey, Chester Blue helps a young girl trying to impress her big sisters; helps a man who has lost his job; saves a sailor caught in a terrible storm; reunites two constantly fighting brothers suffering from a terrible case of sibling rivalry; watches a cowboy become a rodeo clown; and helps a father and daughter after divorce.

Each chapter is short story demonstrating God's love for us in every situation. God is everywhere. His love can find us anywhere. Whether you are a child or an adult, God has a very important message for you, too... God Loves You. Chester Blue is an inspirational book for kids, adults, parents, families, in other words, everyone.

A friend won this in a Goodreads giveaway and thought I might like to read it because I have collected stuffed bears all my life. I love the woman so I am going to forgive her for giving me this silly, sappy piece of trash. I had hoped that the bear would redeem the book somehow and it is such a short book and certainly no intellectual challenge so I zipped through it.

This is just perfect for gullible Christians. Made for them, in fact. There is a lady with a teddy bear store that is not doing well so she feels depressed about it. If she had a lick of sense she would have diversified instead of praying but hey, you know Christians, don't think or do something practical when you can just talk it over with your Imaginary friend. Chester Blue the bear shows up with a message for her- God loves you. Apparently the same invisible Grand Poohbah who sits and silently watches kids suffer from cancer, child rapists, and sex traffickers without intervening has learned to solve everyone's problems by stitching up a cute l'il blue teddy.

The teddy goes from story to story and the problems are stupid at best. Nothing people could not solve for themselves. Also Chester Blue ends up in one place at the end of one adventure only to turn up somehow in a totally different place at the beginning of the next with no explanation of why and how. Let me warn you- unless you are a gullible idiot, this thing is going to annoy the hell out of you.

Please don't dumb any kids down by handing this to them. If you really want for them to get a megadose of sap, just pour a bottle of maple syrup over their heads. Don't make kids think that if they just ask an imaginary god for help that help is coming. This will keep them from protecting themselves and helping others and leave them vulnerable to danger.

Here's what I have told my own- "There are no gods and goddesses. There is a beautiful earth filled with plant life and animal life. We are here for a number of years and then we die and return to nourish the earth. This is not a bad thing. It is sad but not horrible. Don't pray- take action instead and make things happen. Mom loves you. I (Mom) am real, flesh and blood, and until the day I die, I will help, love, comfort and support you and you can call- not pray- to me for help and I will help. I will also help you learn to do things so you can help yourself and others. When you want comfort, don't turn to imaginary gods- turn to yourself, turn to me, turn to your dad, turn to our fur-babies. Be real." False hope is cruel.

I am sorry I can't recommend this as a bear lover but I just can't. If you need a bear fix, A.A. Milne has you covered with Winnie the Pooh and friends and of course there is our good friend Paddington Bear.

I was fortunate enough to win this as a first-reads giveaway, but I would have gladly bought this book. It was one of the most up lifting and inspiring books that I have read in a long time. Suzanne Anderson is able to remind the readers that no matter what our circumstances are we are loved. She does this with a wonderfully told story.

Chester Blue is a very special stuffed bear. He is a source of understanding, courage, and a family bonding agent. But most importantly a messenger from God. Although he lives with one family, Chester Blue travels cross country touching and changing the lives of those he comes in contact with.

God Loves YOU. - Chester Blue is not only a wonderful book to read for yourself, but to read with the children in your life. I told my girls about it as I read it and now we are starting to read it as a family before bed. I know that the story will touch and inspire them also.

This is a very sweet story, perfect as a bedtime tale for younger children. Not very realistic in some places, but overall it's a great reminder of God's love for us.

I recieved this book as a giveaway and was very excited to read it. I actually saved it for when my husband was deployed so that I would get that friendly reminder that this book teaches. It is a great thing to remember and helped me to look at the things happening around me differently. Really this was a great short read book, the only reason why it is getting a low rating from me is because there were times in the book where we lost some of the journey in how Chester Blue ended up from one destination to another, how he went from the opera with the boys to in a cable car, then being returned to the boys to somehow end up in a barn. There was no explination or story to go with how he got there or even a referal to how he might have ended up there. I know that it was supposed to be an act of God how he showed up when he was needed, but the book began by telling us how he ended up from one adventure to the next, so when it stopped doing this it lost something in the story for me. The book also seemed to change from talking about Chester Blue as he is the bear to Chester Blue making his own observations of his own. Even through these things that took away from the story of the book for me I really did enjoy the message that it continues to bring to the characters and the readers.

God Loves You. -Chester Blue is a sweet story. I loved the message of the book. It reminded me of this quote from Spencer W. Kimball - “God does notice us, and he watches over us. But it is usually through another person that he meets our needs". Chester Blue with his little suitcase travels from person to person working his magic to help those in need. A good reminder that one person can make a big difference to a lot of people.

There were some continuity and editing issues. I loved the first half of the story but then something got lost as the book continued and it felt a little choppy. Chester Blue would just appear and help people but we were never told how he got from one person to the next.

If you are one who reads with a critical eye then this probably isn't for you. If you want a sweet heartwarming story with a reminder that God is out there watching over you and loves you then pick up a copy of this book.

A big thank you to Suzanne for sending me this book at a time in my life when I could use the reminder and message found within its pages.

I won this book through the first-reads program.

God Loves You. - Chester Blue is the sweetest of sweet books. It is saccharine and innocence, optimism and oh golly gee swell. It's a book that warmed my sometimes cynical heart, made me tear up and smile. It's the warmth on a cold day, and the reassurance you need when you've been down and sad. Really, this book was just what I needed tonight.

The book begins with a blue bear named Chester showing up on the doorstep of a woman who sure needs it. He has a note with him, which is what gives the book its title. From there, the bear travels, popping up just when a person needs him. While the plot is simple, and the language easy, this is a recipe sweet enough for people of any age to read. It reminds me of the books I grew up on, that I was so incredibly proud I could read by myself.

If I ever have the chance, this is certainly a book I'll share with younger kids, my own peers, and the older crowd.

Heck, we all need a Chester Blue.

I won this book in a Goodreads First Read Giveaway.

This is a sweet inspirational little book that reminds us how a simple word or message can make a big difference in someone's life. Chester Blue is a blue teddy bear that shows up in people's lives just when they need help. He carries the message 'God loves you' in his little suitcase. His visits inspire people to try something new, restore their lost faith or even bring two people closer together.

Blue is my favorite color and I love God so I purchased and began reading this ebook with a certain level of expectation. We’ve heard of angels, we heard of prophets, priests, and Kings who have all in some way been representatives, symbols, or messengers from God. So why not a cuddly blue bear called Chester with a suitcase of goodies?

The author is clear not to have the characters worship Chester because his role is a messenger, however, in his presence they are reminded of God’s love, and the answers though unexpected are found. He does this again and again as he travels cross country helping to solve problems and showing God’s love to everyone he comes into contact with…bringing about inevitable change.

This is so much more than a charming book about a mysterious bear that seems to show up in the right place at just the right time. It is God’s reminder to every one of us that He loves us and cares for us. Even when we forget about Him and turn our backs on Him. He wants us to know that we can just remember His love amid our struggles: emotional, mental, physical, financial, etc. His promises will hold and save us some unnecessary heartache.

My Recommendation:

God Loves You. ~Chester Blue is not only a wonderful book to read for yourself, but an awesome book to use to introduce children to God.

I thought this was a sweet story about how a cute bear, a little bit of thread and a simple note helped people through a tough moment. I think it would make a great bedtime story to read to your kids as it has short enough chapeters that one a night wouldn't be to long and it has a positive message to leave with your kids as they drift off to sleep.

It is a very religious based book, the note reads God Loves You- Chester Blue, so if you are anti-religion, agnostic, or atheist then it may not be the book for you. But I think regardless of how you feel about religion you could get something from the story.

The book did have a weird shift toward the end that I noticed and felt a little weird about. For the first half of the book you get a bit of how the owners misplaced him so the new people found him and Chester was an inanimate object but had no viewpoint. Then at the end, he just showed up somewhere with no explanation and suddenly we see things from his point of view which was odd since he didn't have one up to that point.

Overall, a sweet story great for the target audience.

Absolutely fantastic book,an easy read with such a needed message. Sometimes a book falls into your hands at the most critical time, this was it for me. Feeling a bit lost and unsure of myself,Chester Blue gave me the message I needed when I needed it the most. The story is heart warming for any age or gender. .

This book provides a powerful message that we need one another and that you are loved. Sometimes books fall into your lap for a reason. That was the case with Chester Blue. I was feeling lost and this book helped me to remember that I am never alone. What a great heart warming story!

Inspirational and lessons of God's love

This is the second time I have read this children's book, and I enjoyed reading it as much as the first time. This is a book for all ages to read; not only for the beautiful lessons but for inspiration about God's love towards all His children. I'm sure this won't be the last time for me to enjoy reading this wonderful book. I would recommend this book to all ages...

Such A Sweet Book!

I ran across this short book by accident as I was looking through my list of books on my Kindle. I did not remember it so I clicked and found this sweet, enchanting story about a Teddy Bear who was carried by many different people from place to place and helped solve many problems with the spool of blue sewing thread and sewing needle he carried for sewing emergencies. It was a sweet diversion on a Tuesday afternoon. I hope you enjoy it also.
