Paging Dr. Hot

Rate this book
A love prescription so potent only the hottest doctor can fill it. Miami TV reporter Francesca Lake is on a manhunt…or rather, a doctor hunt. Frankie wasn’t always a hypochondriac. Her motto used to be “Fear is not an option”, but everything changed with her mom’s near-fatal heart attack. Now a day doesn’t go by where she isn’t worried about something . After a harrowing incident in the hospital ER, she has a life-altering epiphany. She needs to find a marriage-minded doctor ASAP—one who will calm her fears so she can get on with her life. So begins a series of amorous escapades and startling revelations as she works her way through the list of an outrageous Aussie sex therapist, a brilliant neurosurgeon (who’s wired the wrong way), and a handsome Cuban cardiologist. None of them compares to hunky Dr. Harrison Taylor…but there’s a problem. Much as Harrison’s rugged physique, forest-green eyes and warm smile make her senses wobbly, she needs a people doctor, not the vet for her miniature dachshund Romeo. Besides, Harrison’s propensity for crazy stunts would only make her worry more. Frankie is trying to be sensible, but her heart and her outspoken dog are conspiring against her… Contains juicy secrets and romantic misadventures between a loveable hypochondriac and three hot doctors. Side effects may include intense yearnings for a strong doctor, an adorable miniature dachshund, and an impromptu trip to sultry Miami.

Closer to 2-1/2 stars, but not enough to round up. I was bored. I'm sorry. Bored and annoyed with the heroine. It just seemed like such a shallow goal to marry a doctor, and then, when a doctor (albeit not the human kind) was interested in her, she kept pushing him away. Even though their chemistry was crazy good. And then, when she finally got her head on straight about the vet, she's depressed when she thinks he's moved on. Well, if he had, she'd have totally deserved it! I was just aggravated.

The Hypochondriac & The Veterinarian

Interesting story, maybe a bit week but quite funny. Certainly not the worst book I've ever read.
Frankie has not been herself since her mother had a major health scare. Now Frankie worries constantly about her own health. She had become a hypochondriac and now decided that if she marries a doctor, he will take care of her, always know what is wrong with her, if anything, and she will be ok. Thus begins her hunt for just the right doctor to marry.
Harrison, Frankie's neighbor, is a doctor but the wrong kind. He is a veterinarian and Frankie needs a people doctor, of course. If only Harrison were a people doctor, because he is hot, sexy and the attraction is most definitely there.
Poor Frankie is not having any luck with her search till a coworker goes on maternity leave and Frankie, a TV journalist, takes over medical reporting. Here is her chance to meet DOCTORS!!! Let the hilarity ensue.

Francesca makes up her mind

I really love Sophie’s romantic, classy style of writing. She has a way of describing the characters and storyline like your watching a classic movie.
Francesca has a dilemma, she has set her mind to find a Doctor to fall in love with. Little does she know her cute dog Romeo knows who his vote is for. It happens to be his Veterinarian Harrison.
He happens to be her neighbor and cousin of her best friend Chloe. When they run into each other something sparks between them. I loved their chemistry.
I loved the corky male characters they made me laugh at their crazy antics. Sometimes you just want to read a romantic story without all the crude words. I highly recommend this book.

This book is okay but i think for me was very slow and a bit boring and didn't have much happening.
It was at times a bit funny because of Francesca's attitude and her over exaggerating on, lets say her sneezing and thinking shes having a heart attack! :)))
Also i loved the mention of loads of different types of foods! (what can i say im a foodie! ;)) (you can look in the highlights for them :))

Not my cup of tea

I usually love romantic comedies but just couldn't get into this one. I never quit a book but had to force myself to keep going until it got a bit more interesting in the last 40%. I found Frankie to be annoying and shallow throughout the entire story and couldn't stand the way she babied Romeo. Just simply not a book for me.

A fun, humorous, romance novel. It is about a girl who is looking for love. She goes on a couple dates and ends up being happy with her dog's vet, Harrison. They are also neighbours and have friends in common. A fun read.

no. just no.

I’m so sick of the authours that use profanity as an exclamation, honestly is their vocabulary that limited? After the first time I decided I didn’t want to read the rest of this book. It can’t be that good if that’s all the authour comes up with!

Romeo is a hoot!

This book has an interesting story, especially the parts told by Romeo. Enough spice to keep it tasty but not tawdry. Enjoy.

Read on Radish. Harrison might be Chloe’s cousin, but he is the doctor Romeo and Frankie need in their lives.

I’m not sure where to begin this review of Sophia Knightly’s latest romance, Paging Dr. Hot, because the main character’s dog, Romeo, kind of stole the show so to speak. However, I think that’s what the author had in mind because Romeo has his own Facebook page where he’s been posting for a couple of months now.

Francesca (Frankie) Lake and her adorable dog, Romeo, have relocated to Miami after Frankie’s Mom suffers a near fatal heart attack. For the most part, Frankie loves Miami. She’s closer to her parents, she lives in a nice building, she has a super friend and dog sitter living two doors down, and she’s got a great job as a television reporter. Thing is following her mother’s heart attack Frankie has turned in to a stark raving hypochondriac! The girl who use to fear nothing now fears almost everything. Following an emergency room visit, Frankie decides she needs to meet and marry a doctor who will love her and calm all her fears.

Dr. Harrison Taylor (yes, doctor) is Frankie’s neighbor and Romeo’s vet. He’s the “wrong type” of doctor in Frankie’s mind despite their undeniable attraction to each other. Harrison is an adrenaline junkie, a more than capable doctor, and an all around nice guy. His cousin (and Frankie’s best friend from New York) has been playing matchmaker and while Harrison is on board, he has his work cut out for him with Frankie.

Romeo is an adorable long hair dachshund with big brown eyes and an understanding of human nature like no other. He’s also got an amazing vocabulary and is missing his New York lady friend.

I’ll admit I read this book twice before I sat down to write this review. This book is written in first person from Frankie and Romeo’s points of view. I very much enjoyed this story, it’s just that sometimes when books are written this way I don’t feel like I “see” all the characters as clearly as I should. Frankie isn’t the most lovable of heroines. I didn’t hate her, but she was just a little to obsessed and over the top at times for me. Because of the situation with her Mom, the fact that she’s relocated and in a new job I was able to make allowances for a lot of her behavior however, I still found myself getting somewhat annoyed with her at times. Harrison on the other hand…. I wanted to jump on him from the first time he made an appearance and not let him go. Wow! Competent, hot, caring, and so damn patient…the total package! Frankie’s neighbor Fizzy, is mysterious, interesting and likeable. So likeable, I really want to know more about her and her mystery man (I’m hoping she’ll have her own story soon). Let’s not forget about Romeo who gives Oscar worthy performances as well as manages to keep all the people in his life in line. He’s one amazing pup!

Frankie’s search for a doctor husband leads her to all sorts of men and puts her in all kinds of funny and interesting situations. The characters really come alive during these scenes including the parade of doctors wooing Frankie. The story is fun and I found myself often amused especially with Romeo’s take on things. I like that even though Harrison seems to always be around Frankie when she isn’t at her best; he hangs in there despite everything. Frankie’s friends can’t convince her that she’s being paranoid and not living life to its fullest. Heck, even Romeo can tell she’s making some critical errors in her love life. I found it amusing that Frankie’s Mom, with her new lease on life following her heart attack, is the one who finally makes Frankie see that she has to go for it to get what she wants.

Paging Dr. Hot is an entertaining and enjoyable book filled with unusual but engaging characters and one super cool dog. This book reminds me no matter how many romance novels I read in a month authors continue to impress me with their fresh ideas and for that I am grateful!

Woof, woof, woof! Oh, sorry, I was speaking in dog terms. Why? Well, not only is there a comical and fun story in Paging Dr. Hot, there's a cute dog named Romeo that plays a very important role in the story. Can't understand dog speak? I apologize again. Perhaps I should just tell you what I know.....

Francesca Lake has a little bit of a problem. She's become overwhelmed with constant worry. She freaks out at the smallest things, and can't help herself. What's a girl to do? This one decides it's time to find a man, stat! Oh, not just any man, but a doctor. Can you smell the trouble brewing? Francesca is putting herself on the market, or at least, looking for a doctor on the market. Francesca is quite humorous. She's not perfect, by far, but she's easily to relate to. Haven't you ever had an incident or a life changing event that puts you a little over the edge, maybe makes you crazy for a little while? I know I have. It's pretty easy to do, that's for sure.

Some of the prospects include Harrison, a neighbor, but he's not a people doctor. He's a vet. But I was rooting for him to win Francesca's heart. He's always around and helping her out, handling her quirks very well. He doesn't want to just get into her pants, he's actually a good friend. Come on, Harrison, go for the win!

The book is written in two points of view. It's first person, so readers get a lot of insight on Francesca. But get this, there are snippets of information from another point of view: Romeo. No, not the Shakespeare character, I promise. There is no rising from the dead in this book. It's straight up contemporary. And no, Romeo isn't one of the names of hunky or strange doctors Francesca has set in her radars, either. Am I keeping the suspense up for you? Romeo is Francesca's beloved dog. Are you intrigued yet?

Paging Dr. Hot is a definite feel good read. It's light, charming, witty and all around a great story! I had a blast with it. This is the kind of story that you can pull of the shelf again and again to surround yourself with fun. If this story is any indication of Ms. Knightly's writing, I'm hooked. I need more.

If you're a fan of great contemporary romantic comedies, I recommend Paging Dr. Hot. Warning, prepare for some great laughs!

Sophia Knightly writes not only passionate and sensual romance but romance with a fun, flirty and witty touch.

In Paging Dr. Hot she has once again surpassed my expectations and taken sensual to a new level. Frankie has hit the road of no return, she needs to find a Dr that will calm her fears about anything and everything that can go wrong.

So she sets out to find herself a Dr. to love her, keep her calm and rooted. She ends up meeting more than she bargained for. An outrageous Aussie sex therapist, a brilliant neurosurgeon and a handsome Cuban cardiologist.

So yes she has her pick but none of them come close to sexy as sin, make my knees weak, your so good with my little dog Romeo Dr. Harrison Tyler.

The man not only has a way with animals but it seems he can bring Frankie to a stand still, scrambling her braincells with only so much as a smile, and this of course is not what she wants, people Dr. not animal Dr.

The book was truly a delight to read, the characters were both memorable and fun to read about. Not to mention the oh so adorable Romeo, I mean who can resist dogs!

The backdrop setting of sensual and romantic Miami was perfect as it gave the book that almost forbidden sex come holiday fling romance feel.

The author incorporated scandal, blazing hot passion, enough emotional upsets to keep me hooked, and all the sexy Dr's how could I resist, I fell in love with the entire book, hook, line and sinker!

I loved how the author speaks to her reader, not only telling us what her characters are going through but letting me as reader know the best is yet to come.

The dialogue is one that kept me entertained, fun, witty and sensual all wrapped into one delicious read. I recommend this one for anyone who loves a good romance oh and of course for those of us that just cannot resit a Dr. that will be more than glad to check our heart rate!

This author always writes such entertaining romance books. She always has a few little surprises to make her books stand-out.
I liked the main character, Frankie, and her friends.
Every single lady needs a neighbor like, Harrison, aka Dr. HOT!
I am not sure, I bought into the reason why Frankie was so set having a medical doctor for her husband, but the story was so fun, I let that fact go by. Plus, you got 2 love stories for one in this book, as we can not forget, Romeo and his sweetie, Coquette.
I sure hope Sophia Knightly plans a follow-up to this book, as I need to know the following:
- Will there be fling between Frankie's pal, Chloe and the Hunky, Aussie Sex Therapist, Devon?
- Who exactly is up with Santiago? And is Frizzy safe with him?
-Will there be puppies for Romeo and Coquette? And how will Scout feel about this?
- Will there be a happy ending for Elise and her twins? Maybe, Chloe will introduce Elise to her brother.
-Will Alex get what is coming to him? Will his sisters and mean mother have to move to public housing?
-What will the future hold for Frankie and her true love?
I rate this book 4.25.

Although we all know what is right for us, it is often a little hard to put it into practice. This is something that Frankie, our protagonist, demonstrates perfectly. She has the ideal man in mind and she is set on finding him, but while she takes her sweet time realising who the real love of her life is, things in her work life become turbulent.

Frankie is determined to have both a glamorous career in the media and a traditional romance, setting a nice example for all those career driven traditionalists out there. However, Knightly knows that a mere manhunt isn’t enough to enthral the modern day reader, so expect a neat collage of fraud, the mystique of female sexuality and the politics of the sexes created alongside. The narrative is honest and genuine, and you even get an insight into the mind of her dog, Romeo. This would be a great holiday read accompanied by a cocktail or two.

Honest rating would have been 1 and a half stars. I wanted a quick fluff read and that's what I got, I guess. I found the novel shallow and just over the top at times that it got to the point of being a little annoying. I checked and apparently, the only line that I highlighted (I always highlight things that I either like OR things that make me go "WTF?!") was the main character thinking, "gosh, aren't two men enough for her? I never realized she was such a man-eater!"

TALK ABOUT POT CALLING THE KETTLE BLACK. Like hello, aren't you dating through all the doctors you can find in Miami?! And she was thinking this about her BEST FRIEND. I seriously CANNOT stand characters like this. What a hypocrite. I should probably be giving this 1 star for this, but I don't know... I didn't really feel that much loathing for this novel (and I would know, since I've already felt it for several novels before).

What a sweet romance! I have been a fan of hers since I first read "Hot For You" the first in the Tropical Heat series. "Paging Dr. Hot" is filled with attractive and quirky characters. What is really unique about this story is that it is told not only from Frankie the female protaganists perspective but also from the very point of view of her loveable miniature dachshund aptly Romeo given his proclivity for putting his adorable nose into her love life.

The story of Frankie and her misguided attempts to find love and medical peace of mind kept me laughing and reading. In fact I finished it in one sitting. I would definitely recommend this novel to anyone who loves romance with a heaping helping of humor added in. Romeo is just priceless!

Loved this book. It was cute, sexy and funny. Francesca is a TV Reporter, who is also a bit of a hypochondriac. She is lovable, sexy and sometimes nutty. She is looking for a doctor to marry so that she will have someone to help her when she thinks she is sick. Some of the characters she dates are sweet and some are nuts. Enter Harrison, her neighbor and vet to her little dog, Romeo. He just happens to be perfect in every way, it takes Francesca a while to realize this. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick read with a little humor thrown in. The parts that are told in her dogs point of view are hilarious.

I have more than once crowned Ms. Knightly as my Queen of the Classic Contemporary Reads, and Paging Dr. Hot did NOT disappoint! On the contrary, she even had a few surprises this time around.

In the past, our lead hunk never had competition before. She also mixed it up giving us the uber adorable Romeo’s POV, Francesca’s super cute mini dachshund.

Luckily, one aspect that never changes with Ms. K, is her beautifully crafted HEAs. I can ALWAYS find one in her stories.

p.s. I would LOVE to see best friend, Chloe’s HEA! Hint, Hint!

I bought this book because it has a picture of a dachshund on the cover, and I am a crazy doxie lady. Anyhow, this book was just as I expected: a cute and sweet, albeit predictable, romance. It was enjoyable, but honestly, the biggest draw for me since I'm not a HUGE romance fan, were the parts with the dachshund. I bought the Kindle edition, and it could have used some format editing. Only two chapters showed up showed up on the indexing, but there were more than 20 chapters that just ran right into one another. It didn't detract from the story, but it was just a little annoying.

This books was entertaining. Sophia Knightly is a fantastic author and I have enjoyed all of her books that I have read so far. This story takes you through Francesca's crazy search to find the perfect doctor to marry and the whole time the sexy vet next door is available. Francesca's dog Romeo also tell us his side of the story and is so funny throughout the book. It makes me wonder what my pets are thinking. If you like a cute love story then this book is for you.
