Le Gang des gaffeurs
Dupuis et Marsu Productions rééditent la totalité des gags de Gaston Lagaffe, regroupés dans l'ordre chronologique en 19 albums. À l'occasion de cette nouvelle édition, on retrouve enfin les couvertures signées Franquin.
En 1997, pour les quarante ans du personnage, les gags de Gaston Lagaffe avaient été réédités selon un ordre strictement chronologique. Les lecteurs disposaient enfin d'une édition cohérente : fini les R1, R2, etc.,... sans tome R5, qui apparaissait malgré tout quelques années plus tard !...
Malheureusement, on perdit au passage les belles illustrations dessinées par Franquin.
Douze ans après cette dernière réédition, les lecteurs vont enfin pouvoir retrouver les couvertures du maître... tout en conservant les bénéfices d'une édition chronologique des gags.
Bref, c'est une version 100% Franquin de Gaston Lagaffe que Dupuis et Marsu Productions proposent aux amateurs, qui pourront compléter leur collection, sans craindre de faire de doublons.

I have a 1976 hardback reprint in French from Dupuis. Originally published in book form in 1974. I think this particular album was my very first introduction to Franco-Belgian cartoons on arrival in France as a child. It is one of the craziest and funniest of the series, bursting with hilarious detail. It is still laugh out loud even now, reread for the Nth time over all these years, even if the gags are quite dated. Genius.

This Gaston album is brilliant...a masterpiece. I enjoyed every page, each brought me smiles and laughter.
I first heard about Gaston Lagaffe when I was taking French courses in high school. As a huge fan of animation and cartoons, I, out of curiosity, branched out and did some research on Franco-Belgian BD characters. Gaston really stood out to me due to his sheer, lovable quirkiness, comical adventures, unique inventions, love for animals, and his overall child-like personality and refusal to grow up. Never taking things for granted, he finds opportunity in every situation. Incredibly creative, down-to-earth, and endearing, Gaston instantly won my heart after reading this bande dessinée. Always making mistakes and causing chaos in the office, either due to his wacky inventions or the mischief of his pets, Gaston utters his famous phrase, "M'enfin !" when something goes amiss. However, he doesn't dwell on his constant blunders and keeps on being the optimistic, fun-loving, experimental person he is, and is in good faith.
André Franquin was an incredibly talented artist and writer and will be missed. His character designs and illustrations are perfect, and they display so much energy and personality. If you love comics and fun characters, definitely check out Gaston. I do not believe many (or any) of his comics are translated into English, but if you know enough French, this is a bande dessinée to not miss out on. Wish he was more recognized here in the U.S., I think people here would really enjoy him!

This was the first Guust Flater album I received, and I became a huge Franquin fan. Apart from collecting everything I could lay my hands on, I also went to a huge exhibit in Brussels with my wife and newborn son, who we photographed lying on Gaston's boxing glove chair.
An absolute master, the late Andre Franquin will be sorely missed.

J’aime Gaston Lagaffe, mais surtout ne lui dites pas. Ça doit être vite lassant d’avoir un ami comme lui ! L’inviter chez soi doit engendrer un surcoût de l’assurance habitation… Merci pour tous les fous rires, Gaston !

Gaandeweg werden de Guust Flater-albums steeds meer een aanklacht tegen de akelige kanten van het bestaan en meer een ode aan de fantasie. Zo nemen dromen een steeds grotere plek in. In dit album vormen de drie dromen een meer of minder continue reeks. Helaas worden de gags er hierdoor niet grappiger op, maar Franquins tekenkunst blijft van onverminderd hoge kwaliteit en een genot om naar te kijken.

Quand il s'agit d'inventions, Gaston pense à plein de choses sauf peut-être au travail et au courrier en retard mais c'est tellement plus intéressant de créer des choses ou de penser au bien-être de ses animaux et de ses collègues, même si ce n'est pas toujours au goût de ces derniers...

Die Liehiebe, die Liehiebe ist eine Himmelsmacht
Bisher dachte man, dass die Liebe von M'oiselle Jeanne zu Gaston eine einseitige Angelegenheit ist. Doch, wie man in diesem romantischen Band lernt: Auch Gaston träumt mehrfach davon, mit M'oiselle Jeanne auf einer einsamen Insel zu stranden, sie vor Haien zu retten und als ihr strahlender Held dazustehen... ob die Dame damit wirklich glücklich werden würde?
