Francine Paula Pascal was an American author best known for her Sweet Valley series of young adult novels. Sweet Valley High, the backbone of the collection, was made into a television series, which led to several spin-offs, including The Unicorn Club and Sweet Valley University. Although most of these books were published in the 1980s and 1990s, they remained so popular that several titles were re-released decades later.

A non-speculative super special, the the main focus being Elizabeth finding a pretty hen's egg on a farm and then accidentally hatching it. Sneeches—as she calls the chick—is so cute that the entire family fall in love with him and he also gets to guest-star in Mrs Otis's class's Easter skit and the Easter Bonnet Parade.

Elizabeth becomes very obsessed with the egg, and later with Sneeches, and I was rather expecting there to be a moral to that, but instead everyone else just becomes obsessed with Sneeches too! If anything, she's punished for not spending her every moment looking after and thinking about him, because . All's well in the end, of course, because this is a book aimed at the under eights!

Elizabeth finds an egg and she has fallen in love with the egg. She takes it everywhere she goes and she sleeps with the egg and one day the egg hatches and she sees a tiny chick. The whole family falls in love with the chick. It's a cute story.

Alice takes the twins to a farm where Liz finds a beautiful green egg! She takes it home and sleeps with it under her pillow, makes a weird fanny pack thing for her to wear it in, and won’t let anyone (especially Jess) touch it. Alice offers to boil it but Liz refuses. Good thing too, because one morning the egg is cracked (maybe because she’s putting it under her pillow?!) and there’s a chick instead! She names him Sneeches and he thinks Liz is his Mummy! She’s obsessed with him and neglects her family and friends. But Ned insists they take him back to the farm 🥺 Liz finally catches up on her responsibilities by writing the Easter Skit about a hide and seek chick, but then Sneeches really goes missing! The family search for him and Ned is frantic! Liz finally finds him and Ned says they can keep him! The next day, Sneeches is the star of the skit, but Jess is sad because they didn’t get a chance to create her an Easter bonnet. So Liz whips one up - with Sneeches! Jess wins for best bonnet, Liz wins for best egg (before he hatched) and the twins just win at life in general.
My rating - 3/10 - I’m stuck on the part where Liz didn’t crack that egg under her pillow every night…?!
