For sheer entertainment, he was hard to beat. The Man of a Thousand Stories and the quick smile also stored up spiritual power form the Lord, and the result of all these characteristics was that Lester Sumrall worked to advance the gospel for a staggering 65 years. A leader. This giant of Pentecostal circles never saw himself that way, preferring to steamroll through projects god had for him. From his hilarious beginnings as a teenage preacher staring at a roomful of bemused farmers, to his final work as director of global food outreach, Sumrall lived with no regrets. This look back at his life is by turns funny, poignant, and inspiring. In this day of denominational partnership, which Sumrall would no doubt have loved, Christians of all backgrounds will enjoy the passion and power of a most remarkable life. Sumrall passed away in 1996, but not before preparing the ministry for that event. He worked to the last to feed the souls and bodies, the passions of his extraordinary life. I daily realize that I cannot fill my father?s shoes, bit I find myself walking in his footsteps ? sharing his love for the lost, pasturing the church he founded, leading the areas of ministry that God first entrusted him, and believing and trusting God to direct us and give us strength to complete all that He has called us to do. Let me encourage you to ?arise? and continue to trust Him. Stephen Sumrall 240 pages Photo Section 5 1/2 X 8 3/8 Paperback
I read this during the summer and still feel so touched by it. This book takes you on a journey, is all I can say. I cannot describe how relatable the comments were. Anyways, really good, A+. If you like testimonies about God, this is the one for you.
My mom recommended the book. I am so glad she suggested it, knowing that a man obeyed God without question at such a young age. The story is inspirational, God-filled, empowering. Lester Sumrall wants you to live a life not of your own oh, but with God at the center. This is an excellent book for any Christian; it does not matter what level or age you are at. Just enjoy the book and be blessed.
A story of faith and trusting in God. The book reads like an action packed novel you never know what is going to happen next. Lester Sumrall makes the world seem so small when on countless occasions he meets up with people thousands of miles from home at just the right time. Simply put this book will build your faith and you will sit back and say WOW!
I love reading missionary stories, because they are generally so encouraging and inspiring. The Life Story of Lester Sumrall is not exception to the rule. I also love a good redemption story, and Lester Sumrall certainly had one of those.
This book is easy to read. It does mention demon possession, prostitution (sex), and homosexuality. All are important things to discuss with one's children, but you could easily skip these parts if your kids are younger.
Overall, I think this book points to the nature of our sovereign and faithful God, which makes it a keeper in my opinion.
I've received this e-book for free in an exchange for my honest opinion.
Encouraging to be strong in your faith and OBEDIENCE
There was never a dull moment in this book. Everything was filled with drama, faith, obedience, challenges, and more faith and it’s encouraging because you didn’t have any money saved up, and God always provided, and he was able to have a family and still provide for them.
I thank God for this book. Dr Sumrall’s life was that of faith, trust and OBEDIENCE! If we must see the move of God like he did, we must trust, love and obey The Lord like He did.
One of the best biographies I've read.. Had an impact on my life.. A life worth emulating. May the annointing and favour that fell upon the life of Lester Sumrall fall upon me in Jesus name
