A lovely book in which the photography is delightful. But when I see the word "Bible" that to me is a promise that the author will educate me, in depth, on a skill set or fund of information. The lack of information, details, or organization was an embarrassment. I've read advertising that gives more data. Also, one implies they are authorized to write a Bible by the choice of such a title, and one should be tops in their field in skill. This is where celebrity is irrelevant. The content was meager, little technique drawn, and the end results showed the publishers have hired a great photographer. Some of the cakes were just ludicrous, others amateurish. There was no mention of how to make piped flowers or decorations, or sugar work. And currently cakes, especially wedding cakes, are not the incoherent design she offered. It seems to me that lately some authors are dumbing things down, so in this case instead of showing how a cake can be art and the artist's methods, she presented desserts anyone could whip up with little ingenuity or originality. This is a pretty book of her version of British favorites, but if you want a Bible to guide you in cake decorating I'd look elsewhere.
