I also bought the larger edition of this book also produced by Disney, but this is strangely, I think, the more stronger book. Especially for the illustrations which is much more vibrant and colourful in this edition. I honestly love this little book as a fan of this Disney classic.

This one my son got from the same family friend. He equally loved it but preferred the other book to this one. This book is also very entertaining and fun for both the parent and the child to read together. Illustrations are superb.

So Basil of Baker Street, the great mouse detective, agreed to help Olivia Flaversham. He intended to put a stop once and for all to the evil doings of Professor Ratigan.

One of Tania's charity shop finds and another blast of nostalgia. I have vague memories of watching the film, which this book is based on, in my childhood.

Using shots from the film, the book summarises the story in bitesize and easily digestible form. It lacks some of the charm from film and the tension of the narrow escapes is completely lost.

It'll get a home with our other first edition ladybird books. 3 stars.

The Great Mouse Detective has always been one of my favorite Disney movies, and one that I think is vastly underappreciated. In fact, it's probably the reason I'm such a huge Sherlock Holmes fan today.

I remember having a bunch of these books as a kid, mostly due to my mother being a teacher, but I never had this one (to my knowledge). This one I found at a library sale in New Bern, and I thought it would be perfect for my Little Free Library. Hopefully some child will discover the joy of this story and love it like I did.

This is about as exciting a book as Disney gets, with Basil of Baker Street, a brilliant mouse detective, proving himself worthy against the horrible criminal Ratigan. Basil saved Olivia's father, who had been kidnapped by Ratigan's ganglion a good against evil mystery.

This has been my favorite movie since I was 3 years old! It was a cute little read and definitely enjoyed seeing screenshots of the film to bring the book more to life.
