Korngold and Fortenberry have created another cute Sadie story. Sadie loves preschool and Hanukkah. when it is time to bring home the handmade menorah, Sadie trips and the Menorah is shattered. But Mom manages to save one special piece and use it as part of a new family tradition. Rabbi Korngold has spun a delightful take about salvaging a problem and finding a solution. the pictures by Julie Fortenberry are adorable.

Sadie ruins her class project in an accident, leading to a new tradition for her family.

I like Sadie and how she's presented - the dilemma is genuine, and her family is very supportive of her. This is a nice story where Hanukkah traditions can be taught and discussed with your child. I really like the Sadie books overall and my children have also enjoyed them greatly.

Really great book for kids to read. It is all about a girl whose heart gets broken when her Menorah shatters into pieces. It teaches kids though to look past the bad things and to what could be. It is an enduring story and also opens up new perspectives to kids who might not know anything about the Jewish community or the holidays they celebrate.

I was extremely disappointed to see that this book featured illustrations of females wearing yamulkes. I didn't realize that the author is a female "rabbi" related to the reform movement. This is not a book for true Torah observant Jews and their children. I wish I could return it and get my money back.

This is a Hanukkah tale about a little girl and her family. She makes a Menorah, but it doesn't come out as she expects it to. Luckily, she and her mother find a solution, and it ends up even better than she originally thought! There are references to many Hanukkah traditions, and the pages are beautifully drawn and colored. It is a great story for children who celebrate Hanukkah or for those who might want to know more about it.

Sadie makes a special menorah but it breaks into many pieces before she even gets it home. Her mom finds a way to turn a disaster into something special. Lovely and a gentle way to introduce how sometimes we can turn something bad into something wonderful.
