John Corcoran loved the isolation of the Shawnee National Forest with the crisp spring air, the sounds of nature, and the bracing scent of pine. Isolation is what movie star Jennifer Turner craved as well, an escape that only a weekend hike, a long and blissful distance from Hollywood, could provide.
Yesterday, they were strangers--until a fateful accident, deep in the forest and far from civilization, throws them together and plunges them both into darkness. For Jennifer it is as unnerving as the night itself, trapped in such close quarters with a man as mysterious as John. He is alpha: bold, rough, and masculine, but with a scent of firewood and spice she finds intoxicating.
In the dark, Jennifer's nightmares spring to life. The only way to vanquish them is by submitting to blind, naked need. Now, as intimately close as a man and a woman can be, they find themselves alone, battling fear and vulnerability. Only an unexpected passion will comfort them--a sensual, raw experience from which neither is certain they want to be rescued.
Beth Kery’ll be writing a series for Berkley called One Night of Passion, involving lovers from a connection of friends and family. The common thread is that each book starts out with an impulsive, steamy one night stand. Of course a lifetime of love follows, but each couple has some struggles to go from one night to true love forever. Part of that news is that Beth’ll be writing this series under another pen name, Bethany Kane! Beth hopes you like it, it’s similar to Beth Kery, but different. And, no worries, Beth will continue to publish under Beth Kery, as well.
A famous actress, a hot blind lumberjack wannabe, and a faithful and brilliant canine companion come together in this unlikely romance and somewhat cheesy erotic novella.
A little landslide in the wilderness of California drops our hero and heroine into a sinkhole. The heroine has a fear of the dark, and the hero lives in the dark. Sexy times are inevitable because they are both hot (obv.) and some slap and tickle and a little bondage add to the spice factor. For a quick, sexy starter romance, this is perfect.
-Bethany Kane (aka Beth Kery) writes for smart girls. Broad vocabulary, emotional intelligence, feasible plot and hot, interesting sex.
-Alpha Male on tap, and he’s blind! One would think it would make him seem weak, but it’s just the opposite. He is capable, in control and sexy!
-John’s Dog Enzo. He’s beyond Lassie-cool in my book.
-That the author takes a very far-from-ideal circumstance and turns it into a darkly erotic environment, complete with sensory deprivation.
-Instructive fellatio. Why is that always so damned hot?
-Jennifer is a sweet heroine. Strong but with vulnerability. Very likable.
-Because of John’s blindness, we get his point of view through sights, smells, tastes and sensation. It’s very refreshing.
-The sex is so descriptive and sexy. It’s scorching!
-This author always writes her heroes inventive in bed. The things they use for sex aides, yum! And this book is no different.
What I didn’t Like about Bound to You:
-The epilogue was good, but I would have loved for it to be more fleshed out. I realize that this is most likely due to word limits set by the publisher and it doesn’t detract from the book. I guess you could say that I didn’t want it to end.
“I’m trying to get off my jeans. They’ll have to stay where they are, I think,” he said, coming down over her, bracing his upper body on his hands. “I can’t wait another second to be inside you.”
“Yes.”
“I put on a condom,” he told her as he moved between her opened thighs, preparing to penetrate her.
“Thank you, I—oh, God,” she mumbled when he pressed the head of his penis into her pussy. Her heat penetrated the condom. Her flesh squeezed him, sucked at him like a hungry mouth. An overwhelming, primal mandate rose in him to mate—to mate hard and fast and well. He tilted her hips back to receive him, growling gutturally as he arrowed his cock into her clamping channel.
“Don’t resist me, honey. Try to relax.”
“I’m not resisting you,” she said in a choked voice. “I want you so much.”
He held the base of his cock with one hand, working it into her with subtle up-and-down motions. His flexed buttocks provided the steady pressure necessary for penetration, but he remained unmoving.
“You’ve got a tight little pussy,” he muttered.
“Maybe you have an exceptionally big, hard cock.” She sounded like she’d spoken between clenched teeth.
“Too much?”
“God, no.”
“Good. Because you made my cock this stiff. I’m going to have to fuck you hard.”
I really enjoyed this erotic novella by Bethany Kane (aka Beth Kery.) I read her full length book last year, Addicted to You, and it was a a dark, erotic book that that I liked (and it made my favorite sex scenes of 2011 post). So I was happy to see a novella (and a future full-length this fall) from this author.
Jennifer Turner, a well know Hollywood actress is escaping to the Shawnee National Forest for a little peace and quiet. Hiking through the woods, she ventures off the trail a bit as she tries to sort out her mind. She recently went through a terrible scare (something I’ll let you uncover as you read) that is very hard for her to deal with.
John Corcoran is also walking through these woods. He hears a woman singing and knows she must be on his property. John was born blind, but has adapted quite well to his surroundings. He has a cane and his trusty guide dog to aide him as well. As he starts heading towards Jennifer, she hears him coming and freaks out. Nightmares from the dark incident in her past, make her panic and she starts running. John starts running after her and they both fall into sinkhole of sorts in the forest floor. Mining used to occur here, and they have fallen into a large, and very dark cavern.
Now these two strangers are stuck together for who knows how long. Being way off the path, they have no idea how long it will be until someone will find them. Jennifer is terrified of the dark and John, living in darkness himself, helps her cope as they come to know one another.
Bound to You pairs two strangers together that get down and dirty fast. I think their coupling may have been rushed a bit, but when you are stuck in a deep, dark hole, what else is there to do? And what unfolds is very, very dirty sex. John may be blind, but damn does he know how to have sex with a woman. I think because John is blind and he relies so much on his senses, the author makes the sex scenes, when it is in his point of view, that much more descriptive. I think she does a nice job with this.
John has a beard, and wears flannel (my dream man maybe?) and really tunes into Jennifer’s needs. She has a panic attack of sorts, relapsing from a devastating incident. Bethany Kane eventually tells you what happened to Jennifer to make her this scared, and it really is gruesome. We needed a strong reason for Jennifer to cling to Jonathan, a stranger in a dark hole, and to seek comfort. And the reason Bethany Kane gives is a pretty good one. On the other hand, John had recognized Jennifer’s voice when she was singing in the forest (as she is a well known actress). So he has that connection to her, which makes their coupling a little more realistic.
Lucky for them they have a trickling waterfall in their cave, and John’s dog, throws them down a rabbit for dinner. Quite some dog, yes?
If you want an erotic novella, with edgy, explicit sex scenes, I think you’ll like this one.
Hot! Kind of an unusual storyline--Hollywood actress (Jennifer) jogging in the forest falls into a sinkhole on the property of blind, hunky chiropractor/artist (John). He falls in trying to save her, and they spend a steamy night in this dark cavern while awaiting rescue. A little hard to believe that someone would be up to having wild, adventurous sex while trapped inside a dark, cold, dirty cave--with a stranger, no less--but leave those thoughts behind and have a good time with this one! Beth Kery/Bethany Kane writes some of the steamiest, dirtiest sex scenes around, and she doesn't disappoint with this one. I enjoyed reading about a blind hero, which was something a little different. My only complaint is that the story wasn't longer. 4 stars
*This story is loosely related to Addicted to You, but can definitely be read as a stand alone.
Short and sweet. I loved the idea of two perfect strangers being trapped for an indefinite amount of time and getting close as the result. Mild BDSM play (spanking, etc.) Nothing too crazy. ;)
Wow! This was hot and while very short I bought the quick romance and sex. The ending was very quick and wished it was longer and I would have given it a 5 stars.
Beth Kery can spin a sensual, sexually charged, highly emotional story that keeps you turning the pages until the end.
When Jennifer and John fall into a sink hole in the middle of the forrest, things look bleak. Not knowing when they would be rescued, or if the message they sent would make it out from 20 feet under ground, John and Jennifer are forced to stay over night in the cave they find themselves in.
John having learned how to survive in the wilderness, and despite being blind, starts to think of what they need to do to make it through their ordeal. He knows what needs to done; he even knows how to comfort Jennifer as she begins to panic from fear.
Both end up in each others arms before too long. And by the end of their first encounter both feel connected. Talking through most of the night getting to know one another, as well as another wonderfully charged encounter, both Jennifer and John know their connected.
After being rescued the following morning, convinced Jennifer would not need or want him any more, John disappears before Jennifer can find him after returning from the hospital.
Finally after all most two weeks, John calls and ends up at Jennifer's home in L. A., to fight for what they discovered together. With Jennifer admitting she wants that too, John decides to take the chance at love with her.
This was a cute short story about two people who fall in a hole in the woods. One is blind and the other is famous movie star. It was a cute little story. I enjoyed it a lot.
John and Jennifer fall into a sinkhole… less than 12 hours later, they are having kinky sex…I mean how is this believable??! But of course, romance reasons and who cares. I couldn’t stand how sexy John was with being blind and him talking about audio porn, using his cane to spank Jennifer! This novella is ridiculously hot.
A great quick sexy novella read. I was drawn to this book because the hero, John was blind. There are very few books out where the hero has a disability. Of the ones that I have read, I liked them. That was the same for Bound to You. I liked it.
John's disability really didn't hinder him at all. He pretty much does exactly what a man with normal eyesight could do. This ability includes being totally blind yet able to hike in a dangerous forest full of sinkholes. This sinkhole is how Jennifer and John end up spending a lot of quality time together; underground in the sinkhole itself.
It was dirty and dank and I could smell the earth and dampness as the area underground was being described. Their environment certainly didn't discourage their attraction nor their conversation. It was fitting that Jennifer's stark fear of the dark ended up being the trigger to having John comfort her through the night. Comfort is a great motivator to get close. John and Jen definitely used that time to discover their sexual attraction to one another. Who knew being underground in a sinkhole could be so sexy?
There were a few things that raised my eyebrows, like Enzo the wonder dog catching a rabbit and tossing it down to them in the sinkhole for dinner, but all in all, a good read.
I did wish for a bit longer tie up at the end. It was really quick ending and after the entire story had John and Jen in one stationary spot, I would have liked to have read a bit more about their interaction after they were rescued.
Teasers: pocket treasures, singer, underground erotic scene
Really enjoyed this short, but sweet novel. The sex scenes, damn they weren't sweet. They were hot. The characters were really likable, and it was a pretty refreshing to read something that wasn't so freaking cliche. It was different. The past of the two main characters were different. For example, the hero didn't have a past of abuse. And the roots of the heroines fears isn't because or rape or abuse either. Instead, their past were really different compared to the cliche stories floating within the new adult genre, and the personalities of the characters were pretty different as well. I loved the problem and setting of the story, it was very strong and just different. Overall, I enjoyed the novel, however my only complaint is the ending. If only it was... I don't know, more explanatory like the beginning of the novel? The ending kind of three me off, because it was such a rush. I understand it was just a novella, but if only the ending could've been the same pace as the beginning and the middle of the story. I really liked it, wouldn't read it again, but enjoyed it a lot :) Would recommend as a light read, (though remember, the sex scenes are stea-my.)
It's hard to put into words as to why this book didn't quite work for me. I could say that the accident that puts the two characters together and the quickness that they jump into sex was a bit ridiculous. But that's not it, really. Laura Kaye's Hearts in Darkness had an equally ridiculous setup but I liked both characters.
Here? Not so much. It's not that I didn't like them, I just didn't connect with them. I get that this is a smutty novella. There is only so much character development you can get into based on the limitation of the word count. But...
I guess the problem was me. The fact is that I just didn't click with either character and I thought it was just a bit much for a smutlette to have both characters 'reveal' their problems (his divorce/her accident). Perhaps my biggest problem for me was the price for what I thought was really short and a tad shallow.
3.5 stars, rounded up. Sexy short story about a blind man who knows what to do with his hands (and his mouth). Rowr. John Corcoran is holidaying in his cabin in the woods. Out for a walk, he hears Hollywood actress/singer Jennifer Turner singing as she hikes. Knowing there are sinkholes off the trail, he follows. Both of them fall into a sinkhole and are stuck there overnight until rescue can arrive. Jennifer (for reasons which are explained later in the story) has a pathological fear of the dark and John helps keep her, ahem, occupied. Mandi from Smexybooks recommended and I picked it up after hearing from her that this was a dirty story about filling dirty holes :D
I saw this on some list, and decided to read it this AM, as I needed a short read.
This appears to be the first in a new series, and I can't wait to see the next book if that is the case.
The description of the book is accurate, so read it for the details. What I can tell you is that the quality of the writing, and the editing, is excellent. I was never distracted by poor grammar, irregular tenses, typos, and the like.
The story itself was interesting, not loaded with the "same old same old", tired plot devices.
And the sex scenes... explicit, and oh so HOT, and plenty of it. Be still my heart, that H is something else, I might just look for a hole to fall into if he's going to save me.
I've never read anything quite like this. infact when I realized he was blind I wasnt sure what to think or weather I would like the book. However his being blind did not affect my enjoyment of the book and I actually liked that it was different in that way. I couldnt and didnt put down this book and was able to finish it in one reading. It was short and sweet with a happy ending so I cant complain about anything. I like how well this author describes everything so that I was able to relate to everything the way John did. I could picture how John felt being blind and I think that's hard for an author to do. That instead of just saying he was blind she was able to show it as well. I'm thinking about looking into this author more she seems really good.
I love Beth Kery's contemporary erotic romances, she's one of the few auto-buy authors I still have left. And no one does oral sex scenes quite like her. There's something very special about Beth Kery's sex scenes, no matter if they are vanilla or contain BDSM elements. I don't care much for rock star and Hollywood plots, but I made an exception for this mini-series by the author. Bound To You features an actress heroine, but fortunately, there isn't a lot of focus on her profession. Practically 80% of the plot evolves around the blind hero and the heroine being captivated in an underground hole in the dark. Very sexy, very erotic and steamy with a bit of angst and a lot of touching. Beth Kery's writing always sucks me into and involves me in the story. B
3.5 stars rounded up to 4. A very short, erotic novella about a blind man living a reclusive life who literally falls for a top Hollywood movie star.
He is out one day, hears her singing while she's taking a walk, recognizes her voice and attempts to follow her. She becomes scared and runs from him only to have both of them fall into a sink hole. She is deathly afraid of the dark because of a horrendous accident involving a man caught in an elevator at one of her movie shoots.
Well, our blind alpha male mountain man certainly shows her the "ropes" of how to remain calm in a sink hole. They also talk about their lives and form a deep bond in their hellish circumstances, but will they be able to have a relationship after rescue? Read and be rewarded.
*****Quickie Read***** I am really liking these realistic story lines. This is another recommended read I would suggest to friends who are looking for a short story with a plot and sex.
I think I would have liked this one better had I not disliking Jennifer. She was just TSTL, walking where people warned her not to, then running from someone trying to warn her again. It served her right to have ended up in a sinkhole, but only a pampered Hollywood actress would end up being stuck with a guy like John.
I really liked John, loved that he didn't let him blindness stop him. In fact I think he did better than most sighted people!
For some reason, this series is just not doing it for me. The sex is still hot, but the conflicts and the character development are just not very engaging. I know it's a short novella, so I shouldn't expect a lot of character development, and that's fine -- but then don't write all these conflicts and dramas that suddenly get resolved overnight.
There is one scene in this book worth reading (hint: it's the dirty one). All else is mildly goofy but bearable. However, the book clearly needed one more encounter of the close kind before wrapping; the lack of such a scene left me nonplussed, as the book basically just ends with their reunion scene.
Great, steamy short erotic novella. I loved the set up between a blind hero and a superstar actress. Great love scenes down in a cave and in the end the author made it believable. I will be looking forward to her other books.
A pretty good read, though I think the story was too short for all it was trying to do. There was no transition between scenes, and the characters each had issues that deserved deeper exploration. It all ended up feeling a bit rushed.
