Five poems celebrate the making of a very special pie, an upside-down boy, a sneezing elephant, an encounter with a monster, and an alien who lands in a bowl of chicken soup.
David "D.J." Steinberg is the author of nineteen published books for children that have sold more than 1.5 million copies to date, including USA Today bestseller Kindergarten, Here I Come; Grasshopper Pie and Other Poems; and his graphic novel series The Adventures of Daniel Boom AKA Loud Boy.

When he is not writing books or playing animation executive, David's favorite job is husband and dad, with his wife and three favorite critics—er—sons in Los Angeles, California.
Grasshopper Pie is a fun play on words that kids will really enjoy. Books like this really show how much fun it can be to create stories and poetry. The illustrations only add to the humor behind the words.
I would use this book in 1st through 4th to inspire children to write and think about word choice and ideas.

This book was enjoyed not only by my daughter, but by me as well. Wonderfully funny poems that will make anyone smile. A great introduction to poetry for children, this lets them know that poems can be fun!
