Hi, and welcome to my Goodreads page!

I love to write books about living a fabulous life without spending a lot of money.

I adore mindset work and how we get to be happier and more successful just from looking at things from a different angle. We get to change our circumstances if we want to, and change our thoughts as well.

My goal when I write my books is to provide inspiration, ideas, and reminders for my readers so that they can wear their rose-tinted sunglasses as they live their life. Just like I do!

I have found that everything works out better when you are positive as much as possible. When you expect things to work out for the best. When you have gratitude for all you have. And when you are always looking at how to make your life better, and richer (in all ways). In doing all these things you are elevating the happiness levels of those around you as well as yourself.

Of course life isn't perfect and we all go through sad or difficult times, however I believe when we are starting from a base level of positivity, it makes those times easier to bear.

I love the saying attributed to Queen Elizabeth II's private secretary, who told her that her job was to spread a carpet of happiness wherever she went. I have taken this on as my own life's motto and with my writing too.

I hope you enjoy reading my books and get loads of golden nuggets from them. Happy reading and please let me know your thoughts or leave a review!

Update: reduced to 3* after trying the newly issued audiobook version. Somehow it's less inspiring and more obviously repetitive in audio? Not really keen on the narrator chosen, I wish Fiona had narrated it herself as I enjoyed her own audiobook and videos, but this somehow sounded... Soulless? I don't know, it was just blah.

Original review:
Fun but I'm still unclear about what or who "that girl" is. Lots of bite sized chunks of inspiration and a few things I liked that I'd never encountered elsewhere, like having a pet name for yourself to use in your self-talk - cute idea and it's difficult to be mean to yourself while calling yourself a babe or pumpkin or hot stuff or whatever!

Practical and Fun!

I have book shelves; physical, Audible and Kindle, groaning under the weight of personal development, self help and spiritual growth books. This book is different because it's so real and practical. There's no six week preamble about the science behind the approach, so associated product, course or app you must invest in to make it work and you can make a start from the very first suggestion.
Also, it's fun; you don't need to revisit and re-experience past trauma to be happier right now. It might be too superficial for some but for me, I'm too old to make everything excruciatingly painful, in the hope it might lead to future happiness - I'd rather channel some main character energy and go for a walk like every camera is on me and hold my head high. Try it!

It’s rare I give 1⭐️ to a self help book, I mean it would have to tell me to light my grandmother on fire to keep me warm in a blizzard or something to get that rating.

That said, this book came damn close. There aren’t really “100 ways to be that girl”, it’s a Pinterest board that threw up into book format. Other books along this vane may take a topic like “streamline your morning routine” and give ideas of meal plans, or ways to simplify your morning. Maybe even some same rituals or ways to incorporate self care. This is just a list of random ideas with little explanation how to implement, or why. Just ideas like “become a smoothie girl”, “don’t be a victim”, “be unique”, “create your own healthy lifestyle”, and “be financially savvy”.

Ultimately, I feel like the author bit off more than she could chew, and sadly, it resulted in an underwhelming book that feels blah and uninteresting.

💯

Reading Fiona's works is like listening to a best friend as well as having support and cheerleader in one. Mindset is key to any success in life. She gives practical examples of how we can put our thoughts into action.
I would recommend this book for anyone feeling stuck or unimportant. I feel encouraged and motivated to be the person I've dreamed about. Hopefully, you can be as well.

So hard to rate

I know I such give five stars but I don't feel that it would be right to do so. Some good ideas in the book but they keep getting repeated in different ways. Ideas but are they realistic?

I actually saw That Girl when I was out to lunch with my family. She walked in and looked nothing like everyone else. She was all style. They are out there but they get there on their own.

Enjoyed this book. The narrator was uplifting and a joy to listen to. The author is more dull and I have to amp the speed to stay listening and engaged when she narrates her own books. This book was super short, more like a long blog post. To pay as a “book” was ridiculous although I enjoyed the content. Finally a “book” that was not as repetitive as all her others have become. Hope more books are read by this narrator.

I liked how short and sweet all of these tips were. at times they felt way too broad, but i think that made it easier for whoever is reading this to adapt them to their own life, preference, and circumstances. i got a little confidence boost too as i realized i do many of these things! overall a quick, fun read for anyone wanting to level up their confidence.

Growing up without a mom (cancer sucks!) there is something I love about Fiona's writing. Like listening to a mother's advice-or-since I am well into my 4th decade- a big sister. Love the tips & inspiration. Fun reading.

Not What I Thought

I went into this booking, thinking it would be ‘twee’! It turned out to be uplifting, insightful and amusing, the bonus chapter and tips was fabulous, I am taking all of those into my new that girl main character energy life, thanks!

I read or listen to all of Fiona’s books. Although I find them a little repetitive, they are pleasant to listen to and sometimes it’s a good refresher on what I’ve heard in the past books.

I remember watching “That Girl” on TV when I was younger.
