Once Upon a Twilight

Rate this book
Millicent and Malinda Hearthwell couldn’t be more different. Though the two sisters have always been close, Millicent is often frustrated by her sister’s inability to be what she perceives as mature and realistic. Too often, Malinda surrenders to her impulses, throwing herself thoughtlessly and headlong into flights of reckless fantasy. On the day before Malinda’s wedding, Millicent finds herself dragged yet again on another of her sister’s wild and imaginative quests. Convinced that she will beseech the Fey Ones to help her escape the dull world around her and her betrothed, Malinda persuades Millicent into riding out in the forest near their home. When things do not go as planned, Millicent realizes she’s lost not only her sister in the deep heart of the forest, but her own way as well.Just when she thinks she can go on no longer, a strange woman from the forest offers Millicent shelter from the storm. As Millicent comes to better know the generous and beautiful stranger, she begins to wonder if perhaps her sister’s far-fetched beliefs might have some merit to them after all, and that maybe, just maybe, fairytales and romance actually do exist beyond a page.

Winter Pennington does it again. Sucks me in with a story that I can't put down and leaves me wishing she would write faster. This was a quick, enjoyable fairytale like read.

All I can say is that thus far I have not been disappointed with anything of hers that I have read. Sure that day might come because I seem to be placing Winter Pennington on a writers pedestal but I just enjoy the way they flow and the fact that they are fantasy/paranormal but still feel real to me. They are a wonderful escape from daily life. I like them.

It's raining here and I am reading a fairytale 😁 how serendipitous. Anyways, a satisfying beauty and the beast like story. A worthwhile read!

one of my top 10 favorite authors

It appears that everything Winter writes just turns to gold to me. There isn’t anything that she has written that I haven’t loved. The way she processes and tells the tale of human emotions and puts them into actual words is astounding. She gives voice to the things I feel in my heart that my mind cannot articulate.

This story of Millicent and her love interest is wonderful. I love how the “first” meet is so profound that it shapes your destiny and you never saw it coming. This is a beautiful story. I wish there was more. It did leave me some questions that puzzled me. Maybe one day Winter will pick this up again and add more?

I miss Winter Pennington and her writing. I hope she returns soon with more books. There is no one out here that writes like her. She gives me things that my other favorite authors cannot. They each do different things to me. I am praying that Winter returns to writing. She is sorely missed.

This is a short read, but it's worth the $4.99. Why? Because it's a book about regaining one's faith in magic, while showing a piece of a fantastic faeland. I really wish there was a sequel. My only complaint is that it wasn't a part of an anthology. If you ever read this, Winter, could you write another fae story?

Do you believe in fairy tales? A wonderful short story. I read it in just a few hours. This is my first venture with this author. I guarantee, I'll be reading more of her works.
