Reporter Jamie Morrison got the scoop of a lifetime when she snagged a meeting with bestselling author Galen Hawke, but their rendezvous didn't end with an interview. Their immediate attraction led to a wicked night together and a plan to meet again—until an accident left Galen changed forever….
Now, one year later, Jamie is sent to interview Galen once more. When a snowstorm strands them together in his remote mountain lodge, they are both eager to explore their reawakened passion. But will Jamie stay by Galen's side when she discovers what he's become?

Night of the Cougar by Caridad Pineiro Paranormal romance novella with erotica elements. Jamie Morrison intended to interview bestselling author Galen Hawke but their explosive chemistry led to a night of passion rather than work. An accident that night has Galen in hiding. He was changed that night into a nightmare and he doesn’t want Jamie to be caught in it. Jamie isn’t willing to let Galen disappear and she travels to his remote mountain lodge hoping to reconnect.
Galen’s accident has made him sure that no one will accept him. He’ll never forget the passion he and Jamie shared but he needs to keep his distance.
Ha. Women are more accepting than that Galen! What’s a little animalistic behavior occasionally? Especially when it’s of a paranormal nature. Short, extremely hot and sexy, plus a bit of fantasy. An hour read that you should save for the evening at home.
A thoroughably enjoyable paranormal romance novella. Rather than the usual short action packed novella this was slower paced and passion filled, a nice change of pace from what I've been reading lately and I needed it.
I had planned to read a chapter or two before going to sleep but I kept going until I was finished despite how tired I was, a mark of a good story! :)
Beautiful cover too but then I LOVE big cat shifters...
"Night of the Cougar" by Caridad Pineiro is the third book in the "Dark Seduction" series and was an excellent read. I enjoyed the spice level and the whole story behind Jamie and Galen. My favorite part was when Jamie finally read Galens' book to see what it was about. I also liked that Galen trusted Jamie enough to tell her what happened to him during the accident he was in. I was able to read this story in less than a couple of hours.
I really like Ms. Caridad’s short stories. For the length of this short book, she provided just the right amount of romance and hot scenes.
Jamie Morrison, a local news reporter, is assigned to interview a popular, handsome, ex-cop now successful author, Galen Hawke. Instant attraction was obvious between Jamie and Galen. And adults that they are, they had acted on that attraction. A simple interview ended up a one-night stand. Unfortunately, that is all that it was. Until they meet again one year later, Jamie finds out why Galen never returned her calls.
I love stories of second chances. Though it has been one year later, both characters realized that their attraction for each other still exists. The romance was definitely believable and relationships such as these are certainly possible. There’s bit of action, a bit of mystery, definitely hot scenes. The only thing I wish there was more of is the background or more world building of the shifter part of the story. Being that it was a short story, I guess some parts of the book will suffer for it. I am hoping Ms. Caridad will take this plot and Vampire Consort (another short) further and make a series out of it.
This is a great erotic romance. Annie Hinkle did a great job performing this audiobook. The story was entertaining. Even though it’s a short novella it still told a pretty complete story. Of course I’d like it to be longer but it was really quite perfect just the way it is. Caridad Piñeiro is a very versatile author and I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read by her.
This is a short (around two hours) listen. The narrator did a wonderful job. Combined with the plot, which was somewhat predictable, yet kept my interest throughout. The sex scenes were graphic and well-written.
Overall this was an enjoyable short read/listen. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
I am no stranger to Caridad's work, and I won this book in audible (they did NOT have that option on here); however this is my first shifter romance by her.
This is my first foray in audible, and I must admit that it was an odd, strange experience; especially on hearing the sex scenes out loud. It took me a bit to stop giggling like a teen with certain words, amazed how neutral the narrative sounded.
The narrator tried to differentiate between Galen and Jamie. She managed to lower her voice, to change the cadance, and it made it easier to follow the dialgue between the heroine and hero
Story:
Galen's a wounded hero. Well he was wounded by the past when he met Jamie that first time. The spark, the sexual blaze between the two was quite evident.
Year later they are reunited by Jamie's job. However there was much more about Galen that Jamie needed to learn, a certain something that was not there before but a blaring wedge between them.
Jamie had the usual doubt anyone had a Galen's "news". It took a demonstration to prove that he's not bolts loose in the head.
Am I on the audible bandwagon? I'm still on the fence. Though I do have to admit that listening to the book sped up chores like dishes and cleaning. I had to pick a time when the hubby and two oldest boys were not around.
Jamie Morrison is a reporter that managed to get the story of a lifetime when she managed to get an interview with bestselling author Galen Hawke. What she never expected was the intense attraction between them. After one night together they made plans to get together again. That all changed when Galen was in an accident.
Galen Hawke was changed after his accident to the extent he never made his meeting with Jamie. Now she is back. Locked together in his mountain lodge because of a snowstorm they find that their attraction is just as strong as ever. But will Jamie be willing to stay with him after she finds out the changes that have happened to him?
Jamie is determined to find out what happened to Galen and see just where their attraction will lead but first she has to make it past the walls Galen has built around himself during the year they have been apart. Only time will tell if they will be able to have a future together or if the accident changed too much.
This is a great story that will pull the reader in and have them mourning when they reach the end of the story. This is one story not to miss. While it is a short story it is very much worth the time to read. The characters are very well written and they pull the reader in and will have them hoping that Galen and Jamie will get the happy ever after they so very much deserve.
I loved the character Jaime and how persistent she was with Galen. She never gave up on him, even when he told her his secret. She also put him in his place. (gotta love a female character like her) I recommend this book to anyone who loves the paranormal romance genre loves the erotic romance genre and loves were-cougars. (Oh yes, …were-cougars!!) This book will take you on a steamy ride up a mountain with a were-cougar what more could you ask for? (Now I want my were-cougar)
Reporter Jamie and author Galen spend a scorching night together. But Galen is a tormented soul who ends up being attacked by a cougar shifter. A year later Jamie arrives at his mountain retreat to get an interview with him, and becomes snowed in with the animal inside Galen that he can't control. All they want is to be together, but how can they possibly have a happily-ever-after?
I liked Jamie and Galen, Galen was hot, and so was the story. Recommended for a quick, scorching read. You can't go wrong with Caridad Pineiro.
I love the characters of Jamie, the hard hitting reporter, and Galen, the successful novelist. 'Night of the Cougar' tells their story. They are destined to be together but Galen is determined to protect Jamie from the fact that he has become a shifter. When an intense blizzard isolates them, they are forced to confront these truths. Even though Galen is now a were-cougar, they find a way to have a life together. My only complaint, the story ended too soon. I wanted more.
I thought this one was ok. I wish that there would have been more to the story because it seemed like there was a lot missing, especially considering there is a year from the start of the story to the end of it.
A little more story to this one than the previous Nocturne Craving book I read by this author but it is still more sex than story, which I don't particularly care for.
This actually had a story but I didn't care for it. The sex was nothing much as well. Not even the writing was compelling...Just mindless reading. Not impressed.

This is a short story and it feels like it. The characters have little to no depth, they are there to have sex and face the fact that one of them is a cougar. And the sex is not that hot...
