This a great book for toddlers and Preschoolers. Arthur’s dad gives him a chore to rake the leaves, but Arthur decides to play in the pile of leaves with his friends but they all decided to join in and help with the chore. Arthur and his friend’s finished raking the leaves and still managed to have time for play.

Learning Experience

I would use this book to teach children about the fall season as well as discuss the importance of team work. We would then make leaf collages and talk about different types of leaves and changing colors.

Our preschooler loves Arthur, so we expected it to be an instant hit. This one received a lukewarm reception. Ironically, the story ends before Arthur and friends complete their task. They have fun with the leaves, but never finish the job.

Arthur has to rake all the leaves by himself, but with pal around it's not so band, and soon his friends show up and there is more jumping in the leaves and raking them.

A simple story about Arthur raking leaves and his friends coming over to help. There is not much in the way of a plot and we never do find out what D.W.'s special job is.
