I like this book because it makes learning numbers more fun the just counting and showing the number and value of each number. On each page it has a different number and picture of a different animal each time. The different animals and bright colors are enough to keep the child interested and learning. Then even at the end has you try out counting pictures of each animal. This book can keep even kids with a short attention span interested its not to Long so they don’t get board.
Impulse - wouldn't have grabbed if I'd realized that it takes place in a zoo. :( Little sister is only on the cover. :( Ordinary simple counting concept book until the end, at which point the older sibling of the intended audience could practice their addition skills.
I was excited to read this because I loved Little Critter's books as a little girl. The pictures are very cute and creative. Each page the Little Critter counts animals at the zoo. What confuses me is the ending of this book. On the last page, we read: "How Many?". Something along those lines. There is a picture of each animal on that last page, and what are we supposed to count? Simply all the pictures of the animals? It's a fun book, but not my favorite for learning how to count.
A fun little numbers book. I must point out that the animals for #5 are definitely sea LIONS and not seals, but probably this mis-labeling will not have harmful effects. (Aletheia's review: I was able to get a grip on this chunky book, but a taste of the board pages still eludes me.)
