Gilbert Morris was one of today's best-known Christian novelists. He lived in Gulf Shores, Alabama, with his wife, Johnnie. He is the father to Lynn Morris and Alan Morris
It was an amazing read. It was very good to follow, but the writers did make an error. If you have read the book before this one (Revenge of the Space Pirate), you'll know what I'm referring to when you read the book!
Other than that one error, it was a very convincing book for science-fiction.
This is one of my favorite books in the series. A true sci-fi book, where there is a horde of giant killer locusts... :P There's also a good lesson in this book about not reading too much into "signals" in friendships and relationships... As always, communication is very important in situations like that.
*spoilers*
Dai Bando has a dream that God is telling him to help this girl, who ends up being the princess of Capella... I do believe that God uses dreams to help guide us sometimes, I've had one myself before.
Invasion of the Killer Locust is the sixth book in the Daystar Voyages series from Christian authors Gilbert Morris and Dan Meeks.
This maybe the weakest of the books in the series so far, despite having one of the most interesting plot lines.
The planet Capella has been invaded, by an army of giant space insects. But are these ravenous destroyers really just insects or are they something more intelligent?
That is what the Space Rangers have to determine.
Like I said interesting plot. It's like Ender's game without all of the moral arguing over who has more of a right to live. The space rangers never doubt that the preservation of human life is their ultimate directive.
To bad the plot took a back seat to the love quadrangle brewing among the teenage crew. Why is this: religious, middle grade, sci-fi, action, adventure, lunch break escape, infused with mushy teenage angst, of everyone has a crush on the wrong person sub plots? I get enough of this from secular fiction. So I really hope the next four books are a lot better.
The second reason that this book is the weakest is the glaring continuity error in the first few chapters. It's almost as if this adventure was meant to come after book four, But at some point before publication the order was changed and not all of the discrepancies were caught.
Still if you've made it this far, you are halfway done with the series. May as well press on.
