Shamans and elders of every tradition have retold their wisdom through storytelling and this book is a collection of teaching stories from Christian, Buddhist, Hindi, Sufi, Zen, Chassid, Native American, African and other sources.
Some great stories and parables in this book. A very nice collection. Some were laugh out loud funny, some were classics. I liked that some were Buddhist, others Jewish or Christian. Some Native American and Rumi made it in there. I enjoyed this book.
This is an eclectic collection of spiritual stories from numerous different times and traditions. The stories are entertaining; some (a few) of them are difficult to comprehend. Many of the stories are familiar to those who have read material from some of these traditions.
I read this book when I was 20 or 21 > I had just gone through a very difficult time in my life. This book....it was amazing. Stories of different religeons and teachings from around the world. It makes you think of life and have a different perspective. It was not very popular. But it definately helped me get thru somethings. And see the light.....
I was surprised to find several excerpts from "The Education of Little Tree". It puts Forrest Carter's book in a new light. "Stories" is out of print but a classic in its genre. Buy a used copy while you can.
