Rate this book
Why is it that we trust Jesus with our salvation but never fully trust him with our lives? God longs to unleash his full measure of power in our lives to fill us with passion and purpose. But too often the things of our past―fear, anger, bitterness, worry and doubt―hold us back. Rather than focusing on the reality of who Christ is and what he has done for us, we allow ourselves to be identified by all the things we aren’t. But we are not who our past says we are, and we are not who the enemy says we are. We are who God and his Word say that we are.

Pastor Perry Noble challenges all followers of Christ to make a bold move by fully embracing the exciting adventure God has called us to. Are you ready to unleash all the life he has created you to live? Join Perry on this journey as he digs into the major barriers holding people back and shows how Jesus calls and equips his followers to experience a life most of us never dreamed possible.

This book was okay - its not for the seasoned Christian, but for beginners. It's not a bad book, it was just very simple. at the core of the book, oddly enough, is reformed theology, which I found refreshing. When you read the title you think, "great another book about how to have your best life now." But I knew that Perry Noble was not a subscriber to those doctrines, so I went for it. A great little book to give to new believers in your church.

My Thoughts About the Book: Everyone loves a promise – especially when it is a promise of something good. And with the sharing of a promise there is that anxious expectation during the waiting for the promise to be fulfilled.

Well, Perry Noble in his book Unleash shares his answer to the statement “There’s Got to Be More To Life Than This,” and his answer is a resounding “YES” there is more to life than this…there is the promise of God through his son Jesus Christ that we can live a full, satisfying and abundant life now, here in this world, if we will only allow God to work in us and through us what he desires. But it gets even better. Not only do we have the promise of the possibility of living an abundant life now we also have the hope of eternal life which is unimaginably far better than anything we experience here on earth. And that is pretty awesome!

Author Noble wants us to become unleashed…to be set free and no longer bound to the old way of thinking and living such as being in bondage to “The Performance Trap,” or “The Past” and all of its shame and guilt. No, as author Perry writes, “God wants to hear us laugh. He is after our joy.” And in order for us to experience joy and an unleashed life in the present we have to learn how to let go of the things in our past that once defined us, and we do that through faith in Christ and by his supernatural help. And he does not write only about what some might refer to as “pie in the sky bye and bye” “tiptoeing through the tulips” with no suffering or pain on our way to Heaven as disciples of Christ. He writes that we will experience tragedy as believers in our lives but through Christ we can triumph over our tragedy and be more of the people Christ has saved us to be as a result.

After the chapter’s “Triumph over Tragedy” and “More Than We Can Handle” he reveals what the next steps are for us in our lives to live unleashed God-honoring lives. His book contains vast amount of Scriptures as well as personal life stories to help us as the reader know that an unleashed life is not only available but that it is also possible. Because I’m a people sort of person I like Chapter 9 where he writes about the fact that we can not do this thing called life or the Christian life alone…we need Christ but as the Scriptures and life experience shows us, we need one another. We need the help and encouragement and sometimes the rebuke of another brother or sister in Christ to help us see that we are not living as Christ intends for us and that we need to be “unleashed” from whatever the sin or struggle is and move forward to living and enjoying the life that God created us for and that is an “Unleashed” life of love, joy, hope and freedom in Christ.

From a local South Carolina pastor comes a very practical and down-to-earth book on how to live a life that is meaningful while overcoming the negative influences in your life. Pastor Perry gives you lots of personal and humorous but poignant illustrations, many based upon personal experiences that will make you smile but also think about how it might apply in your life to see your potential by following Christ.

Realistic and earnest. Unpacks the questions we have while asking us to examine the motives in our hearts from which they spring and the underlying motive of God to use the challenges to free us in Him. Excerpts: "I did all the right things. I followed all the rules. I bowed down to the religious idol of performance. I loved Jesus is my head and all the while I hadnt fully trusted my heart to Him. As a result, I wasn't free to love Him with everything I had." "If you're holding on to bitterness and unforgiveness, then you might as well be hitting the brakes on the unleashed life. I believe God is telling us...,fix your eyes on me. Trust me. Believe that I will take care of you. Stop hitting the brakes. It's only when we let go of our hurt and release it to our heavenly Father that we will feel the thrill and freedom of the downhill ride." "There's something striking about the challenges David faced over the course of his life. These difficulties (like fending off wild animals that came after his sheep) werent punishments from God. They were the training ground for what God would call him to do in the future. As was the case in David's life, many times what we view as some sort of punishment from God is actually His way of preparing us for something far beyond what we can comprehend."

Unleash is a inspirational book that compels Christians to let go what is holding them back from living the full life that God wants us to through Jesus. The author tells some powerful Christian truths through humorous and heartwarming stories as well as practical steps to take in applying the truths to our Christian walk. Perry Noble also has a way with words and the way he teaches does not convict you, but encourages you to take the next step with Christ as well as to grow closer in our relationship with God through trust, devotion, and obedience. I normally don’t read books like this or from pastors of mega-churches because I find them to be proud people who promise that if you give your life to Christ, you will have a great life, however, I found that this book and author was very realistic and humble. I did not see any evidence that this author was proud and everything he wrote about seemed to be more realistic. After reading this book, it made me wonder what God has in store for my life and I can’t wait to find out.

Not a bad first book. If you're looking for a ground-shaking, future classic, this isn't it. I LOVE hearing Perry Noble speak live. It's raw, unedited and real, with a huge dose of humor and honesty. His writing is obviously censored and edited to make his message-deliver more palpable to the general audience. It softens the impact of what he has to say.

The book didn't feel like a coherent whole that lead to the explanation of the title. Many times, Perry would share a great insight and say it would help us live lives that were Unleashed, but it never really focused in on unleashed. It felt like each chapter was a different message he'd preached before and just compiled them into this book. Each chapter had illustrative stories and 3-4 points, just like a message. Not saying that as a criticism, just an observation.

It's an easy and fun read with some great nuggets. You'll definitely want a pen/highlighter as you read.

My husband got me hooked on Perry Noble's sermons at Newspring last year and we were both thrilled to learn that he had written his own book. If you've ever listened to Perry Noble preach before, you can definitely pick up his sense of humor and story-telling in this book.

Unleash! is a quick read that I found very enjoyable and encouraging. If my copy weren't from the library I know I would have several sections highlighted in different colors with notes along the page. There were so many things that jumped into my mind as I was reading that I knew were areas of my own life that could relate.

Great book!

This book to me was all over the place. It seemed to not really have a full purpose. Not what I have come to expect from Noble. It seemed he had a few good ideas throughout but they became muddled from all the side thoughts that had nothing to do with the theme of the book. I always try to find one takeaway from every book I read and this one was a quote he had on NFL draft and how teams are willing to pay a big price for a player they really want, but how much bigger of a price to be paid than giving up your life.

First of all, I have to say I LOVE listening to Andy Stanley’s sermons (as well as his father, Paul) so if he puts his stamp of approval on Unleash! (he wrote the foreword) then I knew it would be good.

Unleash! is an interesting and encouraging read. It contains a wealth of wisdom that helps us identify the things that hamper the blessings God has in store for you. We have so many things that serve as barriers in the life God meant for us to have. If we don’t want ho-hum, so-so lives—then we need to unleash!

I recommend this book if you need a fire lit under your bum. ☺

If you're wavering in your walk with Christ or thinking about giving up all-together, "Unleash!" is the book for you. So much encouragement to not give up because God has not given up on you. One of my favorite quotes from the book was:

"Procrastination is assassination on the amazing future God has in store for you."

Also don't skip the epilogue "Hold On to Your Fork"...if your from the south, those parting thoughts will resonate with you!

Perry's made a reputation for engaging evangelistic messages that appeal to people who have been turned off by church. This book does something surprising: It leads you on a journey about what life as a Christian really looks like, and makes it clear that asking Jesus into your life has real consequences in your life and relationships. This is a GREAT book to give to someone still checking out Christianity or who has taken their first steps in faith.

I just finished reading a this book which explains how to have an Unleashed Life by following Jesus, it was so inspiring, and my favorite part was about how though we may quit, give up on or walk away from our relationship with God, He never gives up on us and there is so much proof of that throughout the bible, examples Mark, Peter, David and they all wrote gospels in out bible, so is this not enough proof that He will not give up on you? Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

I am really impressed about how the author is Honest about himself . The honesty of the Author is the reason I gave 3 starts , if you are looking for a honest book , here you go .
In some area we may see repeated sentences or concept from the author . May plus 5 pages are only scriptures for supporting his concept . In general is easy to read and smooth to follow the author . I received this book as a gift . I definitely recommend one time reading this book .

This book has the potential to help Christians in need of guidance. Perry Noble analyzes a hand-full of stories from the Bible that we all know and puts said stories in a new perspective that we can apply to our own lives. Mr. Noble also makes a point of humbling himself throughout the book which is very refreshing to see from a minister. He lets his audience see that he is coming from a place of genuine empathy because he has truly "been there, done that."

I enjoyed this book. I don't agree with Perry's take on forgiveness, though. Forgiveness is a decision, an act of the will where we release someone from the debt they owe us. When the emotions re-surface, we can remind ourselves that we have forgiven them and allow our emotions time to catch up with our decision. I would recommend this book - it's a good, light read.

This has got to be one of my favorite Christian books to date! Anyone who has ever felt powerless against life's struggles (and who hasn't), or been hurt by someone or a situation in the church (and who hasn't), or who has felt like giving up on Christianity (and who hasn't) MUST read this book. "Hold on to your fork..." :D

I just don't understand why slap a Christian label on yet another self-help book. Mr Noble seems to think that if your convictions are different than his or normal then you are in the wrong even if they line up with scriptures. This book was more about his story than it was about following Christ.
