The English Careys and the Scottish Kers have been feuding for many years now, but when Elsbeth Ker has Alex Carey abducted in retaliation for her father's death, the two antagonists begin to find common ground.
A vivid, sometimes humorous and sometimes emotional romance about lovers from feuding families. I loved how Elsbeth and Alex came to care for each other, and the external plot about discovering the traitor in the Ker clan and bringing peace to the borderlands was compelling and strong, even if the conclusion felt a little too neatly wrapped up.

Mais um romance baseado na rivalidade Escócia e Ingleterrra, dessa vez, a mocinha, chefe do Clã, ordena do sequestro do Lorde inglês como reparação e vingança.
As faíscas logo explodem, e entre sequestros, road trips e planos infalíveis, eles acabam se envolvendo, é um bom livro, bem escrito e com personagens bem trabalhados. O mistério se mantém bem até o final.
Não tem nenhuma grande novidade dentre os romances que já foram escritos com essa temática, mas consegue entreter e é muito bem escrito.

Having read some of the actual historical stuff about the the clashes between the English and the Scottish highlanders, this book was really a good fiction narrative of that time in history. Highly recommend if you enjoy Scottish romances/historicals.

This book was short and sweet. Cute story and I love the MCs. It got a bit boring toward the end, but overall good.

This book is Patricia Potter's first Scottish historical romance - and frankly, it shows. At an early point in the book, I found the traitor to be blindingly obvious.
This is an interesting story but the dialogue dragged at times and the build-up to the final confrontation seemed to last forever. However, Potter did one thing very well - she offered a long enough ending to tie up several loose ends. Sometimes, Potter rushes the last few pages, as if she can't wait to finish the story.
Alex and Elsbeth are star-crossed lovers; each from an opposing, hostile clan. These two main characters lacked the sparkle and well-developed characterizations of other Potter novels.
Patricia Potter published five books in 1991 (Lawless, Island of Dreams, The Abduction, Rainbow, and The Greatest Gift. Perhaps this is why this book wasn't one of her best; however, Lawless was super!

This book was mildly interesting. I only read it on a bet, but by about a third of the way through I (to my shame) started to actually be interested in the story. It's actually kind of a decent read and if you're into to romance novels you'll probably enjoy it, but the ending drove me absolutely crazy. Seriously, I've never come across more blatant plot manipulation in my life. It's like the author just totally disregarded all semblance of realism just so she could have a palatable ending. Blugh.
