Guilt was a foreign emotion to Voss.
Until the night his gut told him he needed to help a woman walking alone at night, but he didn’t.
Only to come back and find that the worst had come to pass.

Determined to make it up to her, he takes her in, helps her heal, protects her, and vows to make it right.

He never expected to start to have feelings for her.
Or that the threat was so much closer than either of them could have anticipated…

This is, once again, an action-packed, fast-paced page-turner in my all-time favorite MC romance series.
Henchmen MC and Navesink Bank town is an incredible fascinating Universe created completely by the author for her amazing series.
Not just this one, but many more.

MC biker clubs are everywhere, but Henchmen MC is a legend.
Loyal man with respect to rules, respect to women, and club members.
The next generation is what's it sounds like. The second generation of Henchmen bikers, the kids and their brothers that make their family proud. They are bound by loyalty and honor. That life by the rules of their fathers.

Voss is not one of the children of the old MC members.
He's a "new blood."
He's someone who never knew what a loving family meant.
The club members and his MC brothers are his first real family.
A family that he learned to trust and care about. A family that loves him for who he's and will do anything for him.

Sylvie is a great girl with a colorful past. With beautiful childhood with her mom and adventurous with her dad. Syl, with her big heart and honest nature, with dramatic events from her life after her parents died, that might be the reason why she's who she is today.

Two people from different worlds that shouldn't work together but are perfect for each other.

I love this book. I love Jessica's writing style. I love all these wonderful characters and I hope Sully's book will be next 😉

The author always makes the women in this series so interesting. Sylvie is the only female working at a halfway house. She loves her job even if it does come with some risks from the men who relapse, and she has to ask them to leave.

Both Voss and Sylvie had childhoods that left them emotionally closed. Its always fun to see two people that dont have a romantic bone in their bodies fall in love despite that.

The junkyard dog gets his girl.

I have loved Voss' character since he first appeared with Valen. He has shown his understanding of the club, fighting with Dezi when he needed it, rescued the rottie from the yard and all before we get his story.
In a not dissimilar vein to Dezi, his heroine had to be a strong female, who wouldn't be put off by Voss' growl, and Syl definitely fits the bill.
Add in their back stories, the other henchmen, the girls club, the sober house characters and teasers for Hope & A's story. What more could a reader possibly want?
Well worth the wait!

It’s been awhile since I’ve read a Jessica Gadziala book, I took a long break since he books had gotten a bit boring and formulaic. This one wasn’t any different unfortunately, it had the same basic cookie cutter story and nothing too unique about the main characters. I use to love he books, she use to have characters with unique and different personalities that you saw throughout series, but now I can’t even remember who is with who, let alone any specific characteristic about them.
This book at the typical editing and continuity issues that she’s always had in her books. I know she cranks them out fast, but for as many as she puts out I wish she’d spend just a little extra time and money on a really good editor that would catch these things. Or even change up her beta readers that don’t seem to catch these major issues.

I have more of her books I’ve not read, so I’ll probably read those at some point, but I think I’m done buying knew books from her unless she finishes up a few series she’s left on hold for too long. I know she just release the find book in the Rivers Brothers series, so depending on reviews I might but that one. But I’m not really interested in starting new/more series by an author/any author who has multiple unfinished series that they don’t have a plan to finish. This specific issues has been coming up a bit recently in the reading community as it frustrates readers.

ETA: Another reader summed up this series as “small town romance” and that fits so much better than MC romance. Her older books are darker and more focused on the MC or seedier side of NB.

Raise your hand if you’re stunned that this was another winner from NBU? Because I have my hand FIRMLY down. I adored Syl & Voss so much!! And as always, everyone knew before they did that they were an item.
There are a few secondary characters that are new to us & I hope we get stores from too, someday!
But I’m glad to be “home” in New Jersey!!

really enjoyed this story

Mikey likes it. It’s me I’m Mikey the sometimes hard to please …but I really liked this. First and foremost these feel like real people. She’s got a job at a rehab house, a place where people try to be sober (some harder than others.) the writing is great, we’re at the halfway house and it’s so real. And she’s so tired. Typical life and struggle thoughts in our heroines head. And her biker. He’s cool. But not too cool if you know what I mean? He’s real. Can even have doubts himself. Nothing is certain in life.
I’d also like to point out that when series continue or last through generations sometimes things get reductive or repetitive - not here and certainly not boring. Yay.

I Enjoyed It

Voss is adorable. I love his personality. He’s shy yet intimidating and takes what he wants. Honestly, the perfect man in my opinion. Syl is cute and has a great personality too with a kind heart. There were just some issues with the way this book flowed for me. It felt choppy at times. Or the writing was in the wrong past tense or present tense. It was odd. Overall though, it was cute. I liked it.

It's a pretty good story. I've read so many of her books now, a lot of her characters are very similar, speak and act the same.

Voss is the 8th book from the Henchmen MC: Next Generation series by Jessica Gadziala. This book was really a lesson in kindness that everyone should learn. Of course, that act of kindness was out of guilt and led to a romance but what else can you expect from a MC book? We meet some new prospects that have joined the club. I think they got a Dezi 2.0 in Sully just with Hawaiian shirts and rom-coms instead of sugary desserts and pets. There is definitely a story with this one.
This story is about the mysterious Voss who showed up in town when Valen came home. We've read about him in a couple of books now and he's always been the quiet dangerous one just watching everything. I really thought he would have a darker backstory than he actually did. He meets Sylvie who works at the Barlowe house which is a halfway house for recovering addicts when she is walking down a dark street in a bad neighborhood because her car broke down again. She declined a ride from Voss who just wanted to help her out and that was a mistake. When Voss's gut instinct said to go back and look for her he found her badly hurt on the side of the road. Feeling guilty for leaving her there for her to get hurt he decides she's going to stay at the clubhouse to recover while he finds out who did it. Sylvie didn't have a very nice childhood either after her mother died. Her dad was a long-haul trucker and she lived on the road with him meeting some very unsavory people along the way and some people she thought were good. The club took her in as one of their own immediately, especially the girls club! Hope actually puts a dress on in this book! The longer Syl is at the clubhouse the closer she gets to Voss. He actually opens up to her and they fall in love. Syl just never realized there are people from her past that want her for themselves. Thanks to Voss going to Junior for help they are able to save her and get rid of the trouble. The epilogue was awesome just like all of Jessica Gadzialas are and spanned over a 12-year period.
I gave this book a 4-star rating and a 3-spicy rating. This book was sad, funny, loving, and had kindness at its best and the side of violence was a plus. It wasn't as steamy as I'm used to these books being but it didn't take from the story at all. Junior is definitely his parent's child, a perfect mix of them both and just as dangerous. I do hope we get a book about him and maybe a certain barista is his one. And I love Sully. I want him to be my best friend. He's hiding a lot you can tell from this book and I can't wait to hear it. If Hope wasn't already taken I'd say he'd be a match for her but for some reason, I keep thinking of Willa. I can't wait to find out which book is next and whose story we are going to get. Their's so many left in the second generation I want to know more about.

Genre & Tropes : Romance Contempo x Bikers x Stalker plot x Dark and sad past x Forced proximity x Spicy

PS3 : j'ADORE Sully !

A biker romance that I read with great pleasure !

I was curious to read the romance with Voss, who is super secretive, and I loved seeing him transform into a white knight (okay, dark gray xD) for Sylvie, who was so cute (and what a horrible childhood ...) ! I found it so interesting to discover Sylvie's work, and the plot with her stalker was super horrific and twisted ><

In short, a biker romance to devour without moderation ! It's a little darker than other books in this series, but I really liked it !

PS : I had already read the book with Hope, which is one of my favorites, so I loved seeing that it took place at the same time, and I totally recommend reading Of Snakes and Men !

PS2 : It really made me want to read the one with Billie =D

PS3 : I LOVE Sully !

I like this book and think Sylvie is a sweetheart. Voss is a good leading man and I enjoyed learning his background and thereby understanding more about why he is quiet and standoffish. We discover that Sylvie's childhood wasn't the best either, so it makes sense that she and Voss have such a strong connection.

What I don't necessarily like is the large number of different secondary characters. It's getting difficult to keep up with who all these kids are and how some of them are related. I've read all of JG's series, so I know a number of the kids (now adults) are the original Henchmen's children and some are children from the other series that take place in Navesink Bank (Mallick Bros., Dark, Scars, Savages, etc.). Throw in the additional brand new characters and it's very confusing. I've attempted to make a chart to keep up with who is who, sadly it's exhausting and too much work to relax and read a book. On top of that, the new releases keep switching from one series to the next making it harder to remember what happened the last time we visited each particular series. Plus, there are still characters from the very beginning who never even got their books. Confusing right?! I guess if you go into this book (or any of them for that matter) with the intention of reading only the story itself and not caring about the secondary characters or anyone's background it'd be a lot easier to read.

EDIT: I DISCOVERED THIS FAMILY TREE ON JESSICA'S WEBSITE WHICH IS HELPFUL: https://jessicagadziala.com/family-tr...

Overall, I actually did like this story. JG always manages to come up with a new idea and story line for the characters to meet and fall in love.

Voss

Big Viking biker MMC and she works at a halfway house for people with addiction.  He literally meets her on the side of the road.  Most of this author's MMCs have top of the food chain energy, and this MMC is one of the guys who doesn't use many words either.

“I was worried about you all day, thinking you were off… having, you know, like a breakdown all alone.”

“A breakdown?” he asked, rolling his eyes.

“Well, you know, a manly breakdown,” I clarified, getting a little snorting laugh out of him.

He's also one of the MMCs with a really abusive past.  It had me wondering why some men carry on a legacy of bullying and abuse and others don't. I certainly appreciate being able to read countless examples of men who are aware and have empathy - who have chosen not to be horrible.

Even after reading 80 books by this author, she still writes some lines that reverberate when I read them.

“I think a lot of guys do shit without realizing that their actions are predatory, and that men are women’s only real natural predator. So it scares the shit out of us, while they think they are just being flirty.”

It's that line about “men are women’s only real natural predator” that stopped me in my tracks.  We're such a fucked up species.  It's a wonder there are so many of us on the planet.  A lot of the cause is the male privilege of obliviousness. They don't have to be aware of the harm they cause. Or they willfully carry on a legacy of abuse. But these books (and the whole romance genre) are endlessly hopeful.

Voss & Sylvie

These Henchmen, man, they are amazing! I absolutely adore their gruff yet sweet personalities! Sylvie fits perfectly into the fold of princesses & other women, too. She makes fast friends with new prospect, Sully, and I LOVE these two together! Really looking forward to his story, whenever it comes about!

Voss has a heart so full of love and loyalty, it balances well with his BA Henchmen-ness. 😁 He trusts his gut, which leads him to Sylvie, and through him & the club, Sylvie is led to the large family she needs.

Great relationships, suspense, and just the right amount of 🔥! Voss is definitely on my favorites shelf!

A good story for Voss and Sylvie

Who knew that Voss could be so attentive and driven? It’s a beautiful thing. I have read all the original Henchmen books and they are some of my most favorites. The princesses are terrific. I’m not sure whose who for the daughters but I am glad that they are smart and tough women. The female lead is a strong willed woman too. Her past is filled with struggles but she succeeded despite the road blocks. Voss finds Sylvie in a heap on the side of the road, where he gets off his bike to help this unknown woman. Their journey begins there. . . . Bonus points for the multiple epilogues at the end. . . Read On!

STRONG STORYTELLING!

The circumstances that brought Voss and Sylvie together were vicious....someone attacked her and beat her senseless. Voss found her and took her to the clubhouse on her release from hospital. The guys all take her under their wings especially Voss who is actively searching for the guy who did this. Voss realizes he is falling for Sylvie and vice versa!

LOVED these new characters!

Voss the big quiet one

Voss is the quiet one of the Henchmen but insightful. He has a feeling things are not what they seem when he finds Syl and so he becomes very protective of her. And with all the Henchmen before him figures out she is a definite part of his future. Jessica G writes amazing stories with action and HEA.

A little sweet and a lot of strong

Fantastic read. Adorable characters that were easy to fall in love with. I feel like Voss and Sylvie were like M&M's, hard exteriors and sweet and soft inside.
The side characters in Jessica's books always add that little bit extra sweetness and leave me wanting more. This one was no different and I'm all intrigued by what's to come.

Another smash hit

Another great addition to the Henchmen family.
Syl and Voss were amazing. Loved their story. We got to meet Sully,( love his shirts) and it seems like a new Texas Henchmen sister club might be coming, what with the whole "ranch" thing that Sutton has going on....and a little teaser of Hope and A...can't wait. Jessica, you are spoiling us. I love it💜

Favorite couple

I really enjoyed reading about Voss and Sylvie. They're both very interesting with their personalities and their banter. Voss had a tough childhood and Sylvie is grotto help people like her father. They have no idea she has a crazy creepy stalker causally their problems.

You can never get enough of The Henchmen

Voss got a feeling in his gut that would have him heading back to check on the mystery woman he left on the side of the road. And then after helping her get back in her feet, he kinda fell in love.

Another good Henchman

I enjoyed the book, like I do all of them.

I really liked Sully- he stole the show and would have loved even more.

Voss felt a bit flat to me - and too similar to many of the other Henchmen.

Syl was great though

Wasn’t blown away, but I liked reading about Voss and Sylvia’s story. Like always when I finish a Gadziala book, I need stories on all the other characters that had a feature in this book. (Ahem, Sully, Sutton, Brooks)
