To escape Darkwater Island, located in the middle of a mystical fae sea, Tria and her friends must complete the Challenge, a series of dangerous trials that take place in the magical, ever-changing catacombs beneath the island. With her are Brodin, a hot guy with secrets. Her roommate, Jacey, a fierce friend whose loyalty will be tested. And Akimi, a tree nymph with her own agenda. But working together to complete each challenge isn't the only trial they face. They're also being hunted...
I'm an avid reader of everything romance, though lately, I'm into fantasy, sci-fi, monster, and romcoms. Give me a good book, and I'm your friend for life.
Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
While I enjoy this series, going into this book, I felt like I was missing a book in between. Maybe I need to reread the last book but it was just a bit confusing to me.
I still really like the characters, the relationship between Brodin and Tria was interesting and I liked seeing the progression again. Although I did find Tria a bit frustrating throughout this book. Her back and forth on Brodin and the rest of the Quad was frustrating because I feel she didn’t have a right to question the others (maybe only Brodin).
Akimi threw me off, but I had a feeling towards the end that she was someone else. Same with Kai the cat, he is someone else, I just don’t know who yet, but he makes me suspicious.
Jacey’s chapters were a bit odd to me. I understand why they are there and they began to blend into the story later on but when we first were introduced to her side, it felt interruptive. Glad she got Rohnan back though, that was sweet.
Overall, it was a pretty good book, just felt like I was missing a book in between with some of the information that was in this one.

This new instalment was interesting, we do discover more about the different protagonists and Tria is learning more about darkwater as well. We see more of Jacey past, the relation between Brodin and Tria deepens as they trust each other more and more.
The group is facing lot of challenge some very twisted other quite interesting ones all that while running to avoid being eaten by Titan who wants his revenge.
it was fast paced andwell written even if at the same time i feel something is missing but i can't pinpoint what bother me. Really it's a good story but i would not recommend to read it out of order . Now i can't wait for book 3 and i hope some of the bad one to get what they deserve in this twisted universe where little is as it seems
The more I read this series is I am starting to understand it. It takes your for a few curves than a straight way and than a dead end. You have to back up cause you think you missed something. So you try a different way and you think you finally think you have it down and blown out of the water with some new information. No your head is buzzing and you think you need a drink but you have to keep a straight head to get to the end. But when you get to the end ! !!!!! The next book isn't till Dec. How can I wait
This second book in the Darkwater Reformatory trilogy was an exciting, fun and entertaining read.
Aside from a few typos and grammatical errors, I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Tria, along with her friends, tackling the various tasks within the trials.
I look forward to reading the final book in this wonderful series.
Really exciting, well written, fast paced and engaging story! I absolutely adore her world building here, especially in the Challenge, and shocker of a twist!!!
Thoroughly worthwhile series for all fans of Fantasy and YA
Tria and her friends must face the unknown to try and escape Darkwater Prison. This book was every bit as good as the first one in the series. Mayberry uses plot twists so well to keep you on the edge of your seat through the whole book once again.
Besides being a cliffhanger, the ending was the equivalent of being told the whole thing was a dream. I don't appreciate reading a whole book to end up back at the beginning of book 1.
I just didn’t like this book that much. It felt like it dragged on and honestly, I just didn’t want to read it. I did finish this book but will not be reading the next book in the series.
I didn’t feel like there was very much world building or character development so why would I keep going?
