This is the third in a series of books of the teachings of Presidents of the Church. It was used for personal study and for Melchizedek Priesthood and Relief Society instruction in 2002. It should be a part of every adult member's gospel library.
Harold B. Lee was born on March 28, 1899, in Clifton, Idaho. In Idaho and later in Utah, he developed careers in education, business, and government. As president of the Salt Lake Pioneer Stake of the Church during the Great Depression, he initiated a program of self-help and relief that grew into the Welfare System of the Church. After his call to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in 1941, he continued to work with the Welfare Program, which served needy individuals and communities in many countries. He initiated organizational changes to improve the coordination of efforts at Church headquarters and among all Latter-day Saint congregations. These helped the Church prepare for its rapid expansion of members, activities, and influence of the decades which followed. He became President of the Church on July 7, 1972. As Church President, he traveled often and frequently addressed the youth of the Church. After only 18 months as Church President, Harold B. Lee died on December 26, 1973, in Salt Lake City.
A compilation of teachings by Harold B. Lee, an apostle of Jesus Christ and the 11th President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Each chapter is organized topically and there were many edifying quotations. The chapters that were most meaningful to me were those on priesthood, marriage, family, teaching the gospel, revelation, and enduring trials and adversity. The chapters on the Fall and the Atonement of Jesus Christ were also extremely good. It was an edifying book. I know that Harold B. Lee was a prophet of God.
More clarification on Doctrine and a call to live the Gospel to the best of our abilities and strength. Also giving his Prophetic Testimony of Jesus Christ and His Eternal mission.
This is the 3rd in the series of "Presidents." I gave some lessons for High Priests class out of this lesson book. President Lee is one president I was old enough to remember. In fact, he signed my mission call to Argentina South Mission. He is from the area of Idaho that my Dad's family came from. He had a lot to do with correlation in the Church and the welfare plan. He was a true prophet of God.
Harold B. Lee was a great man. Even though he was only president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for a short time, he left a huge impact. This book contains many of his teachings on different subjects.
I tried to add this book but they didn't let me because they said the ISBN number was already taken. Please note that this is NOT the priesthood/relief society manual. This is 678 pages and is hard to find.
This is another great book in a series of biographies of the presidents of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I learned a lot about President Harold B. Lee. I am happy to remember that I met President Harold B. Lee at a conference in SLC a number of years ago.
I met President Lee when I was a girl and remember he spoke to me and then to my mother and little sister. That love I felt from him then was renewed as I read this collection of his teachings. He is so down-to-earth in his counsel that I find it quickly applicable to my life.
As a mother, I liked the chapter about motherhood. I think that anyone that wants to learn more about Harold B. Lee and the LDS church this is a good book.
Another inspiring book in this series. Harold B. Lee was a great prophet and humanitarian. He began what we now call the church's welfare program, which helps first then helps people help themselves--a good model for the nations. He imparts a wonderful testimony of Christ, the restoration of the gospel in the latter days, and the importance of the family.
