As long as you have good friends, you'll never really be lost.
Wombat is back in a followup to the bestselling Sometimes I Like to Curl Up in a Ball . The critically acclaimed artist Charles Fuge joins writer Angela McAllister to create a charmingly illustrated, deeply reassuring tale about getting lost and found again. An endearing little wombat and his friends love playing hide-and-seek--even though Wombat doesn't quite understand all the rules of the game. When it's his turn to seek, he hides once more, then calls out "Two, TEN" and opens his eyes. So Rabbit and Koala suggest he count 10 flowers and then search for them. But Wombat doesn't count the pink blossoms nearby; he wanders far away, over the hill, looking for yellow ones. Suddenly, the little animal realizes he's very, very alone... But you can always depend on friends-and mom--coming to the rescue. Cuddly, sweet-faced, and personality-filled animals in Fuge's inimitable style, plus a comforting story that kids will really empathize with, add up to a winning combination.

This book is insanely cute. The illustrations are absolutely adorable. The main character is a wombat, which I like because it introduces children to an animal they are probably unfamiliar with. In the story, little wombat’s friends are teaching him to play hide and go seek. Little wombat gets lost, it begins raining, and little wombat becomes very sad. The poor little guy hides under a mushroom and cries. Eventually, his mother finds him and all is well again. It is short and simple, but extremely cute and fun to read. I think children would enjoy reading it because most could easily relate to what Wombat is going through. Children would also enjoy reading it because the pictures are so cute it’s impossible to think poorly of this book. The illustrations make me want to go out and hug a fuzzy little wombat!
There are a few themes I might use with this book inside a classroom: friendship, animals, and/or what to do if you get lost. The illustrations are so wonderful that I would probably also use this book to promote art.

"Found You, Little Wombat" by Angela McAllister, is such a sweet story about a little wombat who wonders off during a game of hide and seek with his friends. The poor little wombat gets lost and can't find his way home. As it begins to rain the little wombat seeks cover under a big mushroom and begins to cry. Just then his mother finds him and everything is fine. This story is sweet , simple, and enjoyable. The book is on the shorter side but the illustrations are colorful and nicely done. I think children ages three to seven would enjoy this story. Because it is so simple I think older children would find this book juvenile and too easy to read. I think this is a good story to have an activity with such as what children must do if they become lost , or even an activity about wombats! All in all cute book.
I adore the Little Wombat books! The artwork is wonderful with beautifully drawn animals. Like the other Wombat books, there are great connections that could be made about friendship and rules for playing games, but this one can also be used to discuss what to do when you get lost. These books can also be used to discuss the differences of animals found in Australia. Can you do an Australian accent? Even more fun!
The most adorable illustrations complement this story about Little Wombat playing hide-and-seek with his friends Rabbit and Koala. He gets lost and becomes afraid...but soon realizes he is not alone when he hears a voice that is familiar.
This is very nicely done! I love the pictures and what draws me in is the indigenous Australian animals. All that was missing was a kangaroo and a platypus . This is a great story about taking turns (hide and go seek) and what to do if you are lost. This is a cute book. Made me smile! "-D
This is one of the most requested bedtime stories by my children. A combination of gorgeous illustration and easy and entertaining story line make for an engaging read. It is so rewarding when my children help read the story, and point out different things that they see.
I'm pretty sure I gave this one to Jesse. It's so overly cute. And the pictures were done so well that I almost started crying when I saw Little Wombat crying from being lost!
This was a fun story, but I think it was overshadowed by the great illustrations. For little kids who like hide and seek, this one will be familiar and fun.
