A good introduction, with simple, easy-to-follow recipes. But whatever points they earned by name checking Tampopo are lost by only endorsing the lighter soups. By ignoring the power of tonkotsu ramen, or the rich complexity of miso ramen in favor of the lighter (in color and calories) shoyu soups, they deny the diversity of the ramen universe.

The photos ain't too bad, though.

I like this book. I bought it primarily because I go to the wagamama places once in a while and I wanted to be able to re-create their food.
I haven't physically gone and done that yet, but that's my fault, not the cookbook. The recipes look yummy. I'm just lazy.
