This is a good book for those that like scary books. Its not very scary but it makes you want to keep reading it when you stop on a chapter. It doesnt really get good until about 2-3 chapters. After that it gets pretty good.
The book is about this girl named Jenny and she is an avarage high school girl. She kind of has a bad image of herself. Anyways, she goes to the mall this one night and finds this lost boy named Donny. She helpes find his parents, the Hagens. They end up offering Jenny a job babysitting Donny every thurday and friday night. She ends up doing it.
The Hagens house is clear across town in this kindof creepy neighbor hood. She rides the bus there every night she babysits. She ends up getting these prank phone calls and it scares her pretty bad. She thinks that its this guy named chuck. It ends up he denies ever prank calling her. She doesnt know whether to believe him or not. That really creeped her out. That and the wierd guy from her neighbor hood thats sneaks around by the Hagens house and stuff.
I dont want to give the ending away but you will never guess who is out to get her!

I read these books back in 7th grade and I wanted to reread them in October. They scared me just as much now as they did back then! The writing is very simple as it is written for a younger audience, but man. It scares me. I am dreading/looking forward to rereading books 3 and 4.

Decided to read this series for Halloween and somewhat enjoying it so far, knowing that it would be corny. Part II was definitely more interesting than Part I. I was certain I'd read this back around middle school but reading it now, I'm not so sure I ever got around to it. Nonetheless, it made me nostalgic about Scholastic book fairs and all that.

I was probably about ten or maybe a bit younger when I first read The Babysitter books. Twenty years later and I'm still enthralled with the books.

The name of my book is "The Baby-Sitter by R.L. Stine. My book's genre is fiction. The theme of my book is horror with suspense. My book intrest because of how it started and whats going. on. Im up to page 23 at the moment and theres alot going on. Jenny is a teenager with a babysitting job that she got offered at the mall. Normally you wouldnt find a job at the mall for baby sitting bt as se saw a boy that was lost se got it from his parents when th found him. The boy that was lost had nice blonde hair and he was very nice and bright from when she first met him. His name is donny and he has jenny to babysit him for the first time when his parents go out to dinner and a movie. As she goes to baby sit him on that first night she frightened by te sounds that she hears in the house because of how old the house is. Before the parents left donny's father made a smart comment on how a killer comes around killing and stalking baby-sitters. jenny was scared especially because of the frightning sounds she was hearing.

Dear Charan,

I am reading a book entitled The Baby Sitter by R.L Stine which is a work of mystery/suspense. So far i have read about a teenaged girl, named Jenny, who is asked to take care of a young boy named Donny every thursday and saturday nights. At first she says no but then she realizes that she needs the money so she accepts it. During her first night she freaks out because these strange things are happening. This is where I stopped reading.
I predict that the next door neighbor is trying to keep her away from that house.I predict this because of his actions.

Even as an adult still love this series. The Baby-sitter was the first R.L. Stein book I ever read and it got me hooked.

Felt nostalgic reading this book and The Baby-Sitter II again. Love that they are together in one book.

This book was very interesting. R.L. Stine has always been good at writing books but this one definitely was suspenseful. He always knows how to make you want to keep flipping pages and reading to see what happens next. In the baby sitter a girl accepts a job to babysit a family's son. While babysitting she reads and hears about a psychopath hurting babysitters. She gets freaked out and tries to pass time by doing other things. I would recommend this book to people who like that suspense and even horror genre of books. This one is short and easy to read. It has a ton of climaxes and ups and downs through out the whole book. I enjoyed this book very much and really recommend to R.L. Stine fans and any fans of that genre!
