Though lacking much authentic Welsh blood, Kim Lawrence comes from English-Irish stock. She was born and brought up in North Wales. She returned there when she married, and her sons were both born on Anglesey, an island off the coast. Though not isolated, Anglesey is a little off the beaten track, but lively Dublin, which Kim loves, is only a short ferry ride away. Today they live on the farm her husband was brought up on. Welsh is the first language of many people in this area and Kim's husband and sons are all bilingual she is having a lot of fun, not to mention a few headaches, trying to learn the language! She is a keen gardener and cook and enjoys running often on the beach, as living on an island the sea is never very far away. She is usually accompanied by her Jack Russell, Sprout don't ask, it's long story!

With small children, the unsocial hours of nursing didn't look attractive so encouraged by a husband who thinks she can do anything she sets her mind to, Kim tried her hand at writing. Always a keen Mills & Boon reader, it seemed natural for her to write a romance novel. In 1995, she published her first novels and now she can't imagine doing anything else.

For some reason, what Lynne Graham can get away with, Kim Lawerence cannot. LG can charm me into liking a big misunderstanding story and KL can't.

The heroine is this story is a red-haired virgin who thinks she is in love with the hero’s brother-in-law. He’s the childhood friend who got away. The hero is an Italian tycoon who was in a tragic car accident that killed his parents and left him with scars on his leg. Since then he has been protective of his younger sister who married when she was 19. The only other thing the heroine knows about him – besides that he’s hot – was that he was named in a high profile divorce between a beautiful Italian socialite and a politician.

The entire conflict between these two centers around one misunderstanding after another. And it’s the heroine’s insecurities that drive most of the misunderstandings.

First the hero thinks she’s trying to break up his sister’s marriage, but quickly realizes heroine is attracted to him. She runs back to London, and doesn’t want him to help her with her flat tire. He helps her, but the next day she says she doesn’t ever want to see him again, etc. . .

When they finally give into to their attraction, the heroine wants to keep their sexual affair a secret, thinking that’s what the hero would want. Then after one of their endlessly stupid arguments, she breaks it off before he can break it off with her.

*sigh *

I swear this about where my brain broke and my patience wore off. Now the heroine is pregnant and has told her mother, but has no plans to tell the hero because she doesn’t want to trap the man she loves or take money from him and you know the drill. Single mom in poverty is noble – or something.

The hero decides to fight for his gal and shows up at her flat at the same time the heroine’s parents are descending on her. The hero has to overhear the h is pregnant from her father indignantly wondering where the man is in all of this.

They marry. The heroine is jealous that the woman from the divorce case is there. She puts two and two together to make mistress. The hero is jealous of the heroine speaking to his brother-in-law.

The hero has some important meeting that he must attend while on his honeymoon – I wasn’t paying much attention at this point because I was so ANNOYED with both of them. The heroine marches into the conference holding a baby she was supposed to be watching and throws a drink in the hero’s face.

Nice.

They sort it out because the hero loves her spunk and feisty ways. And the servants just thinks this little harpy is the cat’s meow. Right. She is beyond annoying and I don’t see why the hero put up with her OTT antics.

This is a case of being happy the hero is happy, because he deserves a better heroine.

Sam Maguire is a woman crazy in love with her friend Johny. But Johny is married to Alessandro Di Livio's sister. Our hero Alessandro knows Sam is infatuated with Johny and he is determined to keep Sam away from his sister's husband. He doesn't plan to seduce the heroine but they have a one night stand that turns into an affair and Sam discovers she is pregnant.

The hero wants to marry her but there are many misunderstandings. Alessandro thinks Sam is still in love with Johny and Sam believes Alessandro wants an open marriage and is having an affair with the gorgeous Marisa.

Sam! I love her as a character and if I could have a character girl crush it would be on her. I absofuckinglutely loved her– she is awesome! She’s funny, strong, determined and vulnerable. I loved that she stepped outside her comfort zone, figured out what she really wanted and went after it.

The hero was amazing. There is so much more to him than his playboy image and Sam gets to learn all about it. He's hot and he's complex. He's wonderful and loving.I loved Alessandro. He is a beautiful tortured soul, he has secrets that he holds on to but he realizes that the only thing that can save him is Sam and her unconditional love for him..

It was amazing watching Sam and Alessandro find each other and so fun to watch them fall. There were bumps along the way that I was really nervous about, but I kept hope that each could see through the craziness and still want each other! They have that red hot, jump off the pages chemistry between them and I couldn't wait for their HEA.

I really loved this book. As soon as I finished it, I desperately wanted to read it again!!

Wow, talk about getting it wrong!!!!!!

Alessandro Di Livio is a rich, handsome uber alpha Italian who believes that there is something between Sam and her close friend Jonny who happens to be married to his sister.

Deciding to seduce Sam for one night to ensure his sister’s happiness, he’s in for a big surprise. Sam is no gold-digger baby – she’s a gorgeous, funny, charming, passionate but a VIRGIN!!! How did he get that so wrong???

Anyway, as with such misunderstandings, Sam finds herself pregnant and presto….Alessandro wants to marry her!!! But this is no bimbo pushover gal…

She may be in love with the gorgeous Italian billionaire but she’s not interested in his billions only in him loving her and their baby. She’s not prepared to be married to a man who feels he was forced into marrying her. And of course, there’s the bitch Marisa who has her claws into Alessandro….no way is this acceptable and I so totally agree Sam.

I loved the characters, Sam most of all. Good storyline.

In the end, all is revealed and Alessandro finally shares his “dark” secret and how much he loves Sam. Hurrah!!!

I really enjoyed this HEA.

Okay, okay, okay.

This had some of the tropes I love: hero in love/lust unbeknownst to his own self, scatty heroine, okay that's pretty much it.

There was just too much resistance from the heroine. And the hero. He's a total rotter to borrow a British term, but does that prevent her from falling in bed with him? I am not going to answer that.

There are some cute good times, and the author makes it very obvious they are batty for each other. I'm on an anglophile roll, okay, Downton Abbey's over and this is all I have.

I think my favorite moment is when the H sees her mother bump into whatever Italian snazzy car he drives and gets upset about the car. Cute moment!

It was cute and funny.
There's not much to say, but it was fun and not ansgty at all.
There are two misunderstandings, about om and ow.
The heroine was in love with hero's bil. He thinks the heroine has an affair with him and threatens her.
The heroine is not a loser, she's a career woman, with money and friends, but she's a mess about her feelings.
She has something of a leftover crush on the hero's bil, but as soon as she starts interacting with the hero she's attracted to him in a way she never was with om.
He helps her when her car breaks down, they spend one night in one of his houses and they become lovers.
The heroine wants them to meet secretly, because he's a notorious womanizer or so she thinks, and they have an affair for some months.
They have a quarrel because of om, and they break up.
The hero comes back some weeks later with a ring and a proposal, but before he can asks her to marry him, he finds out she's pregnant and tells her they have to marry for the child.
The heroine is not very sure, but eventually they get married.
There's a would be ow but she never was and isn't the hero's mistress. And she's also nice and not evil at all.
Om is more a brother that a lover.
Not much angst, there are some very funny and exhilarating scenes, but the book was a good time reading.
The heroine is very nice and the hero is besotted and is the one who comes back to her with the proposal.
I loved how they are together, he's a lil bit nasty in the beginning when he thinks she's having an affair with om, but the heroine is not a doormat and he understands very soon he is in love with her.

Brilliant. Charming. Banter/dialogue to die-for! I loved both the heroine and hero. Really fabulous characters.

I found myself laughing and smiling and nodding my head as I read this. Will definitely become a favorite re-read.

ADORE!

Grade: A+

Why have I not read a lot of Kim Lawrence? Does she have more awesome books like this? Must find out! Recommendations welcome!

"The Italian's Wedding Ultimatum" is the story of Sam and Alessandro.

The h has forever been in love with her best friend, who recently married another woman. Wallowing in her self pity, she never expects to be labelled as a home wrecker by the H, the OW's brother, or find herself in lust with him! Thus begins an unlikely courtship between MCs who are insanely attracted to each other- a confused, expressive and honest h and a scarred, protective and jealous H. Loads of drama, humor, accusations, sexy lovemaking, fertilization, confessions and banter later, they get their HEA.

Very likable MCs and a lovely read! Heavily recommended!

Love at first sight for, Alessandro, the hero. Sam, the h, was quirky and funny. That scene when Sam-with a crying baby on her hip- gatecrashed a high level function, only to end up throwing a glass of red at Alessandro's face was beyond hilarious. 😂😂😂

Cute and sassy...with an adorable heroine and a very likable hero.

I struggle sometime with Kim Lawrence's stories. thus the 3 star rating. I feel she skims the surface and moves the plot forward too quickly. I find myself saying wait how did they get here? To me that takes away a bit from the story. It lacks the usual simmering depth I have come to expect from an HP.

But if you are looking for something light, quick and fun..this one should work for you.

I normally rate higher than that but this story ughhhh
2* because the flow of the story and also the part where h and H were supposed to fall in love ? where? I was like huh? I kept asking are there some chapters missing in between? I love how the story started and thats it! Before reading this book I read The Morning After again, i think that book completely overshadowed this book. It happens, would give another try later on though.....

Opinión personal:
Historia fresca y corta.

Everyone of KL’s books that I read have great plot, excellent, funny dialogue, heroine With spines (although they melt to goo with their H), but most have just missed, they lacked emotion. This story gets it right. Plot, humor, characters, dialogue AND character development and emotional connection.

Our h had to overcome a serious problem with too-low expectations and sense of worth and H had to get over mistrust and realize he loved as much as lusted.

Reread, still liked but the h and H make themselves miserable by not admitting to each other that they love them. That drives me crazy in HP. Plus too much arguing.

Gahh the h was so childish I just wanted to slap some grow up into her...
I understand that was just her personality and she definitely stood true to it for the entire story but I just couldn't see how the H being older and way broody was able to put up with it and see through all the sarcasm and sass... To each their own!!

I kind of enjoyed this book. The h is rather emotional and a little flighty but she gives the H a run for his money by seeing him by what she thinks are his dating rules.

They've met because the H's sister married the h's male bestie that she grew up with and thinks she's in love with. However, the OM is oblivious and is in genuine love with his wife.

The H notices the h pining for the OM and is cheesed off because he would quite like the h to look at him like that and when he calls her on her mooning over the OM she is shocked because she would never do anything about it she wants the OM to be happy.

H ends up having to help the h and they end up at a hotel where the h gives in to her TBS. However, the condom breaks and the wait is on to see if pregnancy is on the cards.

She treats the h how she thinks he dates and puts no demands on him then dumps him over a silly argument. She is off course preggers but doesn't want to trap him. He comes over to get back with her but her parents arrive and she hides him away. He overhears that she is pregnant and claims his woman on front of them.

The H has a platonic lady friend who wouldn't mind jumping his bones but the h is miffed as she doesn't know theres anything between them. When she sees them together when he goes off to a charity dinner on their honeymoon she swans down there with a friends baby and throws a drink in his face. Why this event appreared televised I've no idea as it sounds like a dead boring watch tbh.

The OW shows her face to explain the H was cited as her lover as a favour because it turns out her ex husband was gay and while she wouldn't mind taking him on he is not interested. He shows up slightly later and isn't bothered about being shown up in public only that she showed up and fought for him. He was jealous of the OM and is totally smitten with the h.

These 2 deserve each other.

Sam Maguire thinks she is in love with her friend Johny. But Johny is married to Alessandro Di Livio's sister. Alessandro knows Sam is infatuated with Johny and he is determined to keep Sam away from his sister's husband. They have a moment at a family wedding, and then her car breaks down in the rain, he gives her a lift to a nearly luxury hotel where he keeps a suite (!) and they have a one night stand, that turns into an affair and Sam discovers she is pregnant.
Started well, and I liked the H, but the h got increasingly hysterical and whiney and didn't communicate and made assumptions and I ended up skimming to the end, where she threw a drink over him because of yet another misapprehension. But he thought that was proof of her love, so he was happy.

I hated it. The heroine was absolutely insufferable, she was so mean to hero in every single interaction they had. She would say she wanted him to do x but actually wanted him to do y, like she said she didn't want him to kiss her so he didn't and he left, but then she started sobbing because he didn't kiss her. She basically wanted him to be a mind reader.

Heroine constantly made assumptions and made decisions on those assumptions causing all kinds of problems for herself and him. I hated how irrational she was all the time and especially that she slapped him during one of their fights, I truly didn't see what he saw in her. He came across as a beta male with how she treated him and yet he kept on chasing after her. P.

For the first time in 10 years I've read 2 M&B in a row.
This book suffers in my opinion from having way too much internal monologue/introspection right in the middle of plot scenes.
Things are happening...no they're not we need 4 pages of internal explanation about how the h is feeling, nevermind the fact that timeline wise this would result in like, 2.5min of awkward silence.
That said, still a fun read, you know what you're getting with a M&B and this is very par for the course. Not one of the best I've ever read, but far from the worst.

The Italian's Wedding Ultimatum

They had met through his sister who married her best friend. He had thought that she was in love with the bf. And did everything to break them apart. But after getting her to bed he found out that she was a virgin. Now he has to find a way to make her his. Well it does not go well when he has a reputation of seducing his bf's wife and the tabloids have not been kind. The story revolves around the fact that he wants her and will get her any way he can. This is one I will enjoy reading again.

The story was just ok. I waited for half the book for something to happen. When it finally did, everything from then on was just rushed. I had the feeling the whole story could have developed better, the main characters had good repartee for most part so I added a star. Otherwise it's a solid 2-star read.

cw: grief, death of parents recounted, physical and emotional trauma

This one was so good! Both the hero and heroine had unbelievable chemistry that made me excited to keep going. I also loved how the heroine gave as god as she got. One of my least favorite things that often happen in romance books is the author only allowing the hero to win arguments or having the heroine be meek compared to the alpha hero. I’m glad to say that this does not occur in here. The heroine had well thought out quips and bickered on the same level as the hero. Also, the discussion after the first sex scene was priceless. It was Queen behavior. Both the hero and heroine were amazing but I’m more than impressed with the heroine. Definitely recommend reading it for her!
