I'm conflicted about this book. It's about a teenager who's obsessed with finding 'The One', and how when she does supposedly find that person the affect it has on the rest of her life. And this book does a good job of telling that story, the author manages to tell us that prioritising one person above everything else in your life isn't a good thing without ever actually directly telling the reader. Sheldon subtly but clearly weaves her message in through the voice and actions of the other characters, and even some of Mike's own thoughts. It's just reading about someone so thoroughly fixated on one subject is really boring.
There needed to be something else in this book to give the reader a break from Mike constantly thinking or talking or being with Bill. Some subplot or two that would give Mike something else to focus on for more than a paragraph or two here and there. I wanted to DNF this simply because like Bone, I was sick of hearing about Bill Bill Bill.
The ending also resolved a bit too perfectly and unrealistically. It was cute and a good way to end the book, it just wasn't done quite as well as it could have been, although I really applaud that last line wrapping up the novel so smoothly.
Ultimately this novel achieved what it set out to do, it's just the whole point of this book is a topic that quickly becomes tedious and annoying if spent too long on.

Ah...kisah remaja.. :)
Mike (Michelle) mengimpikan cowok idamannya dan selalu menantikam kapan dia bertemu dengan si Dia. Suatu waktu tanpa sengaja dia bertemu dengan seorang pria yang bekerja di restoran perancis sebagai pelayan. Mike merasa itulah cowok idamannya.
Berbagai upaya dilakukan Mike untuk bisa berkenalan dengan pria itu. Berkat bantuan Bone dan Hope, sahabatnya, Mike jadi tahu nama pria itu adalah Bill. Gayung bersambut, Bill malah mengajak Mike untuk kencan.
Hubungan Mike dan Bill berlanjut. Tapi, Mike malah melupakan banyak hal hanya karena memikirkan Bill. Sementara Bill sepertinya tidak begitu menyukai teman2nya Mike. Jadi, benarkah Bill cowok idamannya?
Ide ceritanya tidak asing lagi. Ada banyak khayalan2 Mike di dalam novel ini. Tapi masih khas remaja lah... hanya bahi saya agak membosankan. Mungkin saya memang ga cocok lagi baca teenlit ya :)

I started reading it and it was ok but I got a few pages in when I read the following that has just turned me off the book altogether and now I know I am definitely not going to finish it.
"A sense of humor is important,"I agreed."But he can't be fat.That's the one thing. He can be covered with freckles, but he can't be fat. I don't think fat is attractive.....................
While I agree that being fat is not healthy and is the cause of many diseases and I know this because I am fat. I do not think young people should read that especially girls and definitely girls with a body issue. That is terrible to put in a book for young girls!!!!!

I hate to read translation novel, indeed. Except if the author is Laura Lavine and Paulo Coelho.
But accidentally I found Dyan Sheldon's on public library and I fall in love easilly with her light, funny and chic story. And I can't help to stop laughed when I read this. It's remind me to Laura Lavine and Mia Arsjad! Those kinda novel with touch of some jokes :)
I really enjoy this book! It's like read my own love story. When I was had a date and told my bestfriend when she listen it carefully. Oh-how-teenage-life hahaha...

I loved it.
I totally understand what Mike's going through. I mean, come on, everybody's been there before. Thinking about 'The One', convince that that person is the guy you just met and instantly falling all over him.. I've been there once and thank god my 'The One' is not him because he's a pig. ;)
This book is relatable and I enjoyed the way Sheldon writes. Easy to read and fun. Loved it.

I didn't really like this book! I wanted her to fall in love with Bone because the guy loved her in the first place. The guy she thinks she loves is actually a jerk. I only liked the ending where she met up with the guy she ran her cart into. That was funny.
