Everything you wanted to know about frogs (and more!) told in the most straightforward, beautifully illustrated, enjoyable way. Judy Hawes is one of my favorite authors.
I’m working my way through my “want to read” List in Goodreads… Starting with all of the picture books I added years ago. Seems I read science/nature picture books every summer.
The title is deceptive, as this book covers much more than just this one aspect. It provides a good general survey of frogs. Illustrations are both artistic and humorous, bordering on the cartoonish, but better than that. Madden uses several different approaches to texture, and the yellow and blue colors work well to give variety.
Very cute and perfect for young ones who are interested in wildlife/frogs. It was not as engaging as I would have expected, which is why my star rating is lower. I did enjoy the illustrations, though some were in color while others were black and white. I think it would have been more enjoyable if all had been in color.
Great informational book about frogs. Any kid who is curious about these amphibians will enjoy this book. The illustrations are realistic and accurate. I learned a couple of things I didn't know about frogs and I thought I knew a lot.
Talks about evolution, shows a selection of beautiful frogs from around the world and tell some of the interesting (and amazing) things about them. If even includes some "actual size" pictures, which are so fun for kids (and their parents).
Great informational book about frogs. Kids will understand the information from listening and looking at the pictures. If I ever need a book to introduce a type of amphibian or different types of frogs, I will know where to turn.
I love this whole series - Let's Read and Find out Science. Great pictures, interesting story/facts - I learn a lot from these books and so does my son.
