This book, while rather interesting was very outdated (1979).
I think the emotional chart and basics were probably the most telling, however the tests included with the book lacked clear instructions. The answer key did not properly correspond with the first question of the second test (the answer key says "YES" when it is an A or B question) and I lost a considerable amount of interest in the exams after the fourth test.
Other criticisms include its analysis on homosexuality and crime (again very outdated).
I think there is so much focus in elementary schools on fine motor-skills, especially with OT support that the types of scripts and cursive that this book helps analyze are not as culturally relevant.
It’s obviously a very old book. Handwriting analysis is commonly classified as a pseudoscience & shelved under “ things we used to believe in psychology but now know better about” next to most Freudian theories. However, it is written well and sets as a good example of how scientific inquiry has changed over years!
