“...give me three months.”

“Three months for what?”

“To make you love me.”

For years I’ve withheld my feelings for my best friend, Monique. After dating losers, she needs a man who’s docile, safe … a nice guy.

I’ve never been that.

When we were younger, I couldn’t control my temper when it came to keeping her safe. My loss of control forced the only woman I loved to move hundreds of miles away.

Over the years, I tried to accept that I wasn’t what she needed, even when she became engaged to another man, and it ripped my heart in half.

But then her fiancé turns out to be another scumbag who dumps her after a stay in the hospital due to her type 1 diabetes.

She finally returns to our hometown, desperate to find her footing in life again.

And I’m done sitting on the sidelines.

I’m a grown man now–still dangerous, but I’ve learned to manage my dark urges over the years. I can pretend to be the nice guy she needs if that means finally making her mine. That’s the side of me I don’t allow Monique to see when I tell her it’s time….time for us to be more than friends.

But Monique believes she is a burden I don’t need.

She doesn’t get it….

I offer her a deal. I’ll give her the money she needs to start the art gallery she’s always wanted. And….

“...you’ll give me three months.”

“Three months for what?”

“To make you love me.”

Then I hold my breath to see if she takes the deal with the best friend who’s also the devil in disguise…

This story was exhausting

I can’t count the number of times I got frustrated and stopped reading this book— only try to push through to try to finish. Monique’s insecurities about how she was conceived were annoying. She had no control of her conception and created these delusional narratives.

Y'all remember that one Kendall Jenner interview about her not putting her surname on resumes because her family etc etc.. that's who Monique sounded like.

Dry heave.

We have orbs, globes, savages.

Another dry heave.

Monique is conceited.
I'm so tired of her.
I wish she used her nepo babyness to her advantage.. like girl, you have money and connections. Use them!!!

Omg another dry heave.

****IMAGINARY HURL

Diego, you're not a king pin. Let's sit down kid(I'm 22 plz😭).
Diego was better in his dad's book😭.
If I hear the phrase, "I have to control myself." One more fxckin tiiiiiime!!!!
Yes Diego, we know you hold back. WE KNOW.
SO many dry heaves.

Ah yes. They have to remind us in every chapter that they started out as friends. How dare we forget.

I have to finish this.

***Imaginary hurl again.

Didn't it fade to black? If it fades to black doesn't it mean she was kidnapped or something? The inconsistencies make my palm itch.

I finished. I had to crawl, but I did it.
Nobody can convince me they aren't 18, because wtf was that?
The errors... they make me wanna cry so much.

In conclusion, I'm sure I don't like the friends to lovers trope.

This entry to the Townsend Legacy series is so different from the others I've read.

Yes, we still have an absolute Alpha who will burn the world down for his woman. Yes, she is a power, fierce business woman who can take care of herself. But this one had some special sauce. This one was a Friends to Lovers and even more than that, it starts off with Diego proposing an experiment of a very certain kind. Give him three months to make Monique love him.

Somehow Monique had been oblivious to what everyone else can see so clearly but Diego isn't waiting anymore. Now that she's back in their city and within his reach. Now that he is in the job he should be. Now that she is working on her dream art gallery.

He's taking what was always meant to be him. Because even though he says he's only asking for three months? Well, we all know it's for forever.

It was captivating to watch. Diego loves her so good. He is devoted and protective. Possessive and caring. There isn't an inch of him that isn't working towards their future happiness. I was swooning all the way through.

Monique also lives with Type 1 Diabetes and has been made to feel like a burden by previous partners. The way he systematically works to dismantle that believe was beautiful to watch. It truly brought tears to my eyes. I loved it.

I really found this story to be so powerful. Tiffany Patterson is making a life long fan out of me.

Narrated by J. Shani Michaels & Sean Crisden to absolute perfection. Both of their voices were so infused with emotion and realness. I loved their performances so much.

5 stars
3.5 on the spice scale

CW: Type 1 Diabetes, mention of SA (not main character), abusive family (past), PTSD, anxiety, bit of BDSM

Diego Townsend is a promising architect who refuses to work for Townsend Real estate, his family’s company because he wants to make it on his own but also because his best friend Monique doesn’t live in Williamsport. His best friend who he’s been in love with for as long as he can remember and who’s engaged to someone else. But when he learns the engagement has been called off and things aren’t working out in New York for Monique he’s determined to make his move and get his girl.
If you’ve read the Townsend series and the spin offs you’ll be familiar with Diego and Monique as kids as well as Monique’s parents story in “Just say the word” This is a nice wrap up of their story seeing them grow into adults and falling in love.

I love Tiffany Patterson, but this book was not it for me.
She was not crippled, she was diabetic, I know about this subject. Why did Diego act like she was helpless?!?
I found myself skipping passages toward the end, it didn’t hold my interest.

I love Tiffany Patterson's books, I've read almost 90% of her books and most of them have gotten 4/5 stars. But in the last few books, especially this one, Love Me has bothered me. The author uses the same "cake recipe" for all the books about the Townsend family or something related to the Townsend universe. I expected something different from this book but, I was a little disappointed. I can see the same characters in all the books... the women have great jobs, they all volunteer to overcome something from their past (volunteering is good, don't get me wrong) but it seems to have become a tradition for all the women to have or do something to help institutions. All of them! There is not a single woman who is outside some charity. Men are all alpha and have some dark past that has traumatized them all their lives... can't he just be a control freak? Just want to protect the woman he loves? Does he need to have some traumatic past? Going back to the book... I felt that the author didn't give it her all, I expected a bit of interaction between Diego and his mother, and we didn't get that, I was hoping for this interaction when the family barbecue was mentioned, I really wanted to see it and maybe miss the old characters at the barbecue but, unfortunately, it didn't happen. Monique was annoying to me throughout the book, always talking and thinking about her insecurities, even though Diego told her several times that he would always support her.The conflict with Diego's biological brothers was unnecessary in my opinion, it would have been more interesting if Monique's ex-boyfriend was alive and wanted revenge for what they did in college, maybe a rivalry between the architecture firms? I hope the next book is a little different, maybe Kennedy is kidnapped for a whole week and leaves everyone desperate? (I want a tragedy to make me cry and despair a little for 2 chapters hahahaha) I'm not going to give up on this author because I believe she has a lot of potential, and I pray to God that she becomes even more successful in this industry.

✅Friends to lovers
✅Emotional scars
✅Everyone can see it

This book is a heartwarming and delightful best friend-to-lovers, that will touch your soul and leave you with a smile on your face. Reading this book made my day!! The connection between Diego and Monique from childhood friends to something more is filled with sweetness, emotions, and genuine connections and gives you all the feels.

Monique and Diego have been inseparable since they were kids, sharing a bond that runs deep. Diego has carried a torch for Monique for as long as he can remember, and when she returns home after her engagement falls apart, he seizes the opportunity to confess his feelings. His proposal to spend three months trying to win her over.

Diego is a man who knows what he wants and is willing to work for it, no matter the odds. Monique, on the other hand, is grappling with both mental and physical issues making her incredibly relatable and I feel sympathy and empathy towards her.

One of the standout aspects of this book is the depth of the characters. The flashbacks provide valuable insights into their lifelong friendship and the sacrifices they've made for each other. The emotional connection between Diego and Monique feels authentic and heartwarming.

There is more to Diego than what meets the eye and he could probably be the most ruthless Townsend. The unfolding of their relationship is beautifully written and will captivate you from beginning to end.

I highly recommend you read this book.

He's a Keeper!

I think Diego might be the craziest Townsend!
This book was so good! Everything I expected and more! Monique made some choices that put her life and their relationship at risk! The reason behind her choices were heartbreaking! My tears flowed! I loved this story because of the thoughtfulness of the subject matter as well as the friendship that was/ is so much more!
Damon is a mess! Will is the old heads are! Lol
This is a must read! I know Ken will be getting a story?! Surely?!

Love Diego!

I really liked this story. It’s a very sweet, heartfelt friends to lovers story. I usually don’t love friends to lovers stories because it takes forever for them to get together but not in this book.

I was excited for this story as I loved Diego and Monique in their parent’s stories. Those are two of my favorite Tiffany Patterson books.

I loved everything about Diego. He knew what he wanted and when he decided to go for it you couldn’t tell him anything. I liked Monique because how can you not? But I wanted to shake her, she’s holding so much guilt when no one blames her or feels she’s a burden. She just needed to actually talk to her family. Her not talking to them hurt them more. But at the same time I understand why she was the way she was. I just wanted to see more of the sassy, cute Monique we were introduced to.

Another good Tiffany Patterson book. Check it out!

I have a lot of mixed feelings about this story. I thought it was good almost even great, however there was some things that annoyed me quite a bit. The story itself kept me hooked, I was invested a lot in mo & Diego’s story. There was an awful lot of repetition though, Monique’s nips were constantly hard, or were in the process of hardening. Even just from hearing Diego’s voice. Now part of me can relate, but that often? My girl must be consistently horney. I also wasn’t a fan of the way it seemed like Diego & Monique acted she was disabled, I know plenty of people with diabetes and they are practically able to live like they’re “normal”.

Best friends

ARC Review

Another well-written book by this author.
Monique and Diego have been friends from a very young age. Over the years their bond got stronger and they remained steadfast BFFs, confiding in one another their deepest secrets. Factors kept them apart romantically until Diego decided to make a deal with Monique to give him a chance to show they could be good together.

This storyline had the right amount of chemistry and tons of emotions to go around.

The 2nd book in the Townsends Legacy is all about Diego and Monique. Just by the glimpses of the interaction in Kyle and Riley’s story, my interest was already piqued. Before focusing on them as a couple I want to talk more about them individually. We have Diego Townsend, who has grown so much since his first appearance in his parents’ love story. Over the years he has gone through a lot and is still navigating through old wounds left by his toxic biological father. Then we have Monique Richmond who is not only Diego’s childhood best friend but has her own story to tell since readers were first introduced to her as a little girl. She is not only dealing with Type 1 diabetes but still trying to find her self-worth outside of her health struggles. While all of this is going on, our main couple are dealing with how to best navigate their childhood friendship turning into much more as adults.
I won’t spoil the story, but I will say this story is full of romance, past trauma, and humor.
I think one thing that stands out to me is how both Diego and Monique had a chance to see their respective mothers fall for great men who turned into the fathers that they needed. I will say there were things that I was curious to see how they would be resolved and wasn’t disappointed in less. Of course, we couldn’t complete the story without the appearances of some of our favorite characters. They didn’t change much, especially Monique’s father Damon who had me laughing throughout the story with his antics. I also loved the introductions to new characters. I believe Diego and Monique truly worked as a couple because they started off as friends. Also, they were each other’s biggest cheerleaders outside of their respective families. Plus, Diego knew that Monique was the one for him even when she had some reservations for several reasons.
Overall, I really enjoyed the story, and our couple received the happy ever after. I am looking forward to Townsend’s story and the next release. I have a few theories about Kennedy already.

this was a hard read for me.

if i had to read “eyes ballooned” on more time i think i would have committed a crime. For real who edits these books because the mistakes, and the over usage of phrase is astronomical.

the conflict in this book is quite frankly dumb. she’s taking on her mother trauma without once talking to her mother about it. Diego not once for a control of his anger and don’t really care how he treats her currently behaving like that in general is a huge red flag.

Monique was annoying and whiny. Diego is a walking red flag with a temper and and an inability to control himself.

also i get diabetes is a life long illness that effects your everyday life but it really is not as big of a deal as the author is making it. Everyone acts like she’s going to drop dead any moment, especially when she’s been dealing with it her whole life. so dramatic

I felt like this book had potential but it just didn’t draw me the way the first legacy book (Kyle and Riley) did. Much of the book felt forced… like the chemistry was just not there between the main characters, maybe because the author kept insisting, through various character, that there was chemistry 🙄

The fact that the main characters still weren’t being completely honest with each other at 70% while saying they’re each others’ secret keeper was just annoying.

I was not a fan of the MFC. I was rolling my eyes nonstop over her ridiculous, self-mutilating logic. Like girl talk about your feelings and move on. The MMC just didn’t do it for me either. Idk why. Just not a fan.

That said, I’m holding hope for third installment, Save Me, which focuses on the heated exchange between Kennedy and Dae *swoon*

Diego!

Tiffany and her Townsend men! Here we met Diego, stepson of Carter Townsend from Carters flame. You don’t have to read that books first to follow this one but I highly suggest it.
Diego and Monique have been best friends from childhood and grow up to have the cutest love story. This is a sweet romance with diabetes rep and has some dv mentioned in here so please check the authors note for triggers. Overall this was a sweet read that had me floating in the end. Happy reading 🥰

Tiffany has done it again with this book and NEVER disappoints her readers. Monique and Diego were friends since childhood but their feelings for one another were hidden. When the time is right, all emotions come to the forefront. I love how Diego knew what and who he wanted and mde it happen. Monique just had to get on board with the plan. I love how she was a safe place for women who had been thru trauma and showed the world how much they meant thru their art. Her conversation with her mom was priceless. Monique handled herself when a problem arose lol. I love how the families bonded together at all times. An illness should not hold back someone from finding love. The truth will set you free. Looking forward to the next book.

Let me start off by saying I love you, Tiffany Patterson. A wonderful author and stories that will make you swoon. Love Me was the book I have been waiting for. Another Townsend all grown up. Diego is every woman's dream. Especially his best friend, Monique. I love seeing two children of the Townsend/Richmond family coming together. I liked how it touched on illnesses such as type 1 Diabetes and how that affects your life. I loved how Monique's step dad raised and loved her as his own. He was protective of her like any dad should be. It was hard to see Monique make assumptions about how her family felt about her instead of looking at the reality of how she has always been loved by everyone. This is such a beautiful story about two people who have always been there for each other. Definitely worth rereading!

Always His

Another beautiful Towsend’s story, I knew after Kyle got married Diego wouldn’t be far behind. 😉

I can only imagine the pain a teenager had to through finding out that her conception was what Monique found out ( No spoilers) , however if you read Sandra and Damon’s story you already know… Sandra loved her baby with all her being in spite off. because she is also a part of her. What a woman, WOW !!! I am not sure if I could, but applaud her. They should tell her, as Damon suggested… but I can see her dilemma.

They were each other secret keepers …
Anyway, Monique and Diego were meant to be… it took them a while to figure out. They went through a lot… but never lost each other.
In a way they were already “married “ without the I do’s … lol, he had been taking care of her since they were kids, and like he said, Monique owned his heart since he was a kid , and you better be that the feeling was mutual.

Great read! What next? Kennedy and the Asian ?!
Just saying! 😜

I really love Diego

I loved book 1 with Kyle and Riley, but this book was just as good if not better. I loved the best friends storyline and how their friendship started as children and turned into love. I loved how Diego was so supportive and protective over Monique. He loved her all those years, but wouldn't tell her. And he did tell her, he couldn't reel his feelings back in, with all the drama in their lives. I loved their family relationships and how they were all intermingled. Especially the grief her dad gave Diego, but in the end was for him.
*I loved his saying about he needed to moisturize my beard. Romantic and funny. Loved it.

This is not my first Tiffany Patterson novel. I found it difficult to appreciate this story because I was not invested in either of the main characters. Monique is portrayed as a whiny, insecure person who plays the part of victim to the hilt. She allows the knowledge of how she was conceived to color her whole adult life and alienate her from her family, though no one in her life treats her with anything but unwavering love. She goes for 11 years without ever discussing this with her mother, and then compounds her victimhood with the fact that she has diabetes as some sort of badge of unworthiness. Therefore she continues to settle for worthless boyfriends as what she deserves.
Then there is Diego. Here's a guy with anger management issues to the extreme. Most of us would like our guy to be a hero who comes to our defense and puts an abuser in his place, but he allows his rage to consume him to the point where his solution is murder. This type of rage is expressed by him several times over mistreatment of Monique, and once over contact with his half brother, with one of his outbursts landing him in jail for a time. While attempted rape might justify this rage, breaking off an engagement does not. That's a bit much for me. Also though his father practiced some wicked verbal abuse on him as a child, his half brothers should not be held responsible for their father's actions, any more than he should. As a responsible adult, he could have met with his father's attorney, received his inheritance and donated it to one of the many help centers that the women in his family volunteer at, instead of flying off in a hot rage at the mere mention of his sperm donor and deciding to end his half brothers. Also there is a subtle indication that he may have been responsible for a fatal accident involving the guy who caused him to receive probation for his attack on him.
The intimate scene had so many turn offs for me. I lost count of the number of times Monique's nipples hardened, sometimes from just a sentence spoken by Diego. Must have been about 20 times. Then there were eyes ballooning, yikes!. I get that some people like breath play, but this need to add dominance that involves choking, when your lover was almost killed by another from this method is beyond acceptable.
Finally, I have to say that there are numerous editorial errors in this book. Some of the worst involve leaving words out of a sentence. A few times a word that indicates the negative such as not were left out. Obviously if you leave this word out you change the context of the sentence from a negative to a positive. Also conjunctions, and prepositions and sometimes even use of incorrect gender identifiers. I read a lot of Kindle authors, and am continually dismayed by the number of authors that either have no editor/proofreader, or very poor ones. These authors have the potential to write some books that are really good, but I can't see them advancing to NYT bestseller status if they don't take the time to correct the errors in their books.I just couldn't love it.

This book took me by surprise. It’s the first book by this author that I’ve read and I wasn’t sure what to expect going into it. It was a good and enjoyable read. I enjoyed it enough to read the entire book, however, it did take me a few chapters to get into it and to connect with the characters, but once I had, the story started to flow smoother and I devoured it in less than a day. I liked the author's style of writing. It was easy to keep up with the story and also easy to get lost in the story and forget the world around me.

It was a heartfelt friend-to-lovers romance that had me all up in my feels. I absolutely loved Diego and Monique. They were adorable.

Diego had an alpha/dominant side that I couldn’t get enough of. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love my hero dominant and he was certainly that but he still has such a kind and soft side, especially when it comes to Monique… But I’m getting ahead of myself…. okay, so Diego Townsend is an amazing architect, who refuses to work for hit families company, Townsend Real Estate. Because he wants to prove to not just his family but to himself that he can make it on his own without his family.

Diego has been secretly in love with his best friend forever now, Monique. However, Monique is engaged to another man and she doesn’t live in Williamsport. But when Diego learns that her engagement has been called off and things are not working out the way they are meant in New
York to Monique. He is determined to win over her heart, to show her that they are endgame and he would do absolutely everything and anything to make her happy and he proves that over and over.

Monique? She seems to be a little ignorant of the way Diego feels. Clueless. Everyone else can see how head over heels this man is for her except for her. Diego is done waiting and now that she lives in the same city now is the time to finally make his move and get his dream girl.

Will these two get their happily ever after together or will it all fall apart before it begins?

My heart hurt for Monique when it came to her diabetes and the fact that she has been made to feel like she is a burden to everyone. Which is so far from the truth.

The chemistry was undeniable and intense throughout this book. I’m so glad I kept reading and didn’t give up because it did turn out to be a lovely, heartwarming, emotionally charged read.

4 STARS!!

Monique and Diego have been close friends since they were young but they never took that to a romantic relationship. After college she moved away and even with distance between them they remained close. Now that she's no longer with her loser fiancé and ready to move back home, Diego sees a chance to right a wrong and make Monique his.

She is dealing with some harsh truths that were once family secrets. It effects not only how she sees herself but also her relationship with her family. Diego is dealing with his own kind of family drama in the form of his birth father leaving him money in his will and his brothers think it should be theirs. He's also dealing with reigning in that temper that got him into trouble when they were in college after he fiercely and violently protected her.

Diego is finding his place in the family business working as an architect and putting his stamp on their home town. Monique is using her voice to speak up for artists who can't always speak up for themselves as she works to start and build her dream art gallery.

Throughout their journey Diego wants to prove to her just how right they are together. Monique has her doubts because she feels like her type 1 diabetes makes her a burden. We can blame the looser ex for those thoughts.

Their journey is so heartwarming. We get to see snippets of their past together along with how they are now. Plenty of romance and spice, family and love, with a bit a danger mixed in. Great read.

AUDIOBOOK SPECIFIC: This was recorded in a dual narration style. My only critique is that I loved their own unique voices so much that I wish it had been recorded in a duet style. I couldn't help missing the other's voice as we switched between their chapters. On the plus side I now want to look up other books with these narrators.

Love Me by Tiffany Patterson is book two in the Townsend Legacy series. I went into this book not knowing what it was about and finished this audiobook loving it so much. If you like childhood friends to lovers, chronic illness representation, emotional scars, found family, best friends, mental health rep, BDSM, he falls first, touch her and die, possessive MMC, then you will love this book.

Diego and Monique have been best friends since they were kids, they even (as their parents put it) have their own language. Monique suffers from diabetes and the glucose monitor that’s on her arm is programmed to her phone, Diego takes it upon himself to program it to his phone as well to keep an eye on her numbers. Monique was born out of SA, once she found out it changed her life and the way she saw herself. Her stepfather raised her and loved her like she was his own, never making her feel like she was not his. Diego was born out of an affair. He never cared for his bio father, his father never made him feel like he was good enough to be his kid. His step father loved and treated him like Diego was his kid and never made him feel he wasn’t. They know each other so well and their chemistry between these two is off the charts. I love how Diego will do anything for Monique or hurt anyone who hurts her no matter the consequences.

I enjoyed this story so much, Tiffany did such an amazing job with the storylines and plot. I feel the characters were done so well, the parents, especially their dads were amazing. The dads had me laughing. The narrators J. Shani Michaels and Sean Crisden did such an amazing job they were Diego and Monique. I could not stop listening to this audiobook and it had me hooked from the beginning. Thank you to Wordsmith Publicity and Tiffany Patterson for letting me listen to this audiobook in exchange for my honest thoughts and opinions.

Monique and Diego have a shared past. Tumultuous at times but he would do EVERYTHING to protect her. So many milestones have created their special bond.
Best Friends with traumatic background are a common factor. Can she overcome her fears with this man who is willing to stand by her through it all?

Diego's life has been centered around this one person. Harbors feelings for her, has gone to hell and back, would do it over again. This has come at high price for Monique, and Diego suffers the consequences.
A reaction that could have been prevented without his meddling.
(Could've, Should've, Would've)🫰

Now more than ever she needs to be stronger with her past becoming her future. Suffering from Type one diabetes is very difficult but it's manageable. This is only part of who she is, not the entire package. If only she can figure this out and get over the hurdle. She's to proud to admit when she needs help, and stubborn whenever it's offered, especially from those who care and love her the most.

-He's hoping that 3 months will be enough to win her love.
And she'll see past any mistakes he's made because they were all for her and how he truly feels.

-Will she get stop blaming herself for the past because of her medical condition, and things out of her control?

*You are free to make whatever choice you want, but you are not free from the consequences of the choice.- Unknown

✨This has to be what pure bliss feels like.

I am giving this book 4 stars purely and utterly for Diego, this man not only did he raise my expectations to the roof but i think he is a top book boyfriend, he is the type of touch her and die, an absolute sweetheart for her, has her blood sugar tracker on her phone and has snacks ready for her every-time anytime and her siblings love him more than her. Truly i am in love with this man.
As for the Monique i would say i loved her as much as him but i liked her enough. I do think she is a badass lady (not as much as the first books FMC) but she did piss me off sometimes with the whole “i am worthless” story, it felt like she can have amazing character development and their relationship is thriving and they both agree on that and thenn she would be likee nahh this will end soon when someone asks her GAL COMONNN.

Regarding the plot, i did enjoy the writing of the first book more, it felt like this one is more jumping around like there would be a hint of an event (meeting his whole family for example) that was hyped for three chapters and then the chapter after it jumps in time with no mention whatsoever of that meet up. And it did feel like unfinished business between the past and present - it was a big deal for the FMC to be the voice to those unheard and to make sure all women can speak their truth about what their went through, yet she didnt speak up about her experience in the past nor wasnt even mentioned to her parents (which i was personally excited for in order to see her dads reaction).
All in all the plot is around 3 stars but i cant give diego that so ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ it is.

Love Me was my first Tiffany Patterson book but won't be the last. Now I have to catch up on all the other Townsend's because they picked up my interest. I loved Diego and Monique's story and all the ups and downs along the way to their happily ever after. Diego and Monique were friends since childhood and love each other but keep their feelings aside. For a period of time they even lead their separate lives without a chance to getting back together. But after a strange twist of fate they are back where they started and this time around Diego isn't going to miss his chance. Both Diego and Monique has a dark secrets from their past that keep them apart from their families and hold them back in their relationship. But despite everything Diego is set up on making Monique his. I loved how caring and supportive was Diego of Monique and how they were each others safe place. They both have to face a part of their past that made them what they are or formed part of their lives. The conversation between Monique and her mother was so bitter sweet and broke my heart a little. And I loved it how Monique proved that she's her father's daughter. And despite her illness she's strong and just the right partner for Diego. Diego is a true Townsend to the bone and stands up to his name and family traditions ... in dealing with a certain problems. And Diego was so thoughtful and I loved his grand proposal. And the bonus epilogue was so sweet.

I received an ARC copy of this book by WordSmith Publicity in exchange of an honest review.

This book is without a doubt one of my most highly anticipated reads of 2023! As a longtime fan of the Townsend Brothers, I have watched Diego and Monique grow and evolve throughout the series. As a result, I was eagerly looking forward to diving into their journey from friends to lovers. I was captivated by the undeniable chemistry between Diego and Monique, and it was clear that they were soulmates meant to be together. Diego's unwavering protective nature towards her only added to their strong bond, and it was heartwarming to see how much he cared for her. However, I must admit that Monique's constant insecurities and distancing herself from her family because of her illness and birth became tiresome to read. It was hard to understand why she would push away her loved ones who have always shown her nothing but love and support. Furthermore, I was saddened by the lack of development in Diego's anger issues. While his flashbacks and conversations with his brothers hinted at the root of his behavior, it was not explored in depth, leaving me wanting more. As a fan of the Townsend family dynamics, I was also baffled by the absence of their usual involvement in the story. Even Carter, Diego’s dad, was hardly featured, and a crucial conversation between him and Diego was missing. As much as it pains me to say, this may not be my favorite book in the series. However, my loyalty to the Townsend family keeps me invested, and I am hopeful for a stronger installment in the future.

Much like the last book, the elements of a great story are there but the execution just didn't happen. I don't know what it will take, but indie authors have to get good editors. There were even more grammatical errors than the last book. Not to mention the lack of research on what exactly Type 1 diabetes is and isn't. I work in medicine, have for 25 years and the lack of understanding of how diabetes works was astounding. But there's a lesson here; don't write about things you don't understand.

In truth, this was a poorly written book. The prose lacked depth and nuance. The subject matter was heavy and there was a real opportunity for the characters not to succumb to the tired trope of miscommunication and anger. But the author plowed right through opportunities to talk about why Diego was so angry or who his birth father was, truly and how that affected him. The author ignored the real discussions around Monique's feelings about how she was conceived and what happened to her birth father. Instead, we got chapter after chapter of low numbers, moisturized beards and angry outbursts.

To be a writer, in my opinion, is to be an observer, a truth teller. But what I've discovered is that many indie authors lack understanding of who they are or what they want to see. In turn, we get 300 pages of nothing. If we, the buying public want to see better written books, we have to be the truth tellers and in truth, this book just wasn't good.
