This was very good. An incredibly comprehensive introduction to fairy tales, what they are, their history, how they can be interpreted (criticisms included), and a not-so-exhaustive list of future critical reading.
I'll be picking this back up and referring to my collection of underlines and post-it notes, I'm sure.

A brilliant all-emcompassing introduction into fairy tale theory. Without going too deeply into any one subject, it covers the fundamentals to a satisfying degree and is abundant with well-chosen recommendations on further reading without feeling like it's just a list of other people's work. Teverson's passion for the subject and its potential in storytelling shines throughout.
Great overview of the genre and scholarship from a historical perspective. Provided enough detail to see how collectors, authors and academics shaped the study and analysis of fairy tales. Great for the more advanced student with practical jumping off points to dive deeper in specific areas of study.
This was a goldmine of scholarly material related to Fairytales. It is rather dense and dry, but that's to be expected. Teverson provides us with a very solid foundation for learning more about fairytales, devoid of too much bias on his part. He does a very good job of presenting the historical truths, while not necessarily endorsing any of them.
A really good introduction to Fairy Tales, Folk Tales, Myths etc. and how to approach them (especially the potential problems of interpretation). Did not go into as much detail as I expected into the tales themselves, was more about historical context and the development on the Fairy Tale and similar genres.
A great introduction to the plethora of research that is available on fairy tales. Traverson creates a manageable amount of information that signposts a path through the overwhelming topic, for future research
