Is it just me or does this cover look like Casper is whispering a little chant before he sacrifices the bunny to his vampiric God? Poor bunny.

On a side note about the books content: I'm 25% and bored out of my mind with these two snoozeballs.

It seems like the overall story arch is going nowhere. It's at the same level it's been at since book two. It's old and boring. Normally I don't care cause I like the characters enough to enjoy the book.

This book though both of the characters were boring too. Reading this was almost painful.

Okay, this was a purchase based predominantly on curiosity. I wanted to read a romance between a bunny shifter and a vampire. This was a new to me author and this was the ninth book in the series, but I just took a leap of faith. And I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the author's style. I will most assuredly be reading the other books in the series.

This is a story involving a light and simple plot with just a slight twist to it and low angst. It is the kind of book you pick up when you just want to be entertained- not much thinking and no angsty tugs on your emotions, but still manages to engage you and make you smile.

Cass is an old vampire who is sent by the vampire council to meet with a shifter pack in Colorado regarding the disturbing news they have heard about shifters being sold to human scientists for study and experimentation. He arrives at the alpha of the pack's door and after a slight misunderstanding is welcomed by Declan the alpha and his mate. Cass explains his mission, but then he is blind sided by the little albino man who helps bring in the refreshments. Cass' experiences disorientation and immediate attraction which causes him to act rashly by grabbing up the littler man and pull him into his lap. His senses tell him that he has finally found his adorata- his mate.

Casey has recently been rescued from the human lab and brought back to health under the care of Declan's pack who are now his friends. He is curious when he learns there is a vampire in the house because he has never seen one. The vampire is a large gorgeous male who surprises him when he is pulled into the vampire's lap and nuzzled. His surprise turns to discomfort when he feels the scrape of fang on his neck. Casey is afraid of needles and any other sharp objects meant to puncture skin with good reason. But once his terror recedes, he too, realizes that Caspian is his mate.

The rest of the story is the two mens' gradual process from first attraction, learning each other's differences, getting past Casey's past and acknowledging they might have a very bright future together. Naturally, there are some bumps along the way. Casey's kidnappers are still at large and still want him. And there is the dreaded 'meet the in-laws' type visit where Casey returns to the home and family that cast him out with Caspian in tow to warn his former pack about the rogue shifters who are selling shifters to humans.

As I pointed out before, the plot was a light and easy read that also included a bit of excitement along the way. I enjoyed the main characters and the secondary characters both from the Stoney Ridge Pack and those that were Caspian's vamp friends. This was my first book in the series and I had no trouble with the world building of Charlie Richard's supernatural world or reading out of sequence. Though other couples were in this story, their stories were not mentioned much so it didn't provide spoilers.

Not a heavy-hitter, just a fun romping m/m romance in the paranormal world.

After all the tragedy Casey went through, I am so glad he gets a powerful rich mate who is totally devoted to protecting him and making him happy. My favorite human Jared and his mate Carson are very active here as well so that made me really happy. I love how tough Jared is very protective of Casey and helps Caspian rescue and guard him.

We get to meet Casey's herd and family and the one responsible for selling him to the scientists. It was a horrible roller coaster for Casey but his HEA is a super one. Wish his hip muscle could have been fixed tho.

Ummm....4 Stars for my love, Jared :)

I liked this one. I liked that some progress was made in the plot. I LOVED Jared ;) I really didn't like how both MC's started with 'CAS'. Drove me bonkers. My only question: Did I mention I love Jared?

Okay, I'll be honest, I bought this book because it sounded so ridiculous. And I have to admit, I kind of enjoyed it. The plotting was bad and the characters lacked depth. But I did enjoy reading it. It was WAY TOO expensive for how little book it was. And on that alone I don't recommend buying it.

Vamps and bunnies- match made in heaven?

Total enjoyment! I mean really, the fluffy bunny and the vampire? There's a lot of adorable in here. There is also plenty of heat and passion along with the bunny standing up for himself and the vamp proving that he has diplomatic skills and brains along with his fangy brawn. The two have to find a way tom get past fears borne from the past and some prejudices from the interspecies mixing, but they do it together and work it out along the way. Very fun story!

reread - While each of these stories is an interesting short story or novella, each in their own little series, they become much more if they are read in the suggested reading order by Charlie Richards as a whole. https://charlie-richards.com/reading-...
While they are still not a 5/5, at least they become a bit more than okay and are much more interesting as characters mesh across and around individual series. Individually they are a 3/5 so that is where I mark them.

Casey's innocence verses Caspian's acquired worldly knowledge. The both focus on the other. Both wanting to see where the intense passion takes them.

What's the Best Mate for a Rabbit shifter who is Afraid of Needles? A Vampire whose Needle sharp Teeth are needed to Claim the Bunny.

I wanted a great mate be it a Human or Shifter or Vampire for the short almost five foot crippled Rabbit shifter. So long as his mate was understanding, compassionate, willing to compromise, protective, and a little scary. Casey never imagined that anyone would ever want him especially not the big handsome Vampire, Caspian. He needed someone like his great friend(s) such as Jared, Lark, and Declan would not allow anything else bad to happen to the sweet Bunny. If you know me you know I'm a sucker for a Rabbit shifter story. What made this one so compelling, poignant, and even humorous were the characters ("Casey's true family") that surrounded him. They wanted what was best for Casey. He had suffered unimaginable horrors, the least of which was being banished from his herd of Rabbits and having to live on the streets. Then he was kidnapped by other shifters and sold to scientists for experimentation. Vile, cruel, third Reich tortures without benefit of anaesthesia because all he was to them was a beast - an abomination to those who permanently maimed him.

The outrage, the pity, the overprotectiveness that most of the characters of the Wolves of Stone Ridge exhibited toward Casey along with the help of Elephant shifter psychiatrist Dr Gordon Digby. They all wanted the best for him for the rest of his life. The Vampire Caspian had a lot to prove. A lot of expectations to live up to. Luckily he turned out to be just caring enough, just cautious enough, just ruthless enough to make Casey an ideal mate.

Now if only he can get Jared to believe and accept it. And where were they going to live? The Vampire Liaison Caspian traveled a lot and his home base was near Atlanta, Georgia. But before that could be tackled there was the little visit back to Casey's "home" herd. He dreaded seeing his father & brother - but he missed and loved his mother & sisters. Yet would they even be allowed to go to the village? There were special rules governing shifters and Vampires. Not that Jared going along meant none of those rules meant anything. F#ck a bunch of rules and the parchment they were written on and the blood seals binding them.

How would Caspian handle Casey's needle fear? How would he never be able to completely claim his mate? Is it just an excuse so he isn't saddled with a useless, twisted embarrassment mate like Casey? How would his best Vampire friends who were like family to Caspian Sebastian & Lexington react to his defective mate, especially Dobbs the one that hated shifters? How could Caspian truly want him if he didn't even try to take him along or stay with him that first night? Wasn't that telling?

In this story we learn a lot about Shifter and Vampire relations at least from this author's perspective. Ms Richards does some great world building and continuity between the series. Next in order of publication is Hope for a Buffalo KM #3. A story with very large shifters - Yeah! (Fist pump!)

Why are vampires always tall, even the ones who've lived for centuries? A 6'3" man 400 years ago would have been practically a giant. I've only read one story where the vampire was short and still the more powerful in the relationship. It makes me want to write a vampire story where all the vampires have to shop in the kids clothing section. :)

The vampire "...navigated the rough terrain as best he could in the dark." Is he completely blind in the daylight then?

No strong possessive man like a pack alpha would leave a strange vampire he was leery of in his office and just go somewhere else.

Casey and Caspian Carpathian. It's like the start of a tongue twister. God that's confusing. I don't want to spend time reading these trashy types of books at a normal rate. They're all conspiring against md with their ridiculous naming schemes. They're all the same! And then when the two protagonists have short naps that start with the same three letters, I want to throw my reader across the room.

Why are the small submissive guys the ones who do the dishes?

I know these reviews are mostly negative. I try hard to talk about positive stuff, too, but when they're all the same, it's hard to come up with stuff. But obviously I like them or I wouldn't keep reading them.

Well that's different. I would think most men would balk at that particular method of claiming but I'm not a man so who knows. I've long thought the men's reaction to something similar in another series was a bit extreme considering the alternative but... Well kudos for doing something new.

I thought he was even more physically messed up as a shifter but he didn't have any issues. I like that he did most of the saving himself but I wanted there to be some injury or something a little more intense at the end.

Weak ending. I also don't like the assumption that they would live where the vampire lived first. Given Casey's history, it makes more sense the other way. Also, if they move back and forth like that, Casey wing be able to have a job like working in the bakery that he was looking forward to.

Jared and Carson were funny, though, and I like how the author had Casey describe some of the relationships so they didn't all sound the same like usual.

I liked this one better because I have a soft spot for tiny twinks. Vamp Caspian shows up saying the vamps have heard about the scientists and they want to know what's going on so they can prepare just in case. Casey shows up and Caspian freaks out and practically claims him right there, however Casey freaks when he goes to bite him because of his bad experiences with the scientist/needles/sharp teeth. Caspian takes a chill pill and it seems that the same people who sold Casey to the scientists in Arizona are still doing it, so it's decided that Caspian and Casey along with Jared and his mate and two of Caspian's friends will go and "visit" Casey's family and see what happens. Of course someone still wants Casey out of the picture and he ends up in a sewer with a dead raccoon. Still, he was cute even if super tiny at less than 5 feet. My only question was his entire family/pack (or herd I guess) are jack rabbits and he's like a white fluffy bunny. I'm sorry, but not amount of genetic engineering could make that happen. LOL Still Casey was little and spunky so I enjoyed it.

So book 6 I reviewed here: http://openskyebookreviews.com/goadin... - it’s one of my all time favorite MM books ever! And in books 7, and 8 we rescue Dagus and convert Miach to the pack way of thinking. Casey is the bunny shifter Jared and Carson rescued from the scientists and he’s been staying with them for awhile.

(I love that we get to see more of Jared and Carson in this, too!) Casey is very sweet but a little scared of things like needles so when he finds out his mate is a vampire, the whole biting thing becomes the main issue.

Casey is barely 5 feet tall and Cas is over 6 feet, so we also get big/guy little guy too.

There is a bit of drama with Casey’s family and then our couple gets their HEA. We don’t see much of this couple later because they end up traveling for Cas’ job, but we are introduced to Seb and Dobs in this story and they are around more in the future.

This is a great addition to the series!

If you like fluff, this is definitely the book for you.

While I was hesitant at first because the pairing is of a vampire and a bunny (evil bloodsucker and cute fluffy, really?), somehow the author made it work! I couldn't stop smiling and aw-ing over this twosome! Sure, there were some issues the poor little bunny shifter had to overcome to be with his alpha-male, vampire mate, but in the end the happily-ever-after was worth it. Casey, the bunny, still had a spunky personality despite his issues so it only added to the attraction between the two of them. And when Caspian, the vampire, first met his mate (or rather, smelled him) the instant sparks and ensuing...hot scene...was well worth the tissues I needed to wipe the drool away. Dang, never knew cute 'n' fluffy could combine with alpha sexiness to create one of the most attractive little stories that still sticks with me long after I've finished the book.

In this story we meet some new paranormals - vamps. Caspian works for the vampire council and he has been sent to Declan to get as much information as possible about the scientist who have been kidnapping shifters since they are worried that vampires could be next. What he is not prepared for is meeting Casey and finding his mate. Casey of course is both fascinated and terrified after his ordeal with the scientists. There is a visit to Casey's home that solves at least part of the mystery as to how and why Casey was kidnapped and sold to the scientists in the first place. Jared and Carson are along for the ride on this one since they have taken Casey in and Jared is very protective of Casey. We don't find out all that much about the vamps in this one, but maybe we'll learn more later.

I am going to read this, despite the cover! *shudder*
This cover makes me glad to read ebooks!
Ms Richards books, with a few exceptions are my short, sinfully sweet( even if it is a bit over the top) sexy go to reads.
This one fit the bill, we were introduced to Vampires in this one and the bunny herd, my only fear is all these different species and places might get to be a bit much to follow, but was glad to see Casey get his HEA, and some progress made in finding the scientist ring.

ETA
Despite the cover there is no killer bunny, sorry Lilli! :(

2012 Review:

Cute, cute.

Abused albino bunny and vampire mediator. XD
They were both nice, especially the vampire and he came with a few equally nice friends who, I’m sure, will make for enjoyable protagonists down the line.

All in all, this wasn’t a huge story in any regard. Issues were resolved comparatively easily, love came smoothly, and even the danger was dispelled fairly swiftly. But it was nice and felt good.

And it’s good to know that in this universe dragons, demons and angels exist. XD I’m sure we’ll get to those eventually.

A vampire and his bunny

A continuation of the evil scientists. The vampires have caught wind of them and sent Caspian to find out more. He meets his mate, a victim of the scientists, Casey. The bunny shifter. A little angst but there attraction and love was pretty fast. Even being claimed, Casey got over the fear of it within a day or two.

We meet a couple more vamps and Casey meets his past again. This was quick to read. This is a series I once in a blue moon read the next book because I am looking for something light and quick.

It was o.k. I did like the vampire parts and that exposure though I'd of liked to know more. Unfortunately the picture I have in my head of Casey is not really adorable in human form. For some reason it's slightly creepy (I know, I know..that's terrible to say) but pink eyes are cute on a bunny...not so sure on a human. Plus he's just so small - it felt kind of awkward the whole way through to me. YMMV.

Given all that Casey went through, I am so glad he gets his happily ever after in the form of Caspian a devoted, powerful, loving mate who only wants to see him happy. Jared plays a pretty active role in the book as does Carson which was just fine by me as they are two of my faves. Jared's protectiveness and caring for Casey warmed my heart and I like seeing the friendships, not just romantic relationships, in the pack.

Really silly and unrealistic. Hate the cover, and don't know if the author had any say in this, but if she did, wow. An albino? Really? Pink eyes? Ugh! Too many random characters--no character development. The sex scenes were well written so I give it a 2, but the plot and story line was just odd.

I wasn't sure how I felt when I learned that a vampire was going to be in the mix with the shifters. Gotta say that I was pleasantly surprised by Caspian and Casey's pairing. I liked that things had to go slow because of Casey's fear and injury. I was also interested in the plot and Casey going back home to see his family.

I'm not totally sure about this book. While I like Casey and was glad he got a book. I'm still stuck on where the vampires suddenly came into the story. Plus there isn't really any information about the vampires. They are just there. I hope the vampires are visited in more detail throughout the rest of the series.

Much like Stormy Glenn, Charlie Richards infuses her stories with just enough intrigue and endearing romance to make it possible for to me overlook bad writing. Not great, but a pleasant way to pass the time if you're in the mood for some sappy m/m shifter fun. Be warned that Richards sucks at dirty talk. The sex scenes can be a little awkward at times.

This shifters couple, Caspian and Casey, was simply boring pair. This nine part of "Stone Ridge" doesn't have a real deeper plot. Which makes is to plain and bland. I really hope this series will get a new additional storyline, because the way it stands now it's starting to flow down the drain.

It was an ok read. Some of the plot were moving along (albeit at snail pace.)

The cover made me giggle though. The white rabbit just looked so out of place with the dark and red tone of the cover.
