The Marvel Heroes of Reading line of early readers is designed to offer reluctant readers, books that they will want to read by featuring characters they love. The series is broken into three levels that invoke the rigorous training courses their favorite Marvel heroes must engage in to perfect their super powers. In reading this series, young readers will prefect their own power to read.
Meet the Amazing Spider-Man introduces readers ages 4-6 to the world of Marvel's most popular Super-Hero, Peter Parker, otherwise known as the amazing Spider-Man!
The story is overly simple, but that's to be expected in an early reader. However, the Kindle version didn't work well on my Fire. Words overlapped the illustrations and some were completely cut off. Story was unreadable by my kiddo because of this. Very frustrating.
This is actually a pretty great starter book for early readers. Generally, they should be able to read most of what is in this book without too much issue. Granted, there are some complex words that might be harder and some that will be easier. A big thing to note is that a lot of the harder words are ones that could, theoretically, not matter too much as they’re directly related to the content of the story.
The name Peter is one, for example. As is spider and Spider-man. But for any kid reading this because they love the character, these words will be easier. Aunt is another similar example, easier only in that it is often associated with Aunt May.
From there, I’ve listed several words below that your kiddo may need help with and why.
Queens - kids will need to know ‘qu’ and ‘ee’ for this one. It also has a consonant blend at the end.
2-syllable words with unfair sounds (okay to work through how to break and decode these words or tell them what they are: city, tired, about
2-syllable words (if your kiddo doesn’t understand breaking and open vs closed, this may be harder): student, science, super, secret, costume, shooters, spider, himself,
Unfair sight words (go ahead and just tell them what this word is if they don’t know it): they, high, school, care, climb, guys, ready, learn, know
I downloaded the ebook for my son, who is learning to read. He loves Spider-Man, so I thought this would be a good book for him to read. Unfortunately, the formatting in the ebook is so bad that the book is largely unreadable. Many of the words are cut off the Kindle Fire screen and many others overlap the pictures. It made it difficult and frustrating for my son, so we quit reading after a couple of pages. It's a shame. Perhaps the print version is better. I prefer print books, but I think digital books should be held to the same quality standards.
This is a great book for an easy reader. This beginning reader has simple words and the ones not very simple, will be words you know from the Spider-Man franchise. You need to use your finger to read and pick out hard words to work on before you read. Then read the story. Don't forget something very important, this is a story, not just words. 📒 🕷 Peter lives in Queens in New York City with his Aunt May. Peter loves math and science at High School. Peter gets bullied at school, but not at home. Peter has a secret Identity. 🕸 Who is it? What can he do? Where can he go? I borrowed this book from Amazon Prime Account and so can you. 📙
Wasn't pleased with the layout in my kindle. Very few settings to adjust to try to improve it. Would appreciate tips on improving this. Some words didn't display, we're cut off page, large black panel on right side of page. Was restricted to landscape orientation. Review reflects only my feedback on the display, not the content.
This was a great find. My three year old loved it and we loved that it wasn’t violent. Great message too, that when you know who you are, others can’t take it away from you.
Son loved this book. He was instantly upset when it was over, immediately demanding to read the other books about spider -Man. I should probably stop reading his favorite characters before bed.
I gave this reader a four stars. The reason why is young children like the character More than the words. Some of them like the color of what the character is wearing . But there are some first reader that can read it and love the story.
you know what drove me bonkers about this book?? no one in this creative Spiderman, Superman, Batman ... would ever ... ever call his attire, his/her uniform a COSTUME?? sorry. nope. that was cruel ... could you please take that out?? other than that ... the illustrations are spot on, well done!!
It is ok for me d.I'm not sure what the new books and magazines are going anywhere from the us and I will see the books and I will be able to get back to the books
the books were published by the American public and I have been doing this for the first half of an old man
It was a cool book, because he likes Spiderman alot.
Its a good book to read if your kiddo is just getting into reading by himself/herself. My son had no problems reading it, and he was sad when it ended.
