Brent Kelly was a laid-back tradesman, whose only concerns were drinks with friends and which man to bed next. In need of a new accountant to sort out his shoebox of receipts, he's referred to Logan Willis, a quiet spoken, science-fiction loving geek. He didn't expect the geeky guy with an English accent and dark-rimmed glasses, wearing a TARDIS-blue shirt to be so intriguing.

He didn't expect to be fascinated by him, let alone attracted to him. He most certainly didn't expect to fall in love.

From jock to geek, both men know the differences between them are vast. But in this opposites-attract erotic drama, maybe it wasn’t the differences between them that would drive them apart. Maybe it was the differences between them that made it worth the fight.

Am I the only Scrooge on the planet who didn't love this?? I could barely finish! Sure, it was light, but sooo insta-lovey with an almost non-existent plot! What am I missing??

Jeez, I'm ready for tomatoes to be thrown at my head because this book is nearly universally loved by M/M fans. I'd almost call it a classic. Alas, it was not meant to be for me.

I get that that Brent and Logan are opposites, but does it have to be mentioned every two pages?

I get that these guys like to bang each other, but do they have to do it five times in one day?

I get that Logan is insecure because he thinks he isn't good looking enough, but was that TOTALLY unbelievable and unnecessary drama really needed at the end?

I get that they had a connection, but did it have to be so quick and so tension-less?

While I didn't hate it, I didn't like it either, and I found myself skimming a bit towards the end. At least the last few pages made me smile.

N.R. Walker writes the most adorable characters!

This was super cute and funny. Thoroughly enjoyed reading it!

Re-read 12/2020: I've read this 3 times already, but I've found the audiobook on Scribd and when I saw that Nick J. Russo narrates it, I just had to listen to it right away. Thoroughly enjoyed it. 😊

Brent Kelly has no problem with dating. He could get anyone he wants. But somehow, weirdly he is totally at a loss for words when it comes to his new accountant. A science fiction-loving, geeky guy with dark-rimmed glasses… Logan Willis is so not his usual type that even Brent can’t believe how much he is attracted to Logan.
I shook my head. Me, Brent Kelly, who played football, who could pick up any guy with just a suggestive nod, was being bent all out of shape by a bean-counting nerd.
A tall, delicate bean-counting nerd. A totally cute, funny, really smart, British bean-counting nerd with pink lips and long fingers. And a TARDIS-colored shirt.

After the first awkward moments they just can’t stop talking to each other, they never run out of topics, and never can get enough of each other.

Are they really opposites? No, just different. But can these differences cause problems between them? Not really. But malevolent people and their own insecurities can.

I loved this romance: it’s light, funny, steamy, and lovely. The characters are nicely elaborated and adorable. Highly recommended!

Predictably, Taxes and Tardis is another gorgeously sweet and romantic gem by N.R. Walker. I may be late to this party but sometimes you’ve just got to save some of the good stuff for days like this.

This is an opposites-attract story about a jock electrician named Brent and a geeky accountant named Logan. The unlikely pair meet when Brent is in major need of help with his finances, and surprisingly, for both of them, they hit it off and quickly begin a sweet love affair that is both unexpected and worthwhile.

This unassuming novella is all things heart-warming and pure, with very little in the way of angst or drama.

There is also plenty of pop culture goodness for geeks like me to bask in, which I always consider a major bonus.

Taxes and Tardis was definitely a win for me and one I’ll no doubt put on the re-read rotation for a rainy day.

This was really lovely.
Cute, sweet and hot.
Loved the vulnerability in both characters which added a tiny dose of angst to the story.
It was a perfect quick read for this wet and cold Sunday.

Buddy read with ALVIN.

What do a British, slightly geeky, number-crunching, Dr. Who-loving accountant and an athletic, muscular, number-hating electrician have in common? Not much. But opposites attract...and burn up the sheets.

I liked Brent and Logan; they were hot together, and I loved Logan's adorable brand of geek-cool. This was basically a free-sailing, angst-free story, minus one silly misunderstanding at the end.

Try this if you're in the mood for some sweet, hot lovin' between two very different but very right for each other men.

Sometimes I read something and it is just so incredible that 5 stars could never be enough to express my feelings about it. This is one of those cases... this book is so totally awesome that I need a minimum of 10 stars to convey just how much I loved it. This opposites attract story is so unbelievably sweet, tender, full of humor, scorching hot that it left me in tears and stunned. Noel and Logan are so very real and yes so perfect for one another even though some, even Logan have their doubts, but Noel just knows what he feels and goes about proving it to Logan. The story is very low on the angst meter... with just a small bit near the end. I have to admit Ms. Walker had me at TARDIS and the Dr. Who theme and humor running through out the book just made an already awesome story that much more endearing. The epilogue had me crying seriously ugly tears and so very happy! If you like reading about two incredible yet very different men finding and falling for one another you will love this book!

This was a damn sweet opposites attract story. It's N.R. Walker, so I knew I'd be a satisfied customer...but my, my....Ms. Walker brought the heat in this one. I haven't read all of her books, but of the ones I've read, I'd have to say this was the steamiest. Two thumbs up.

You've got yourself a muscular handyman and a British nerd who bond over Doctor Who and some insta lust/love. Logan and Brent kept a smile plastered on my face almost the entire time I was reading.

The cute was high, the steam was high and the angst was low...just what a wanted for a lazy, Saturday morning read.

4.5--Geeky--Stars!

You really can't go wrong with an NR Walker read! I've yet to find one I didn't like, and Taxes and TARDIS was no exception.

It was the perfect opposites attract story. The geeky bean counter accountant Logan and the rough and tough electrician Brent.

Wave to Logan everyone.....

Nerdy guys are HOT!

I have no idea what Brent looks like....I couldn't stop thinking about nerdy British Logan!

It's tax time and Brent is all set to meet his new accountant....shoebox filled with receipts in hand.

This gif reminded me of Logan and Brent...and Logan's attempts to teach Brent to keep track of all of his accounting.

Brent and Logan's first encounter was awkward as hell....but so damn cute! I just wanted to hug those two.

Logan makes Brent nervous. He turns in to a bumbling idiot around Logan. I found it so endearing. Neither one is each others type but that doesn't change the fact that they are attracted to each other.

Gah, I just loved Brent and Logan! This was a short read, less than 100 pages! But I still loved it! There was a smidge of drama but nothing crazy! This was just a really sweet, super sexy story!

2 stars ⭐️ I didn't enjoy Taxes and Tardis as much as my friends did. Neither I felt the characters nor the connection to them. I had to skim through pages to get to the end of the story. No wonder I felt like the book hardly had a plot then. I've read my fair share of sweet/fluffy romances to decide the cheesy and sugary in this book couldn't entice me to the story anymore.

The story was pretty simple and the flow was quite predictable. Logan was the accountant who prepared Brent’s tax file. The first time they met, Brent gazed down at Logan for a moment with an expression of excitement. Logan wasn't Brent's regular type of a guy. But the attraction he had on Logan made him question his rules once again.
On the other hand, Logan was a geek, smart guy who never thought a person like Brent would ever be his boyfriend. But the same impressions they had over themselves led to becoming something more, and both of them understood that they were compatible with each other.

My niggles : I was annoyed all the time because of both Logan and Brent’s mantra of how neither was the other type, and how they are attracted to each other, and their instant love that I am sure I didn't even have time to blink my eyes before they fell in love with each other. It was way quicker than the time my instant noodles took to steam it.

Anyway, I'm a sucker for beautiful book covers. So, I want to take this opportunity to appreciate the gorgeous cover the book has!

I thoroughly enjoyed this tale of opposites attract, jock meets nerd. N.R. Walker has the magic touch with MC's chemistry, and she proves it once again with Brent and Logan.

I admit I haven't read many of this trope but I can't see any fault in opposites attract.

Brent's a guy's guy. He's a successful, self employed electrician, typically interested in like minded and similarly built dudes. Thus it's no surprise that he's flabbergasted by his immediate attraction to his new accountant.

Logan may seem straight-laced, but behind those glasses is quite a tantalizing, assertive package. It may seem like these two wouldn't have anything in common but they connect and get along fabulously.

Though the ending came too quick, it still had just the right amount of feels and angst, with a good dash of heat one doesn't always get with an NR Walker book. Sweet, endearingly awkward, and quite hot, I enjoyed this immensely for its simplicity!

No, I don't watch Dr. Who. No, I have no idea what TARDIS stands for or what it can do (I only know that it's a phone booth :p). So I can feel what Brent feels *lol*.

Anyway, the story is really cute -- I LOVE opposites attract!! I love how Brent gets all flustered around Logan. Although, I am slightly annoyed on how the authors keep emphasizing on that after Brent and Logan get together. Yes, they're not exactly the other's type, can we focus on why they end up connecting that well, though? It will be good to see their "great" conversation, when they CAN find stuffs to talk about.

It's also light on angst ... I even wonder what the big climax will be before the HEA. I can do with less sex scenes, because I always prefer the story of "falling in love by showing it outside the bedroom", but that's just my own personal taste.

This started off so well. And then... the 3rd act drama? It was so unbearably unnecessary and cheesy afterwards, I had to dnf at 80% 🙄

I started listening to this book because I needed an audiobook, and it’s narrated by NJR, so I went in, knowing it won’t blow me away, but still expecting decent entertainment.

And it started cute enough: Brent, an electrician in his mid twenties, needs an accountant for his taxes, and turns up at Logan’s office with a shoe box full of receipts. Logan is his complete opposite: a nerd, slim, smart, with dark rimmed glasses, wearing a TARDIS blue button up shirt.

As unlikely as the pair is, they’re attracted to each other, and they become a couple. And I’ve always had a soft spot for nerd/jock pairings, so I had fun at the beginning, even though the entire relationship buildup is them fucking like bunnies every time they’re together.

And then, the third act drama came up. It’s so very predictable, that I don’t even consider discussing it here as being a spoiler: Logan meets Brent’s friends, one of whom having had a one sided crush on Brent for ages. Logan knows about him. Nevertheless, when Brent goes to the bathroom, said friend tells Logan Brent is just messing with him, and Logan leaves, crushed, and not giving Brent a chance to explain.

Explain WHAT, Logan, oh smart one?

Jesus, I rolled my eyes so hard, I was afraid they’d get stuck.

Then they “make up”, both cry, the L word is said, and Brent decides to “let Logan inside not only into his heart, but his body, too” 🙄

I kid you not. To quote it exactly:
And with that overwhelming, heightening, humbling realization, I knew what I wanted. I wanted to give myself to him. He already had my heart. I wanted him to have my body too.

This was a level of cheesy even NJR could salvage 😂

Some books by this author I loved, some I didn’t. This one - sadly - is in the latter category.

So, so sweet. I loved it.

If it was left as an opposites-attract, date, fall for each other, and live HEA story, it would be a solid, enjoyable 4 star read. But, I feel like the author tried to toss in a hail mary angst issue towards the end that was unnecessary and a bit silly.

However, it didn’t take away from the charm of Brent & Logan. They were freaking adorable together and I loved every scene with the two of them!

Short, easy read...worth it...

An odd couple romance. I really enjoy Walker's writing so I ate this one right up. Love me some Doctor Who so I enjoyed those references. One thing I have to say though is that I think she meant the Vulcan salute because there is no such thing as a Klingon sign for hello unless it's a punch in the face. ;) So speaks my inner Star Trek geek.

This was cute and sappy and I adored it. A fun very sweet read about an electrician and an accountant who meet and think they may have nothing in common but find out that opposites attract.

I'm sad to say that this one didn't really work for me. I think it was a case of me having too high expectations. I'm a huge fan of N.R. Walker. Especially her sweeter books. I just didn't connect to the main characters and it moved too fast for me. The ending was really sweet though so that took it from a two star read to a three star read.

“I’ve always wanted to lie in bed with another a man and just read”, Logan said, quietly. “Not your average fantasy, I know.”

Of course he had to be gay -and fictional.

I don’t know what I’m going to do when I run out of books by this author. They never fail to entertain me and let me forget about RL (with its exams, real people & other problems). While Taxes and Tardis is not going to be between my favorites by her, it was exactly what I was looking for: a cute romance with no drama, just two beautiful men falling in love and living in HEA.

I do have some tiny problems with the story: the characters felt a bit more typical than usual and I didn’t like the problem in the ending. It was the classic misunderstanding and lack of trust I’ve read one hundred too many times before and I’m used to NR Walker giving me a great, original final problem before the HEA. However, it was sweet, light and fast, and I know I’d reread it sometime. Thank you again, NRWalker!

Also, I LOVED the scene where they met. First impressions are overvalued.

I opened my mouth to say something, only more stupid came out. “You’re tall.”
He laughed at me, and I wished the ground would open up and swallow me whole. () He was still smiling. “Do you always struggle in social situations?”

For some odd reason this made cry (in a good way) - it was all just so adorable.

Admittedly, a lot of stuff could have been 'more' or better explained (like why these guys fell for each other, apart from love at first sight) BUT I really enjoyed it nonetheless.

And I loved the 'opposites attract' and Dr. Who themes. Yes, so good and heart-warming!

Cute story! About Brent (a hunky electrician) and Logan (a nerdy accountant). Loved the banter and the sex was hot. It was really sweet with nearly no angst. I would love to read the roommate Tim's story even though he isn't gay.

Oh, and I had no idea what a TARDIS was either!

Very sweet story and gorgeous characters. Super light and fluffy, their little tift was the most pitiful reason for a possible breakup, but it was resolved quickly, so that was good. Lots of sex and I'll never complain about that :-D

❝Logan, now you know I am yours,❞ I told him. He smiled beautifully and snuggled into my neck.
❝Yes. Like I am yours.❞

𝗦𝗢𝗡𝗚 𝗥𝗘𝗖
Doctor Who Theme

TAXES AND TARDIS was a strange book. On the one hand, oh my god, the insta-love. Seriously, the insta was strong with this book. Literally, the minute they locked eyes Logan and Brent were madly in love.

On the other hand, TAT had one of the greatest epilogues ever. I think I literally swooned while reading it. *sigh* it made me feel so overcome with emotions… Like - I feel so single, and yet so happy that Logan and Brent got their HEA...

❝Logan,❞ I said, or squeaked. I really wasn’t sure at this point. ❝If I had two hearts, they’d both belong to you. Would you, Logan Willis, have me as your companion through all of space and time?❞

That said, despite how much I adored the epilogue I still had my issues with TAXES AND TARDIS. The main issue being, the last minute drama and Tim ex machina.

See, for most of the book Logan and Brent are in their happy bubble of love and sunshine. But, for some reason at the last freaking percent of the book Logan breaks up with Brent, because, get this, Brent's friend lied and said that Brent was only with him for a tax break, or something…

And of course, Logan believes Marty, storms out, and Brent just… freezes. Luckily, he had good ole' Tim there to set the record straight!!

❝Logan, Brent’s in love with you.❞ Logan and I both turned to Tim, both of us gaping, and Tim nodded. He stared at Logan and continued, ❝He just can’t tell you. His fucked-up parents did a real number on him. He has a hard time with saying shit out loud, but it doesn’t mean it’s not true.❞

I don't know about you guys, but I kinda like it when the HERO of the story solves their own issues. The fact that TIM was the one who solved the ninth hour breakup was… strange. Then again, maybe we all need a Tim in our corner.

I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful story.

N.R. Walker truly has the magic touch with MC's chemistry, and she proves it once again with Brent and Logan.

While the story is quite hot and steamy, the intimacy is written with care and displays the depth of feeling and emotions shared between the two gorgeous men.

Every time that I read a N.R. Walker book, my heart overflows with joy and contentment!

"Taxes and Tardis" is a lovely book! It's the story of Brent and Logan! Brent is an electrician, very well built, strong and beautiful! Logan is an accountant, slim, delicate and handsome! They couldn't be more different, but are perfect for each other! Their relationship, despite so many differences, is adorable!

I loved it, it was sugary- sweet, fluffiest-fluffy, with the right amount of steam. In short, we have a signature, NR Walker's book.💕💕The relationship was a bit insta but it's a novella, so, I am not going to complain. Plus, I liked the MCs, they both were sweet and genuine.
My only doubt is, Do we really have people who like watching Star Wars/Star Trek and do not know anything about 'Doctor who'???🤔🤔🤔

This was super cute and sweet. So sweet. Nausea inducing sweet. Sugary coma sweet.

Nothing really happens after the initial Insta-love and hookup. The two minutes of drama seemed really forced, and made no sense.

I can't believe I finally got to read this! Over the last few months, I have fallen in love with N.R. Walker as an author. Her stories are always amazing and I seem to find a lot of favorites in her work.

Taxes and TARIDS is an adorable, cute, sweet, and just amazing story. I loved Logan and Brent. Two really sweet characters who happened to be opposites but were attracted to each other. Brent is normally the type of character I would dislike, but here he was just sweet and lovable. I loved how he fell for Logan. The little bit of angst on his part was really well done too and it was nice to see the issues he had because of his parents.

Logan was adorable, and funny. Well, both guys were funny, but I did find Logan slightly funnier. I loved his geekiness. It was totally endearing and really cute. I don't think I could have loved either of them more if I tried. They were just too lovable.

I'm not a Dr. Who fan. I just wanted to throw that out there. But I didn't have an issue with it in this story. I found those scenes really sweet. The fact Brent would bother watching the DVD's was what really made me fall in love with him.

Overall, this was just an amazing story. I really fell in love with the Brent and Logan. And I want more!!

My least favourite of N.R. Walker's books so far. It's not bad, but this story of a small business entrepreneur in construction who falls head over heels in love with a geeky accountant feels factitious, like it has a fake gloss to it. A bit superficial. The pair's interactions and plot are both easy to predict, and a bit too easy, too cutesy.

The blue collar / white collar stereotypes the MCs are allotted feels terribly dated to me. The traditional conflict of those roles is not enough to hold up such a large part of the plot, at least not the way the story is written. At times it feels like the author actively tries to dumb down the construction worker but later forgets and for a while he is eloquent again.

All in all, this is a pleasant story with little to no angst which unfortunately failed to grab my full attention. I skimmed through the two epilogues at the end because they simply were too sugary for my taste. I'm actually relieved to see it was one of Walker's earlier work, so to me her writing and storytelling has definitely improved over time.

To balance my criticism in the paragraphs above, N.R. Walker's writing in this book still outdo a lot of other self-published authors. For those in the mood for something sweet, cute and non-angsty, this book should be a good fit.
