If you are looking for a way to increase the visibility of your business and establish your authority or expertise in your field, then you need to get a copy of OWN YOUR NICHE. As Chandler writes in the introduction, "Own Your Niche is about getting visibility with the right audience online and offline in a high-integrity way. It's about checking in with your instincts, questioning the advice you've heard and communicating with your audience with authenticity, in a way that feels right to you." The book is a rich balance between how-to information combined with insightful examples and additional resources.

In the final portion of the introduction, Chandler identifies her audience saying, "The strategies in OWN YOUR NICHE are geared toward service-based businesses including consultants, coaches, speakers, authors, doctors, attorneys, financial professionals, creative professionals, freelancers and businesses of all sizes that provide a service because you have a unique opportunity to reach a niche audience online with great content."

Each chapter is loaded with details like how to establish your authority in your field (chapter 2), build your audience and engage community (chapter 3), turn your website into a client conversion machine (chapter 4), increase website traffic (chapter 5), hype-free internet marketing (chapter 9), internet revenue streams (chapter 12). Each of the 13 chapters includes a detailed example of a successful person practicing the methods for that chapter called an "entrepreneur interview." I found these interviews insightful.

Grab your yellow highlighter when you read OWN YOUR NICHE because you will definitely need it so you can apply this useful information to your business. I highly recommend this book.

This book was quite helpful, although a lot has changed since it was written [eg. some websites are no longer operating] there is still a chance that a good number principles and tips can still apply. I know whatever works with the idea I am entertaining, some of these tips will certainly be worked into my business plan - for an idea I am toying with that the moment. The book is also loaded with resources, this is a wonderful that I was looking for in prior books but was unable to find a definitive list of resources and case studies to give direction and counsel, to me better fill out my own business plan.

Stephanie is as always true to her word, and innthis, her title. Clear instructions along with equally clear explanations make what is a huge project seem quite logical, simple, and, most of all, doable. Having started reading about such topics as SEO and Google AdWords msny times, this time I finished. With calm conviction in place that I can manage this process and will soon see measurable results. I applaud Stephanie, and am in her debt. Thank you for this. Now, to put it all to work but quick.

Overall it was a quick, pretty pleasant read and I found a few good ideas in it. However, the book is very repetitive and most of the techniques described are already known to people who work in online marketing. As an SEO person I actually cringed at some of the old school advice on how to increase visibility on search engines...like exchanging links, which can actually hurt your business nowadays! But it's not the author's fault, that's just how things were done back in the day.

Stephanie Chandler's "Own Your Niche" is primarily focused on service-based businesses, but the advice can be applied across a variety of enterprises.

The book contains chapters on things like social media, writing press releases, leveraging materials in more than one format and so on. However, there is also an interview with a successful businessperson at the end of each section in which they provide advice for entrepreneurs. There are 175 links and resources contained in the book (which are also listed again at the end for ease), so that readers may easily implement ideas.

I found myself implementing those new ideas as I read each chapter. Chandler's attitude is "take what works and leave the rest," which is sensible since everyone's business is different.

This is one of the best business books I have read in a long while and I highly recommend it for authors as well as service-based business entrepreneurs.

This book is a very easy read, containing useful ideas that you can implement yourself to increase your on-line presence and, as the book title says, own your own niche.

Each chapter has a wealth of ideas and supporting resources (including hyperlinks and further reading) and every chapter concludes with a short interview with a successful business owner who gives examples of how they have grown their own business using some of the tactics described in the book.

I read the Kindle edition of this book and after each chapter found myself making notes for further research and action on my part. I'm positive I'll be referring back to this book a number of times as I begin to own my own niche! :-)

Writers! Here' s a great new book from Stephanie Chandler. I think the topic is so important and relevant for nonfiction writers. I definitely went out and owned my niche when it came to blogging a book and doing so landed me a book deal, speaking gigs, coaching clients, and more. Take Stephanie's advice. Emulate what she and the other people she profiles in the book have done. Consider owning your niche. All the advice you need to do so is in right here.
