Alien Neighbors is her debut science fiction novel:

"Astronauts encounter aliens offering to share technology and resources in Golden's SF novel ... smoothly told tale that accents emotions, relationships, and good feelings ... despite episodes of deadly sabotage and hints that rogue Cygnans may have their own hostile agenda, "group hugs all around" is the prevailing sentiment.

The rare SF yarn that emphasizes the positive."

If you like fantasy, you HAVE to read this book!!! It was amazing!! The story was strong but simple so it wasn’t confusing. Nancy Golden was so descriptive and painted a picture in my head the entire time. I actually also live in the same city as Nancy! I can’t wait until book 2 is released!!

My boys (ages 8 & 10) enjoyed this book. My 10 year old (who likes fantasy) liked that Rugal (the main character) did not start with his dynamis power and we got to see that unfold and develop. It really helped with the rich character development. He also liked how we got to see the journey of how he got his companions and seeing those characters also develop. He was also drawn in by the bright and contrasting cover.
It isn't a surface level book, so it was enjoyable to read out loud and discuss the story with my kids. It has a lot of positive themes (friendship, bravery, determination, etc.) and, as a parent, I appreciate how it is a "clean" book.
We did a read aloud where we read one chapter each night before bed and we are looking forward to reading the next one!

I read this with my step kids and we all loved it! I forget how nice it is to read fantasy books targeted for younger audiences as you don't have to be on edge and stressed out about what bad thing is going to happen next haha. We loved the main character and the unpredicted character information. If you have young ones that like fantasy, I guarantee they'll love this and you'll love reading it to them!

Enchanting

When a country has been besieged by the murderer of the most beloved king; taking the crown for himself, all becomes bleak. There is no longer music, art, or plays, all punishable crimes. When the true king comes of age, and thwarts the villainous usurper, all is made right again. What a truly inspiring tale of rightousness.
