Holly Cavanaugh has one chance to prove to the travel show Weekend Getaway that her struggling B&B is a perfect destination. So she decks the halls, winds the garland, hangs the mistletoe, unwraps the Christmas tree and—finds a body.

At that moment, a reporter arrives. And it’s none other than her ex, Zach Weldon, looking sexier than ever. Thinking he’s with the travel show, she’s forced to distract Zach by any means necessary while her maid and grandparents can hide the body.

Only Zach is actually a newspaper reporter on the trail of two diamond thieves. And one of them is unusually interested in Holly’s tree…

Librarian Note: There is more than one author in the GoodReads database with this name. See this thread for more information.

New York Times Bestselling author, Leslie Kelly writes sexy romances and dark romantic thrillers. A four-time RWA RITA Award nominee, eleven-time Romantic Times Award nominee and 2006 RT Award winner, Leslie has become known for her delightful characters, sparkling dialogue, and outrageous humor in her romances, and for the dark grittiness of her thrillers. Since the publication of her first book in 1999, Leslie has gone on to pen more than forty sassy, sexy romances for Harlequin Temptation, Blaze, and HQN.

In 2009, Leslie began tapping into her love for dark suspense by penning several books under the pseudonym Leslie Parrish. The Black CATs and Extrasensory Agents series quickly put Leslie on the must-read list of romantic-suspense fans.

Tired of writing under various names, Leslie decided to go into her next genre--futuristic thrillers with a suspense element--under her real name. She released her dark, gritty Veronica Sloan books, and reissued the Black CATs series, as Leslie A. Kelly.

Leslie lives in Denver with her husband Bruce--her real-life romance hero. Visit her online at lesliekelly.com (for her sexy romances) or at leslieAkelly.com (for her romantic suspense.)

I work at a library. I was wondering if these boys were really any good because I see lots of different aged woman who read them. They are not so great. It had a few funny moments. Too much detail at certain parts for me....

Holly Cavanaugh needed the publicity provided by a Chicago-based travel television show whose crew was due to arrive at her struggling B&B in just a few hours. She certainly didn't need the dead body on her living room floor, after falling out of the Christmas tree. Reporter Zach Weldon was following leads to suspects of an jewelry robbery when he finds himself back in his hometown, where the one he loved and lost still lives.

A sweet setup, if a little trite and overused. Still can work in the right hands. Kelly does a decent job working with teenage misunderstanding and pride and adult miscommunication. First published in 2007. 3.5 out of 5.

Finding the Christmas tree dead in the middle of the living room on the most important day of her life, Holly Cavanaugh had no other choice but to dash out and get another. Purchasing the biggest available, site unseen, she dragged it home set it up and cut the ties off of it only to have the body of a dead man fall out. When the reporter showed up on her front door step, she assumed it was the travel reporter her to do a story on the Bed and Breakfast, finding out it was her ex, the only man she truly ever loved was going to make it more difficult to keep him from finding the dead body. Zach Weldon just wanted to make sure that the person who got that tree was safe, he knew how the jewel thieves were, if they were interested in that tree, there was something in it that they would do anything to get back. It would be hard enough to face his ex know the danger she was in, but also knowing that she still thought the worst of him and didn’t trust him made him more determined than ever to prove to her that he was worth the time.

Cute, fast paced, funny in so many ways. The involvement of her grandparents with the ‘Weekend at Bernies’ act had me laughing out loud (and groaning in condolence with Zach). Had found this audio book and thought the title sounded funny, since it was a short story, I got it and now am glad I did. A great diversion from normal holiday STUFF, and a great reminder to live in the moment. I would be interested in finding more from this author, the combination of a tense situation and her comedic responses was well balanced and just plain fun.

Holly is struggling to keep the family owned B&B open. If she fails not only will she lose the business but a home that has been in her family for generations. So, when the Christmas tree needs replacing at the last minute - in order that the place look suitably festive before the camera crew arrives - she dashes out to buy a new one. The only problem is when they slice the bindings on the 12 footer, a corpse falls out...

On top of that the man on her doorstep - whom she believes is one of the reporters working with the film crew - is someone from her past. A man she's never quite forgiven herself for letting get away. Holly needs this report on the B&B if she isn't going to lose the house, so getting a little cozy with Zach doesn't seem like such a terrible hardship.

As for Zach, if this is the chance to prove that he isn't the two timing dog that Holly thinks he is, well he's going to take it. But he knows a little more about the tree than he's willing to let on and although he's a reporter, he's not part of the business saving crew that Holly has been waiting for.

A cute two hour audio novella, nicely narrated, and enough of a tease that I'll look for other work from the author again.

Cute short story. Holly, a Bed & Breakfast owner finds a dead guy in her 12' christmas tree when she unwraps it. An ex is back in town posing as a travel TV interviewer, and after a short adventurous caper they rekindle their romance. I downloaded it free off of audible.com, so the price was right.

This was a really quick read (or listen in my case). Fun story, but it was so short there wasn't much to it in terms of the characters or the overall story arc.

This is a quick read that I listened to. A dead diamond thief is found in a Christmas tree and all kinds of mayhem ensues.

This was a short amusing holiday romance. Nothing too fancy, but an okay way to spend the time.
