I mean...I didn't hate it. It was a fun little submarine romp...but, I mean, I'm so confused by his timeline.
I mean, I'm not a travel guru by any means, but I think if I gave you 48 hours to get to a certain point in the Arctic, you couldn't get nearly half of the assets that everyone else gets in place in that amount of time. I mean, the icebreakers are literally alerted with 18 hours to get to point A, with a stated traveling speed of roughly four miles per hour...so, they are literally in the neighborhood, already. I think the ticking clock needed a lot of work...that, or the ocean is a hell of a lot smaller than I think it is...
...also, I read the book right after that in the series prior to this, and there are some severe frostbite, cold damage, major surgery issues that the main character's wife probably need to have - and she even had a thought about how she'd "never be beautiful again" due to the damage she was sustaining in walking across the ice floe - pretty unprotected - for hours and hours - and was attacked by wolves...and none of that is mentioned in the aforementioned book. She's apparently just as stunningly beautiful, no worse for wear, with all fingers, toes, and skin intact...oh, oh, and the major plot point of this book - completely missing in installment #3...
...okay, enough harping on nitpicks...
It was okay...I'm not upset that I read it...it probably would make a good, action-packed submarine movie: especially with the underwater sex encounter in a large ice cube underneath the ice pack - like boning in the middle of an aquarium...you'll have to read the book...

Review 16. Peter Mackenzie #2 Raise the Red Dawn by Bart Davis

A fantastic sequel to Full Fathom Five, Bart Davis really hits the nail on the head with this book.
Involving some of the same characters from the first book and lots of new ones, this book will really have rooting for the characters to succeed.
The submarine action in this book is again absolutely fantastic and the characters are ones you will be desperate to find out what happens next to them.
This is book 2 of 5 and the author definitely didn't seem to slow the pace of his story and action at any point.
Definitely a book I recommend!!

Book was very exciting,learned a lot about sub life ,better than a movie ,can't wait to read the next book in the series

Enjoyable read including submarine cat-and-mouse strategy as well as political intrigue and outside the box thinking. nice combination of man vs man and nation vs nation.

I'd been looking to relocate this book on Goodreads and on Amazon, and it was a difficult task because I couldn't recollect the title. Why? Because I threw the book in the trash. Hands-down the worst piece of fiction I've ever read. Terrible. Truly terrible. Don't waste a second of your life on this book.
