Only daughter of an English lord, Sarra of Greenbriar, is used to getting her way. So when her father passes and the King begins sending suitors, she feels justified in taking matters into her own hands. Through a series of harmless pranks, Sarra works to keep the potential husbands at bay. Cedric MacNeil is a Scotsman that has lost it all. Death claimed his parents and jealousy claimed his entitled position as Laird of his clan. Since his mother was a familiar of the English court, he leaves his native land and heads to England to fight on behalf of the English King. Tournaments are won, earning honor and glory for the crown. Cedric’s reward is the opportunity to gain what he wants most in this life, land. But as he gets to know Sarra, he realizes he might get more than he bargained for.
The King has sent him to take over control of the castle and to wed the mistress. He wanders around in town and learns about it and the people living in it, working in it. He's fallen for a maid and he knows it's not right as he has to wed the mistress in order to get the land.
He is a Scot and he's intrigued with the Lists and watches how the English fight with their swords and attempts to show them how he fights with his kilt on. He senses something isn't right here.
Sarra has a lot of friends in the keep that are intentionally keeping her suitors from the King away. Every one of them has either come down with a health ailment or they see the mistress as an old haggard women.
It is her 21st birthday and the whole village will be stopping work soon and helping to celebrate with a feast, dancing and drinking. He does not have a gift for the mistress but he does have one for the maid and she loves it.
An uprising occurs to cut the party short and things don't add up. His band of men weren't to come til they were summoned. He learns that gold is involved and can't understand why one is paying anybody to steal sheep.
There are many things that occur that I thought would be in a specific order and just when I thought something would happen a certain way the opposite happened or it was three fold as worse than I feared. Like the anticipation of what was to happen next and especially liked the sharing of the book with Cedric. Was happy to learn that he wanted to learn more of it.
This story reminds me of Covington Cross where the mother had passed away so the young girl took on a role that made her as strong as her brothers in every regard and ran the castle.
This book has strong characters that are likeable.
A delightful historical read, beautifully written with living characters and an enchanting fairy-tale-like quality. Sarra is used to living by her wits - as the mistress of a castle and estate she is a perilous position with her lands in the gift of the English King. She has grown used to repelling suitors (who would marry her for her land) by cunning and deception, but when the disenfranchised Scottish noble Cedric, comes along not only do her plans backfire but she also risks losing the love of her life on a point of principle. Cedric is a man of honour who walked away from a claim to his Highland home because he felt there were more worthy claimants. He is handsome, dashing and brave...and when he sees Sarra, his carefully laid plan to take over the Greenbriar land start to crumble because he believes her to be maid, not mistress. 'There Your Heart Will Be Also' is a proper story that you can snuggle down with to enjoy the setting and characters. Ms Rogers has a wonderful way with language and effortlessly evokes the feel and place of 16th century England, but without alienating the reader with unnecessary detail. The character of Sarra was wily enough to believe her tactics and yet naive enough to be wrong-footed by a handsome laird, whilst Cedric was a delicious combination of real man but with morals. A read that compares well with the work of many well-established authors of historical fiction.
An enjoyable story of true love, loyalty, and the repercussions of greed and vengeance. Rogers creates a historically accurate and intriguing English landscape, complete with that endearingly roguish touch of Scotland and its cultural colors.
One of my favorite parts about this book was the cast of characters; each person was not simply thrown in for convenience. The personality of each was crafted individually, given his or her own tongue, and set loose to interact with the others in a way that was entirely believable and witty. I particularly enjoyed the verbal sparring between Cedric and Sarra throughout; they certainly kept each other on their toes.
I would most certainly recommend this work to anyone looking to take a trip back to medieval England (without the hassle of hailing a time machine) and enjoy a little romance while they're there. Enjoy!
There Your Heart Will Be Also is a sweet story of faith and love. From the moment you start reading you are caught up in the lives of two people in the mid 16th century. Your heart goes out to Cedric who is trying to overcome his past and prove himself and to Sarra who is strong during a time when women were considered lesser creatures incapable of taking care of lands or running keeps alone. Despite lies and deceptions these two fall in love and Cedric is introduced to a faith and a God that can overcome all. Felicia Rogers does an amazing job of bringing these characters and this time period to life. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more by Felicia Rogers.
This was a great book! I loved being pulled into the story of love, land and pride. Sarra was a strong character with enough realism to make her very easy to relate to. She seemed a bit old for the time period, but that's alright. Cedric was a wonderful character - mixing goals and desires as he falls in love with the "wrong" woman. The side characters made for a full story and brings you into the world the characters are living in. I especially liked Duncan's character. The action was good and the plot went well. A light dash of Christian slant, while not overpowering seems a bit out of place. Altogether it was a fun book that I enjoyed reading and would recommend.
Captivating! I really enjoyed this book! It was a light-hearted, entertaining, fun romp from start to finish! The dialogue was witty and the characters enchanting and the author made you want to take each of them and give them a little nudge to do the right thing at times! I love it when I find a story that draws me in so much I am talking out loud giving the characters encouragement and sometimes even advise! LOL! This story had comedy, romance and even a little touch of mystery. It was such a fun read and I couldn't put it down until I found out how it would end! I definitely encourage you to pick this one up!
There Your Heart Will Be Also by Felicia Rogers was an excellent book. The two main characters Sarra and Cedric were very interesting. Both of them had you totally interested in what they were doing...and you wanted to keep reading the book to find out what will eventually happen to them.
I found Felicia's writing to be very good. The descriptions of The Keep, the surroundings..made you almost see it in your mind. You could almost picture yourself there.
I would totally recommend this book.....especially if you like to read Historical Fiction.
This was such a charming tale, particularly the first few chapters that had me laughing out loud. I listened to an audio version (whispersync/audible) that I liked. This would be a great young adult book. I would like to order it for our middle school library. 🤓A very cute, clean story. I look forward to reading more by this author.

This was a sweet story and Sarra was a heroine that you can relate to. It does not matter in what time you live in, you want to know that the person you plan to spend your life with loves you for you.
I picked up this book because I had read Labor of Love, I wanted to see where the series began. This story was more than I expected it to be. It showed a young woman who not only guards her heart but protects the people who depend on her in a world when men are supposed to be the ones taking care of them. She has a kind heart, she makes some fool choices but who does not when faced with matters of the heart?
the journey that Sarra and Cedric both have to go on in order to discover the truth is one that transcends time. It was a well written story, with likable characters and a well developed plot. I will be reading this again someday.
Loved, Loved, Loved this book! Great Historical Fiction. I also loved the spiritual thread. Eventually the truth will always come out. This is the first book in a series and I cannot wait to read the other books in this great series.
